donnelly news

Mar 31st-Apr.7th
Welcome to another edition of the Donnelly news.
Since everything from community events to church services has been ppd or canceled due to the Coronavirus I have decided not to list any events for the foreseeable future, please double check on the status of any events I have listed in my past columns before planning on attending any previously scheduled events
Weather News well officially it is spring here but still kind of chilly out, although the forecast is for "spring-like" weather in the days ahead
No services and events at St. John's and Kongsvinger, Donnelly; Gslc, Morris, or any other church in the area until further notice. Some churches, pastors in the area are posting devotions, "services," etc. on places like Facebook, YouTube, etc.

May 2nd is the new date for all Republican Congressional district meetings. It is undecided at this time if they will be physically held or done remotely. More info contact your local BPOU chair.
Ryan Winther of Herman passed away on Mar 20th survivors include his grandparent's in-law Glen and Gertie Werk of Donnelly
Parker Anthony Arnold was born on Mar 18th at scmc to Gabe and Lana Arnold of Donnelly.
This week I am going to write a little bit about the history of the bee. It all began in 1965 as a fundraiser for a proposed nursing home in Morris, the West Central Lutheran Home. Before they could get enough funds to do it, the "Villa" got built, so they built a Senior Living facility instead. The bee was organized by some churches in the area. One gentleman from Donnelly had a separator, and another had a steam engine, so that is kind of how it got started in Donnelly. The first two years it was held on Fri. and Sat because our steam engine operator would not thrash on Sunday. WCLH ran it for two years 1965-66 no show in '67. In '68, the Donnelly commercial (now community) club took it over and has run it ever since.  A reminder this year's show is Aug. 28-30th featuring Ford and Massy Ferguson, stay tuned for the next time and day of the community club meeting.
