Welcome to another addition of the Donnelly news
Weather news: it has been hot and humid most of the last week a few rain showers have brought some relief from the heat.  All the crops I have seen look very green and luscious and the grain looks great too.
St John’s/Kongsvinger news: 4 part JOINT PARISH BIBLE STUDY ON ACTS begins on Monday, August 3, from 7 P.M. to 8 P.M. at Kongsvinger. [August 10th at St. John’s] Bring your own Bible. Please read the first two chapters of Acts prior to coming to the Bible Study.
Wednesday August 5th, Supper will be served at 6 P.M. prior to the 7 P.M. worship service at St. John’s.

Community news    Rocking c horse ranch (Van Horn’s) will have its grand opening today (Sat.) from 1-7 p.m. at the farm (59312 150th St Donnelly) with a variety of activities (western pottery, pony rides, tours of grandpa’s Toyland etc.) Tickets available at the gate
On August 3rd.the bookmobile will be in town at 3:30 p.m. on main st the City council and rendsville 4-h will meet at the fire and community hall at 7 p.m.
No Stevens County genealogical society meeting this month, next one is Sept 3rd
The VFW ladies Auxiliary annual salad luncheon is on August 6th at the old # 1 Southside from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Legion baseball sweet corn fund raiser tonight (Sat.) starting at 5 p.m. at the Legion, free will offering

A reminder that any help before, during, or after the Bee is welcome.   I see that preparations for the grain shocking are underway on the grounds

The threshing bee Royalty were part of the watterma parade in Glenwood on July 26th
The candidates for threshing bee Royalty were announced at a “meet the candidate’s” forum on July 27th. Little Miss Donnelly candidates are Amya Raths her parents are Scott and Jaclyn Raths, grandparents are Deb and Howard Kill, great grandparents are Geshien Kill and Rose Uhden, Tabitha Van Horn parents Josh and Beth Keifer and the late Curtis Van horn, grandparents are Cole and Marlene van Horn and Sharon Van Horn; Jeff and Cindy Gulbrandson, great grandmother is Arlene Gulbrandson, Savannah Aanerud her parents are Andy and Heather ,grandparents are Jim and Loraine;   Cheyenne Baumgart her parents are Scott and Jodi Arndt.
Linda O ‘Kane of Fennimore Wis. and her sister in law Sue Steiner, from Rockford, Illinois spent some time last week in ND and Minn. visiting family and friends including her brother Mark Koepke and me.
Marge Trost Speer recently celebrated her 90th birthday

Weather news: : I was in Herman last Fri eve but understand there were some strong winds to hit Morris ,no major damage afterwards that I saw just a few small branches down. It was hot and humid over the weekend; most of this week has been sunny and mild.  The corn continues to look fantastic; the garden produce on display at the Herman fair looked good too
St John’s/Kongsvinger news: the summer worship schedule continues until Aug. 23rd (Kongsvinger) & 25th (st John’s)

Leif Arelon Weeding was born on July 13at Stevens Community Medical Center in Morris to Casie and John Weeding of Morris.  . Grandparents are Arnie and Lori Orsland and David and Shirley Weeding from Halstad, Minn. Great grandparents are Darlene Hauge from Halstad, Minn. and Sharon Henrichs from Chokio, Minn.

The Morris Men’s fishing league results: swamp busters 2nd place, team members included Gary Gulbrandson; 3rd place sharp filets; members included Ryan Smith and Nancy Kisgen

Weather news: most of the last week has been sunny and humid; air conditions and fans have had a good work out esp. over the weekend. Thankfully we escaped the severe weather that hit other parts of the state i.e. Brainerd. Crops esp. the corn continues to look fantastic although we can use more rain. As I drove to Barrett Wed. evening I saw several irrigation systems going when I got to the Hy. 27/59 intersection I hit a major down pour when I got home I saw we had had some rain here.

St John’s/Kongsvinger news: the summer worship schedule continues until further notice

Good shepherd news: there will be no bible study on July 21st as Pr Mike will be gone on continuing education

Community news: On July 20th the bookmobile will be in town at 3:30 p.m. on main st and the firemen will meet all at 7 p.m. at the fire hall in Donnelly

It is going to be a fun, busy “Bee" weekend.
There will be an open house baby shower for Brianna Neuman-Summer today (Saturday) from 10 a.m. to noon at the Morris Senior Center. Everyone is welcome
The LTD annual motor cycle run will be held today (Saturday) starting in Appleton at 10 a.m. traveling through the area with a stop in Morris about 12:45 p.m., I understand this will their last ride.

“Ms. Dawn Nellie” Pageant will be held on Friday evening, July 24, at the Donnelly Hall at 7:30 p.m. Come and watch local talent vie for the coveted title of “Ms. Dawn Nellie!”  Refreshments will be served.  Everyone is welcome Tickets will be available at the door this is a fundraiser for the 50th aniv celebration of the bee

Death notice: former Donnelly area resident Keith Sorensen passed away on July 10th a celebration of life will be held on July 19th in Rochester.

Becca Holland won the 1-on-1 award at the recent girls’ bb camp at MAHS
The community club held another lengthy meeting on July 13th as we continue to finalize plans for the bee and other events. Weather news: crops continue to look very nice. My neighbor’s rain gauge said we got 3 inches of rain on Sun eve which I understand caused some local flooding in Morris. People I have talked to in the Donnelly area said they got anywheres from no rain to about an inch
St John’s/Kongsvinger news: there will be joint services at 9 a.m. at Kongsvinger every Sunday and at 7 p.m. every Wed. eve at St John’s throughout July and Aug.
The Kongsvinger Krusaders will again be participating in the Stevens county relay for Life on July 17th from 6 p.m. to midnight at Pomme de Park; contact Algene Larson or Sandy Dunn for more info, to make a donation, purchase a luminaire, or to participate as a walker
Other church news: the new location for “Burgers, Beverages and Blessings” on Wed evenings at 7 p.m. is at the old #1 Southside unless it is in use then it will be held in the basement.
Community news, on July 13th the community club and firemen will meet all @ 7 p.m. in Donnelly at the fire and community halls in Donnelly
There will be two open house bridal showers today (Saturday): the first is for Breanna Kruize, bride to be of Mitch Daly, from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Morris. Parents are Peg and Brian Kruize and Pam and Paul Daly. Bring your favorite recipe; the second one is for Miranda Hauglund, bride to be of Josh Roaldson, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the residence of Vicky Dosdall, 44725 175th St., Morris. Miranda is the daughter of Jim and JoAnn Hauglund of Donnelly. The couple is registered at Target, Bed Bath and Beyond and Fleet Farm gift cards.
From Sandy Dunn: Nominations for our 2015 Donnelly Threshing Bee Royalty candidates are now open July 1 - 15.  Look for drop boxes in Donnelly at these locations.  Donnelly Coop, Donnelly Post Office and HD and Co. As of August 29, you must be between the following age groups. Little Miss 8-10 yrs.   and    Queen/Princess 14-18 years For those that are eligible to run for 2015 royalty, you will receive addition information by mid- July. Note change of date for "Meet the Candidates" is Monday July 27th. Donnelly Threshing Bee will be celebrating its 50th Anniversary this year.  The Royalty Committee will be hosting a Past Royalty Reunion to be held on that Saturday (29th) of the Bee. Jeanette Saunders of Benson passed away on June 27th; survivors include her brother former Donnelly area resident Delbert (Bev) Henrichs of New Richland Wis.
Celebrations: Brady Cardwell was a member of the all-camp team at the Greg Swartz memorial wrestling camp held recently in Morris
Sydney Beyer and Mac Kampmeier were married on June 27th in Chokio
Raymond and Linda Ellingworth of New York Mills along with Dean and Leila Hormann of Starbuck are happy to announce the engagement of their children, Rebecca and Dexter. His grandfather is former Donnelly area resident John Delong
Sarah Jackson was crowned Miss Minnewaska princess on July 3rd her parents are Darwin Jackson of Starbuck and Deb and Kyle Smith of the Donnelly area
The Donnelly fire dept. won third place at the water fight in Graceville on July 5th and second in Morris on July 8th
The threshing bee royalty were part of the starbuck heritage day parade on July 4th

Good shepherd news:  summer book club One Way Love starts July 12th after services, and continues for 6 weeks
Past week July 3rd Paul and Lori Dornquist, Helen Peterson, Wally Mccollar and I had supper together at the Lake Geneva Christian center in Alex. On the 4th of July I started the day at Kongsvinger, traveled to Hancock for their parade and then to starbuck for their parade, queen coronation, and fireworks, July 5th Durke visitation at funeral home ,services at WWV w/Pr mike Hanson officiating. July 7th visited Verle and Della Dunn in Donnelly, July 8th helped out at naps; attended BBB at Old # 1 and the Morris fire dept. water fights.

Welcome to another addition of the Donnelly news Happy 4th of July everyone, most Donnelly business will be closed until July 6th
Weather news: in my travels the crops all look very good so far thanks to some timely rains and sunny mild weather
St John’s/Kongsvinger news: there will be joint services at 9 a.m. at Kongsvinger every Sunday and at 7 p.m. every Wed. eve at St John’s; until further notice.  
The annual Fourth of July fellowship gathering will be held at the Kongsvinger Parish Hall today, (Saturday) starting with a flag raising ceremony at 11:30 a.m.  Come, reflect on the day, and enjoy a potluck dinner together (ice cream, bread, and beverages furnished).  Everyone is welcome

We had a good turnout for our ice cream social/block party on June 27th  it afforded me with an opportunity to visit with my former farm neighbors Rueben and Bernadine Kruize from WY. They were in MN for a family reunion.
