Welcome to another edition of the Donnelly news.
Weather news:Two  inches of rain on Friday evening and Saturday a.m. ,sunny and mild Saturday aft/eve and this week.

St. John’s/ Kongsvinger news: The summer schedule will conclude with services on September 3rd at St. John’s., at 9 a.m.


           
Community news:well another bee is history thanks to everyone who came out and helped out in anyway. 2 inches of rain Friday eve washed out some events on Friday evening and Saturday. But a nice sunny day Sun helped make up for it. Remember next yrs. show is August. 24th-25th the tri-feature is all things made by Oliver, Cockshutt and Moline

 On September 11th .the bookmobile will be in town on Main St. from 3:30-3:45 p.m.,
The rensdvile4-h will meet on Sept 5th at 7 pm at St. John’s Donnelly, note change of date due to the Labor Day holiday
City council meets September 2nd at 4 p.m. in the city council chambers
The new 2017-2018 threshing bee royalty are: Jessalyn Marshall Junior Queen, Katlin Peterson Junior princess, Tessa Hennessy, little miss Donnelly
Jonnna and Justin Moser won purple ribbons on their cattle at the state fair
Cross country Morris invite Isabel Fynboh 1st 8th grade

Past week visit to my aunt Pearl at her apt. Donnelly threshing bee activities, community choir concert at assumption, bible study at GS w/Eystad’s Fmsc packing events at Morris elem school law enforcement picnic at Eastside Park, work night on the bee grounds visit to Ruth strand at her apt in Alex, swcd family fun night at Pomme de Park, services at GS w/Eystads. Aug 26th-sept 1st

Welcome to another edition of the Donnelly news.
Weather news: after about a week of rain it was nice to see the sun again this week.

St. John’s/ Kongsvinger news: The summer schedule will conclude with services on September 3rd at St. John’s .The parish will be leading the community services at 9 a.m. on August 27th under the big top at the threshing bee. There will be no services at either church that day.

Kongsvinger will be serving meals; St John’s will have their sweet shop, the parish youth the pop shack again this year at the bee

St Charles (Theresia’s)-Herman will again have their hamburger stand at the bee



Other church news: Gladys Mungo, from Haiti’s Children Inc., will be at Good Shepherd on August 27 for services at 9 a.m. plus a pot luck meal afterwards. August 30th will be the last Wednesday evening service at the church
The Feed My Starving Children mobile packing event will be held on August 28th-30th at the Morris area elementary school, more info more contact the Morris Evangelical Free church at 589-2808
 Grief Share will meet every Monday at Morris Evangelical Free Church from 4-6 p.m. for a total of 14 weeks.  For more info, contact Neil Leroux at 589-1788 or the church office at 589-2808.
All are invited to come and sing in a Summer Community Choir! Rehearsals will be at 7:00 p.m. at Assumption Church on: Aug. 27th. The choir will then present a concert open to the public on Monday, August 28 at 7:00 p.m. at Assumption Church.
Death notices: Lori Lerbs passed away on August 16th and Mark Hickman passed away on August 17th both were from Donnelly

Retirement party for former Donnelly resident David Fluegel as head of the Southwest Minn. sustainable developmental partnership, will be held on August 31st from 3:30-7 P.M. (program at 5:30 P.M.) at Hotel 200-Moris
The final parade for this year’s Threshing bee royalty was the Cornfest parade in Ortonville on August 20th
The Donnelly Threshing Bee (aka our annual family reunion) will be held today (Saturday.) and tomorrow (Sunday) on the grounds on the south east corner of Donnelly. This year’s feature is all things made by Allis; the theme is “yippee it’s time for the bee”. For more information you can visit the website: http://www.donnellythreshingbee.com and/or the new Facebook page (one with the orange button on it).Anyone who wishes to bring items for display, play, sing, do some demonstrations etc. is welcome to do so. I have my cart on the ground again this year for use by handicapped individuals. If you have any questions and/or concerns stop into the depot and talk to whoever is behind the desk or find one of the officers wearing shirts and caps with a shaft of wheat on them. No dogs bikes/dogs allowed on grounds golf carts must be registered at the depot, tractor  pullers, exhibitors, car show people etc. please enter by the south gate, ph. # on grounds is 246-3272

The 2nd work night for the bee is at 6:30 p.m., on August 29th to take things down and put them away. Reminder any help before and/or after, during, the bee is welcome.
There will be a bike ride, a DJ, and other activities at “A Place to be” during the weekend, contact them for more details

Moose island raiders took first place in 9-f sportsmen club trap shooting league, Jane Harstad, BJ Werk, Ryan Smith, Larry Ascheman, earned 25 straight patches, Ryan Smith 75 straight birds

Aug 19th-25th

Welcome to another edition of the Donnelly news.
Weather news:   it has rained off and on almost every day in the last week and is still raining as I write this Wednesday evening, badly needed, but made for a wet time at the Morris fair over the weekend; the produce/crops at the fair looked nice though.

St. John’s/ Kongsvinger news: The summer schedule will continue until early September, Sunday services are at 10 A.M.; Wednesday evening services are at 7 P.M.  August 23rd at Kongsvinger, August 20th and September 3rd St. John’s .The parish will be leading the community services at 9 a.m. on August 27th at the threshing bee. There will be no services at either church that day. Worship on Sunday, August 20 will be a Joint Service of Holy Communion and Parish Office Dedication at 10 A.M. at St. John's Church. Lunch will be served following worship (rather than at 9:15 A.M.) Everyone is welcome!


 The remaining summer schedule is found in the August Newsletter, copies are available at both churches or from the parish office
Our services will be broadcast on KMRS at 11 A.M. on August 20th

Death notice Florence Christians of Morris passed away on August 13th survivors include her daughter Brenda (Jeff) Volker of Morris formerly of Donnelly and their family.

The Donnelly community club had a lengthy meeting on August 13th as we put the final touches on plans for the bee.

We are looking for somebody to take over the white elephant sale, if not it will not be held this year. Work schedules have been mailed out. I do plan to have my cart on the ground again this year for use by handicapped individuals

Activities on Sunday start with the open air church service continue with the big parade through town, the horse pull and cash drawing with lots going on both days
Celebration the Chokio coyotes won the region 9c amateur bb title, chandler & ales Erickson and Tom Holland are members of that team, Bernice Erdahl had the grand champion leffsa in the homemakers’ bldg. again this yr. Monson motors won the elementary sb title this yr., Addison cihak was a member of that team. The 10 u Morris bb team took third at the state tournament this yr. Jonah & drew huebner were members of that team.
4-h results will be published in a special edition to the Aug. 27th paper

Aug 12th-18th

Welcome to another edition of the Donnelly news.
Weather news:  we had some welcome rain Wednesday evening crops do continue to look good, some grain is being harvested; I see the grain for the bee has been shocked.  Garden produce and crops at the Glenwood fair looked good as does what I saw the Morris fair on Wednesday.
St. John’s/ Kongsvinger news: The summer schedule will continue until early September, Sunday services are at 10 A.M.; Wednesday evening services are at 7 P.M. August 13th and 23rd at Kongsvinger, August 20th St. John’s .The remaining summer schedule is found in the August. Newsletter, copies are available at both churches or from the parish office

Activities on Saturday start at 7 a.m. with pancake breakfast and a 5k run registration and conclude in the evening with music by pure country on the grounds after the coronation. Please note that there will not be a dance in the hall this year.in between we will have a sb tournament 5k tractorcade kiddie and regular  tr. pulls bean bag tournament queen coronation and pure country music. Lots of activities going both days including threshing sawing, horseshoe tournament, demonstrations and displays in the depot, school house, and other buildings and on the grounds. Anyone is welcome to bring a tr. or machinery or some other display, do some demonstrating play sing etc.
The Threshing Bee royalty were part of the Flekkefest parade in Elbow Lake on August. 6th  
2016-2017 candidates for Jr. threshing bee queen are Jessalyn Marshall, (Brain and Diane Richardson); Hailey Lesmeister (Casey and Danielle) grandparents, Tom and Roxanne Lesmeister, great grandmother Della Dunn; Kaitlyn Peterson (Mike and Stacey (Volker)); Geoff and Brenda Volker.  Little miss candidate is Tessa Hennessy daughter of Lisa and Josh Hennesy grandparents Sharon van horn and Clay and Marlene van Horn of Donnelly
Brecken Carl Erickson was born on August. 8 to Adam and Kate Erickson of Cyrus; grandparents include Mark and Deb Erickson of Donnelly, great grandmother Elsie Raasch of Morris

Welcome to another edition of the Donnelly news.
Weather news: It sounds like a broken record but it is still very hot and dry around here, in spite of it, the crops I have seen continue to look good, however as I am writing this Wednesday eve we are getting a light rain
St. John’s/ Kongsvinger news: The summer schedule will continue until early September, Sunday services are at 10 A.M.; Wednesday evening services are at 7 P.M. August 6th at St. John’s August 9th and 13th at Kongsvinger The remaining summer schedule is found in the July newsletter copies are available at both churches or from the parish office

They will be put up in the area in the upcoming weeks. We are looking for somebody to take over the white elephant sale and the kiddie parade, if not they will not be held this year. The theme this year is “Yippee it’s time for the bee”. The bee is August. 26 and 27th the feature is all things made by Allis Chalmers. Next year’s tri-feature is all things made by Cockshutt, Moline and Oliver. Activities begin on Friday evening this year with a community supper starting a 5 p.m. with tractor and kids games to follow, with lots of activities going on all weekend

The Morris 13U baseball team took second place at the MSF 2A state tournament in Marshall over the weekend. Rob Jergenson is one the coaches
The Morris 10U baseball team took third place in the 10U 2A state tournament over the weekend in Rosemount. Team members include Drew Huebner, Jonah Huebner, and Justin Geise: Brian Geise is the coach
