October 29th- November 5th

Welcome to another edition of the Donnelly news
Weather news: after a cold start to the weekend on Friday; Saturday and Sunday were very nice, as I am writing this on Tuesday evening it has rained most of the day.  Most of the corn is picked, many fields have also been worked, a farmer friend told me his corn yielded about 180 bushels an acre this yr.
St. John’s Kongsvinger news: October 30th is confirmation Sunday at Kongsvinger at 11 a.m. followed by a confirmation reception by the Kongsvinger Thrivent group. We have two Confirmands this year
Women’s book club will meet on November 1st at 1:30 p.m. at Jeanne Ennen’s home note change of date and meeting place
 A DVD of Kongsvinger’s 140th anniversary is available to check out from the parish office, also other merchandise from the event i.e. coffee mugs can be purchased from the office
Honey sales have begun again by confirmation students; they will be selling them before and after services at Kongsvinger on Sundays through November and at the Kongsvinger fall festival on November 20th
Workdays for the Kongsvinger Fall festival on November 20th are: November 2nd Norwegian sweets day @ 4 p.m., November 12 lefse making day @ 9 a.m. November 16th lefse making day 2 at 4 p.m...
Third graders receiving bible this year were Addison Cihak, Scarlett Bergstrom McGee, Bryce Lehman, Lydia Pollard, and Hunter Smith
GSLC news “A man called Luther” will be a five part Adult Ed course starting on October 30th; it will also be new member sun.

THE GS ANNUAL MEETING WILL BE HELD ON Nov 20th following services, a pot luck dinner will follow 
The movie “Where Luther Walked” will be shown on October 30th at 10:40 a.m. at First Lutheran-Morris
Scandinavian heritage dinner at First Lutheran –Morris Nov 2nd starting at 3 p.m. tickets available at the door
MEATBALL SUPPER AT FAITH –Morris ON Nov 9th starting at 4 p.m. tickets available at the door
There will be no more burgers bereaves, and blessing until next year at the diamond supper club due to church dinners, thanksgiving ,advent ,Christmas etc.
Please get the word out about the first of our Reformation Celebration Events that will take place on Reformation Sunday, October 30th. The Reformation Celebration Kick-Off Event will be from 3-5 p.m. at LWLC -Alexandria MN from 3-4 p.m. there will be fellowship time, with Coffee and Cookies being served. At 4 p.m. there will be a skit entitled “Martin and Katie”, featuring Johan and Sonja Hinderlie, formerly of Mount Carmel Ministries of Alexandria. Please make sure you invite people to join you for this event… as we join Martin Luther in declaring, “Here we stand; we cannot do otherwise. God help us. Amen
Trick or trunk will be held at Federated Church Morris on October 31st from 5-7 p.m.

On November 7th the bookmobile will be in town on Main St. from 3:45- 4 p.m.,
November 8th is Election Day residents of the city of Donnelly will vote in the town hall most of the township residents in in the Donnelly area will vote by mail. Contact the Stevens county auditor’s office for more details

Rockin C horse will be open every Sunday next year (May –October.) from 11-5
Donnelly area youth group will meet on November 16th 4-6 p.m. at St. John’s

"Gary" E. Ritzschke of Herman passed away on October 19th survivors include his daughter Jodi (Jason) Strand of Herman and their family, Jason is a former Donnelly area resident
Douglas L. Clark of Morris passed away on October 22nd survivors include his daughter former Donnelly resident Amie Uphoff
Former Donnelly area resident Colleen Miller of Morris passed away on October 24th survivors include her sister Jeanne (Dan) Koehntop of Donnelly and their family

Weather news it has been a nice week a lot of corn has been picked but still a lot get done was told moistures is about 18-19%

St. John’s Kongsvinger news a DVD of Kong 140th is available to check out from the parish office

Honey sales have begun again by confirmation students; they will be selling them before and after services at Kongsvinger on Sundays through Nov. and at the Kongsvinger fall festival on Nov. 20



Fall festival  planning meeting on Oct 24th at the Kongsvinger parish hall at 6:30 pm, workdays are Nov. 2nd Norwegian sweets day @ 4 pm, November 12 lefse making day @ 9 am November 16th leffsa make making day 2 at 4 pm

Reverend Lloyd C. Kallevig of Wadena passed away on Oct. 13th his brother Emil was pastor at Kongsvinger in the ‘50’s

These events are happening today (Sat): Post nuptial wedding shower for Justin and Alina (Lena) Janachovsky will be held from 10:00 a.m. until noon at St. John’s Church in Donnelly. Couple is registered at Bed, Bath and Beyond and Home Depot. Everyone is welcome!  His parents are Mark and Karen Janachovsky grandfather is Milfred Kaehler



There will be an open house baby shower for Jessica (Nohl) and Taylor Witt at the Morris Evangelical Free church from 9:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m. her parents are Tracy (Loge) and Ray Nohl

Donnelly community club had their final meeting of the year on Oct 17th it was a very good year for us. Our next meeting is the annual meeting tentatively scheduled for January; keep an eye on the community bulletin board in the park for info about upcoming events i.e. Halloween and Christmas parties. Reminder next year’s Bee is Aug. 26th & 27th the feature will be Allis Chalmers

Brooke Gilespie is a member of the tiger vb team that is wcc co-champ and received the section 3AA #1 seed, her mother Judy is an ast. Coach,
Savannah Aanerud is a member of the tiger cross country that won the west central conference championship she finished 19th.
Levin Stand is a member of the tiger fb team that was named Minnesota Football Program of the Year, they were also conference runner-up’s

Oct 15th I represented GSLC at the installation service for Rev Fran Hill at St John's-Starbuck

Weather news cooler days and nights are a reminder that is fall.  Most farmers in the area are done with beans some corn has been picked but think it needs to dry out more before too much more can be done
St. John’s Kongsvinger news: ST. JOHN’S fall fest will be held today Saturday; from 10:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.
Our services will be broadcast on the radio on October`6th at 11 a.m. in memory of Bruce Erdahl by Sue Erdahl Nelson and family

Good Shepherd news:  New member Sunday will be October 30th, if interested in joining the church talk to Pr Mike Hanson

Celebrations: In the past several weeks the tiger cc has competed in the Little Crow, Milca mega meet, Ortonville ;Sauck Center  and Benson invitational with both the girls and boys finishing in the top 10 in all of them ;Savanah and Micah Aanerud, Auddy Speer, Kalen Erdahl: Isabel Fynboh are Donnelly area members of those teams. Brooke Gillespie was part of the Tiger Volleyball team that took 7th place at the class AA showcase in Burnsville on September 23rd and 24th, her mother Judy is an assistant coach for the team .They also won the Sauk Rapids tournament last weekend
The eight grade volleyball team won its own invite recently; Castalia kill and Courtney Lehman were members of that team
Fire prevention poster winners: St. Mary’s 4th-5th Drew Huebner 3rd K-1st gr. Britany Woodke 3rd gr.
Wilkin –Stevens County 4-h judging team competed in the MN. State 4-h hose judging competition they place 9th as a team and will represent the state at the Arabian national youth judging completion in Tulsa Ok.; in October  Savanah Aanerud was a member of that team she finished 14th in oral reasons; 30th overall
The threshing bee royalty were part of the tiger homecoming parade on Sept. 30th
After our a.m. Bible study at Good Shepherd Lutheran church on October 4th we enjoyed cake and coffee to celebrate Jim Eystad’s birthday which was October 5th

October 8th-14th

Welcome to another edition of the Donnelly news



Weather news except for a cool, rainy day, on Tuesday, it has been fairly pleasant and mild the past week.  Looks like most farmers have their beans out, some corn harvest has started, little too wet yet to do much yet I guess

St. John’s Kongsvinger news:  installation of Sunday school teachers will take place on October 9th at both services; all teachers and subs should plan to attend



 ST. JOHN’S FALL FEST will be held on Saturday, October 15; from 10:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.

St. John’s Kongsvinger youth group meets on October 19th from 4-6 p.m. at ST. John’s



Good Shepherd news:  New member Sunday will be October 30th, if interested in joining the church talk to Pr Mike Hanson





These events take place on today (Saturday): FALL BAZAAR at Zion Lutheran Church, Morris from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.; FALL BAKE SALE at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Chokio, Silent auction and raffle from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The Glacial Ridge Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church fall gathering will be held at Trinity-Clinton October 10th beginning with registration at 4:30 p.m. and meal at 5 p.m. Tickets available at the door



Fall family dinner at United Methodist-Herman October 16th 11a.m. 1 p.m.

The movie “WHERE LUTHER WALKED” will be shown on October 30th at 10:40 a.m. at First Lutheran-Morris,

 October 10, 7:00 p.m. at Federated Church, Morris, Musician and singer Tony DeBlois who was born weighing 1#, ¾ oz, is blind, autistic and has Savant Syndrome has been playing piano since the age of 2. His independent attitude is an inspiration to all who meet him. Reception will follow the free concert



Death notice: Vera Kill of Morris passed away on Sept 28th survivors include her son Doug (Peggy Kopel) Peggy is a former Donnelly are resident

Former Donnelly area resident Ken Pedersen of Alex passed away on Sept 30th he and his brother (Merrill) owned and operated the funeral home in Morris for many years

On October 10th the bookmobile will be in town on Main St. from 3:45- 4 p.m., and at 7 p.m. the firemen will meet at the fire hall and The Donnelly community club will meet at the community hall, this will probably be our last meeting of the year



October 17th the Morris area school board will meet at 7 p.m. in the Donnelly hall





Rockin C Horse farm pumpkin days October 15 (10-5) and October. 16th (noon to 5 p.m.) at the ranch 7 miles west of Donnelly on 150th st

There will be an open house 90th birthday party for Opal Harstad at her apartment in the Green river apts. October 9th from 1-3 p.m.

Kirby Sayles and Alissa Melberg are happy to announce their engagement. Alissa is the daughter of Penny Melberg and Keith Wetzel and Jay and Laurie Melberg. Her grandparents are Audrey and Nancy Henrichs from Donnelly
