Weather news, well, we had a white Christmas; after all, it stormed here most of Wed only a few inches of snow, but visibility was not very good. We got a couple more inches on Dec. 27th

St, John's/Kongsvinger news: services are now being held indoors again with some restrictions in place. If you do not wish to go inside, you may remain in your car and listen in on your car radio. Services are at 9:30 a.m., on the 1st, 3rd, 5th Sun at Kongsvinger, the 2nd and 4th Sun at St, John's. Communion is on the 1st and 4th Sun of the month. The Parish office remains closed; call or e-mail if you need assistance. For the time being, Rev. Rochelle Anderson is providing pastoral care. Please contact a council president if you need pastoral care or call her at 320-287-2663. Please contact somebody on the status of S.S. or other events before planning to attend any events in the parish.

Several dates are available for 2021 to sponsor a KMRS broadcast; please contact the parish office if you wish to do so.

Death notices: Leroy (Butch) Brandt of Morris passed away on Dec. 24th. He & his family used to come up to Donnelly & pitch horseshoe at the Bee for many years.

Madison Grace Morrison of Sioux Falls s.d. PASSED away on Dec. 23rd.  She was preceded in death by her great-great-grandmother former Donnelly area resident Millie LeSage.

Courtney Lehman was named honorable mention on the KMRS/KKOK/SCT all-area team

St, John’s/Kongsvinger news: services are now being held indoors again with some restrictions in place. If you do not wish to go inside, you may remain in your car and listen in on your car radio. Services are at 9:30 a.m., on the 1st, 3rd, 5th Sun at Kongsvinger, the 2nd 4th Sun at St, John’s. Communion is on the 1st and 4th Sun of the month. The Parish office remains closed; call or e-mail if you need assistance. For the time being, Rev. Rochelle Anderson is providing pastoral care. Please contact a council president if you need pastoral care or call her at 320-287-2663. Please contact somebody on the status of S.S. or other events before planning to attend any events in the parish.

Death notices: former Donnelly area resident Pearl Struck of Buffalo mn passed away on December 16th survivors include her granddaughter Tanya (Gulbrandson) (Ryan)Kellen of Norcross, formerly of the Donnelly area & her family

Mike Amborn of Belfair Wash passed away on December 15th .survivors include his sister Betty (Paul) Sperr of Morris, formerly of Donnelly, and their family.

Former Donnelly area resident Lloyd Bendt passed away on December 13th in Salome, AZ.

There are no services scheduled.

Death notices. Jerry Sullivan of Morris passed away on December 13th survivors include his brother John and Tom of Morris. They own the old blacksmith shop and the Catholic Church in Donnelly.

Former Donnelly area resident Dorothy (Erdahl) Perry of Minneapolis, daughter of the late Henry and Doris Erdahl of Donnelly, passed away on December 8th.  Survivors include her aunt, former Donnelly area resident Bernice Erdahl of Morris, and her family.  Due to Covid 19, her service and committal was a private family one.

 

Former Donnelly resident Diane Frank Mitchell of the Minneapolis area passed away recently. Her parents were the late Clearance and Myrtle Frank. For many years they owned and operated the Donnelly hardware store.

Congrats to Courtney Lehman, a Tiger volleyball athlete of the week, Isabel Fynboh, the same in cross country

 Congrats to the Rendsville 4-h club that recently received an award for having 100% of their members turning in their records

Death notices:  Glenn George Matejka of Alexandria, formerly of the Donnelly area, passed away on December 1st; survivors include his sister Lou Kopel of Donnelly and her family.

Dorothy (Erdahl) Perry passed away recently.. Her parents were the late Henry & Doris Erdahl of Donnelly. Survivors include her aunt, former Donnelly area resident Bernice Erdahl & her family of Morris.  I am told she lived in the cities and arrangements are still pending

Happy Thanksgiving!! Tusen takk to all my readers out there who have helped make my column the success it is. Special thanks to my fill-in writer last week, Nancy Olson. I was in the hospital, so unable to do it.

Weather news after a mild sunny weekend it has turned more fall-like this week. Most farmers in the area have completed their fieldwork for the year.

Stj/Kong news services are now being held indoors again with some restrictions in place. If you do not wish to go inside, you may remain in your car and listen in on your car radio. Services are at 9:30 a.m., on the 1st, 3rd, 5th Sun at Kong, the 2nd 4th Sun at Stj. Communion is on the 1st & 4th Sun of the month. Parish office closed; call or e-mail if you need assistance; Rev Rochelle Anderson is providing pastoral care for the time being contact a council president if you need care. Please check with somebody on the status of S.S. and or other events before planning to attend

 

Christmas trees are in the back of each church for the annual HAT AND MITTEN TREE / TOYS FOR TOTS program, where you may drop off your donations. We are collecting scarves, hats, mittens, socks, and Christmas gift items, including books, blankets, games, colors/markers, activity/coloring books, cars, dolls, etc.) The deadline to participate in this program will be Tuesday, Dec 15th. All the items collected will be distributed locally. Thank you for making Christmas a little brighter for others

 

At our Thanksgiving Eve worship, our parish welcomed Owen James Sayles, son of Alissa and Kirby Sayles as the newest member of God's family at Kongsvinger Audray & Nancy Henrichs are the great grandparents.

Kong. Christmas card club is now open until Dec. 20th donations will go to Lu Minn, .mail your donations to the parish office or drop them off there, hat mitten toys for tots collection is underway trees located in the back of the church` if you wish to purchase a poinsettia for the church gardens contact the parish office for details 246-3211

John's/Kongsvinger news: starting Nov 1st, the parish moves back inside with services at Kongsvinger on the first 3rd & 5th Sunday 2 & 4th Sundays St. John's 9:30 a.m. With restrictions masks, social distancing, no coffee hour. etc., there is SS. every Sunday after services at Kong, more info, call Aaron & Kayla Erdahl 246-3234

The ham dinner at first was good, although I would like to have had lutefisk; the veteran's bbq. They had at the legion a while ago was delicious too.

After a nice week winter made a return this week. I think all the corn and bean fields in our area have been harvested.  Some farmers are still doing some fall tillage and installing some tile.

ST. John's/Kongsvinger news: starting Nov 1st, the parish moves back inside with services at Kongsvinger on the first 3rd & 5th Sunday 2 & 4th Sundays at St. John's 9:30 AM.

• Masks are required

• No singing or reading/speaking for the congregation

• Social distancing required

• Pews will be marked for seating to allow distancing

• Worship materials will be available on a table as congregants enter (bulletins, communion, and offering plates)

• No coat racks; please take your coats and jackets with you to your seat

• Broadcast on FM for those who wish to continue worship in your car, worship material available for pickup (St. John's –inside the kitchen door, Kongsvinger-inside kitchen door)

• Worship services will still be recorded and posted on Facebook and You-Tube

Sunday school has resumed at Kong from 10:30-11; 15 AM; contact Arron or Kayla Erdahl for more info. at 246-4334.

Jim Aanerud of Donnelly informs that his sister Charlotte Arodote (sp)? Passed away on Nov. 7th she was 88 yrs old living in a nursing home in the Marshall area she was 82 yrs young and a former Donnelly area resident the COVID 19 outbreak, the parish office remains closed; call 246-3211, e-mail (stjKongsvinger@runestone.net), or send mail (box 97) assistance is needed.

Welcome to another edition of the Donnelly news. I am dedicating this issue to the memory of my aunt Mabel Van Olst who passed away on Nov 18th, 2002. She was my mom's sister.

 

Weather news: I am pleased to report that Old man winter decided to go away for a while. We have had some sunny warm weather this week. There is still some corn to be harvested and some tiling going on

Orville Quist Orff, of Osakis, passed away on Oct 30th; survivors include his daughter (Cora (David) Pry of Morris and their family. The Pry’s owned and operated the cafe in D0nnelly for many years

Former Donnelly area resident Nick Daly of Benson passed away on Nov 3rd. 

Election results for Donnelly: Mayor Dale Ennen. Jacob Eystad and Mike Schmidt were elected to the city council. One of those elected to a seat on the Herman city council was former Donnelly area resident Jason Strand.

Welcome to another edition of the Donnelly news. This issue

dedicated to the memory of my Dad, who passed away on Oct 31st, 2005

Weather news:   it is beginning to look like we will have a long winter with already several inches of snow and cold temps.  Saw a couple of cornfields yet to be harvested in my travels  this week

ST. John's/Kongsvinger news: starting Nov 1st, the parish moves back inside with services at Kongsvinger on the first 3rd & 5th Sunday 2 & 4th Sundays at s John's at 9:30 am.

• Masks are required

• No singing or reading/speaking for the congregation

• Social distancing required

• Pews will be marked for seating to allow distancing

• Worship materials will be available on a table as congregants enter (bulletins, communion, and offering plates)

• No coat racks; please take your coats and jackets with you to your seat

• Broadcast on FM for those who wish to continue worship in your car, worship material available for pickup (St. John's –inside the kitchen door, Kongsvinger-inside kitchen door)

• Worship services will still be recorded and posted on Facebook and You-Tube

Arlene Gulbrandson of Barrett passed away on Oct 27th survivors include her son Gary (Bonnie) Gulbrandson of Donnelly and their family.

Edward Dummer of Alex, formerly of Donnelly, passed away on Oct 28th. He was a manager at the Donnelly co-op for many years

Marilyn Olson of Herman passed away on Oct21st; she was preceded in death by her brother & sister-in-law Alan (Joyce) Olson of Donnelly

Reminder today is Election Day. All voters outside of the city limits of Morris will vote by mail-in Stevens co.

Betty Johnson of Donnelly passed away on Oct 11th. They have fixed the problem, which caused her live steam not to work, and you may view it on the funeral home website now.

Orville Brunkow of Chokio passed away on   Oct 15th local survivors include his sister Virene Olson of Morris and her children. Her late husband, Chester, was from the Donnelly area.

 

Most voters in the Donnelly area will vote by mail or at the courthouse in Morris.

Joyce Mau Trisko and Eliane Overson Stork were among those of us who attended the funeral luncheon for Betty Johnson at the old #1 in Morris on Oct 14th.

Weather news, for the most part, the weather has been sunny & mild we had a good rain shower sun eve. Giant mountains of corn in the area mean corn harvest is precedency rabidly some tiling, and fall tillage is =also going on in the area.

ST. John's/Kongsvinger news: The October schedule is the same as it has been for several months, with drive-in communion services at Kong on the first Sunday of the month and the 4th Sunday at St John's. Other Sundays will be a service of the word. No other activities will take place in either church until further notice.  I assume Nov. will be the same.

KAYLA VOLKER & Joel Lyle were married on Aug.1st at the Bratten barn -Glenwood. her dad is Kevin Volker of the Donnelly area

Cruz Michael Villella was born on September 29th to Gerardo villa & Courtney Jergenson of Morris grandparents include Jerri Jergenson of Morris, great grandparents include bob & barb Jergenson of Morris.

Seira Marie Hormann was born on September 30th at scmc to drew and Miranda Hormann of Starbuck.  Grandparents are dean & Leila Hormann of Starbuck. The late John Delong is great grandparent,

Wally Raasch of Starbuck passed away on October 3rd; survivors include his granddaughter, jenny (Joey (Fults) of Donnelly.

The community club had a meeting on October 5th. We decided that we will plan on doing everything we had planned on doing this year at next year's show. Thanks in part to our raffle sales; we are ok finically. We tentatively scheduled the next meeting to be held in Feb. Discussion was held on the annual community Halloween party. It will have to be in the park if we have one that is yet to be determined.

Other Church news, Faith-Morris now has outdoor worship Sun at 9 a.m. first-Morris is at 9:30 a.m. TLC- Cyrus will have a parking lot service on September 27th at 9:30 a.m.


The Good Shepherd Lutheran Church schedule: indoor and outdoor services will continue on Sun a.m. and Wed eve services at least through September.  SS will meet outside.

Canceled: the RUSC Kinship quarter craze scheduled for September 19th.

Dan Luthi of Hancock passed away on August 31st, survivors include his son Arron (Amanda) Luthi of Donnelly & their family and sister-in-law Kay (Anderson) (Gene) Hacker of Hancock and their family. She is a former Donnelly area resident.



Herb Kloos of Barret, formerly of Donnelly, passed away on August 27th.  Survivors include his wife Carol, son Paul (Gail), and their family, all of the Donnelly area.

Welcome to another edition of the Donnelly news. Please note due to the labor day holiday I have an early deadline next week. (wed. noon)

Well, I have decided to start listing "normal" meetings; however, please check with somebody beforehand to find out for sure if a scheduled meeting/event is still on. I do not believe the bookmobile has restarted its visits to area towns yet. The Date and time of next community club mtg are TBA DFD is meeting 2 & 3rd Mon of the month, rendsville 4-H is TBA. City council meets on Sept 5th at 4 pm at the council chambers

Weather News, crops are looking good thanks to some timely rains no significant storm damage in our area.

Canceled the 2020 papa's angels fundraiser plans are to return in Sept. of 2021. The Stevens county genealogical society will not meet again until next yr.

Funeral services for Loiann Frank are on Aug.29th at 11 am at Shalom Lutheran Church, Alex mn. She passed away in Jan of '20.

Gene Kummrow, of Raymond mn formerly of Morris, passed away on Mar 14th; survivors include his son Keven (Sherrie Fults) and their family. She is a former Donnelly area resident. He was a long time member of the threshing Bee family; His funeral will be on Sept 12th at 11 am at Zion Morris.

Robert (Bob) Tommolla of Morris formerly of the Donnelly area passed away on Aug 18th; survivors, including his wife Myrna Duwenhoegger, are also a former Donnelly area resident.

Congrats to the Morris eagles’ bb team that qualified for the state tournament recently, players include Bryce & Brady Jergenson. The Clinton Cards are also going to the state they drafted Chandler Erickson for their team.

RUSC Kinship Golf FORE MENTORING is today (Tue.) starting at 4:30 P.M. at Pomme De golf club. Their annual quarter craze has been rescheduled for Sept.  19th at the legion in Morris more info call the office in Morris 585-7572
