Weather News:  temps have been relatively mild this week; some of the snow has melted
Donnelly church news: There will be joint services at 9:30 a.m. on the first 1st,3rd, and 5th Sundays at Kongsvinger, the 2nd, and 4th Sundays of the month at ST. John's followed by Sunday school and coffee fellowship.
Communion services are on the 1st and 4th Sundays of the month.
Ash wed services March 4th at Kongsvinger at 7 p.m. followed by lunch
Good Shepherd Lutheran church news: Lenten services every Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the church.

SWMN ELCA synod SR. High youth gathering March 27-28th in Marshall
B.B.B. will be on hiatus until after Easter
17th annual St Mary's dinner and auction on March 7th, 4-6 p.m. at the Morris National Guard Amory
Bold Outreach Sunday is on March 8th at first Morris. It starts with Worship at 9:30 a.m. with a Pancake Brunch and hands-on mission work from 10:30-12:00 p.m.
Gatherings for Widows and Widowers will meet for lunch at noon on Sunday, March 8th, in the basement of Old #1 in Morris.
The Bookmobile will be in town on Main St. on March 9th from 2:45–3 p.m.
The Stevens County Genealogical society will meet on March 5th at 1:30 p.m. at the Morris Library.
The Donnelly community club meeting is on March 9th at 7 p.m. at the community hall
Donnelly city council meets on March 7th at 4:30 p.m. in the council chambers.
The 2020 RTA phone books are out unfortunately due to the closing of HD & co there are no books in Donnelly you will have to get one  at their HQ in Hoffman or some other towns served by RTA
Jim and Lou Eystad took advantage of a beautiful sun a.m. to attend church at GSLC on February 24th. The first time they have both been there since his stroke
Congratulations this week go out to the following individual: Tristan Raths placed sixth at his weight in section individual wrestling
 The past week Tim Boetcher benefit at MAES; Harold Rippe funeral-Glenwood visit to Darlene Christofferson and Rev and Mrs. Norm Olsen at their homes in the Starbuck area en-route home, community meal- Faith-Morris, precinct caucuses old # 1, ash wed services, Good Shepherd

Weather News:  Well we did not have much of a storm last week here in town but understand it was worse out in the countryside, we have had frigid wind chills this week.
Donnelly church news: There will be joint services at 9:30 a.m. on the first 1st,3rd, and 5th Sundays at Kongsvinger, the 2nd, and 4th Sundays of the month at ST. John's followed by Sunday school and coffee fellowship.
Communion services are on the 1st and 4th Sundays of the month.
KMRS broadcasts are still available for sponsorship in 2020 contact the parish office for details.
Sandy Dunn has updated the Kongsvinger history book, contact her or the parish office for a copy.

Congratulations this week go out to the following individuals: Tristin Raths KMRS. Wrestler of the day at the West Central conference dual wrestling meet
Randy Schmiesing from the Chokio/Donnelly area was recently awarded Agricultural Water Quality Certification Program (MAWQCP) wildlife endorsement at the Pheasants Forever National Pheasant Fest in Minneapolis. He is one of the first to receive that award.
Kongsvinger Lutheran church repeated as champions in the RUSC KINSHIP Warm hearts and hot dish competition on February 18th at Faith.
 The past week the hymn sing at LWLC. Alex, MA/CA vs. Hancock bb game at the cougar sports center on the UMM campus, a visit to Helen Peterson in the Barret home

Feb 18th-25th

Welcome to another edition of the Donnelly news. No mail service on February 19th due to the president's day holiday

Weather News temps have been relatively mild during the last week we even had some melting going on, but Wednesday brought cold temps and blowing snow canceling school and other activities during the day

Donnelly church news: There will be joint services at 9:30 a.m. on the first 1st,3rd, and 5th Sundays at Kongsvinger, the 2nd, and 4th Sundays of the month at ST. John's followed by Sunday school and coffee fellowship.

Communion services are on the 1st and 4th Sundays of the month.

Ash Wednesday services are on February 26th at 7 p.m. at ST. John's

Bar Bingo at the place to be in Donnelly on February 21st

Today (Tuesday) at Faith-Morris starting at 5 p.m. RUSC Kinship will have their annual warm hearts and hot dishes event. This year there will be a competition between the GSLC and Kongsvinger ladies for the best church hot dish.

Precinct caucuses are on February 25th at 7 p.m. (registration 6:30 p.m.) Republicans will meet at the Old # 1, Morris, the DFL at MAHS cafeteria, for other counties /parties contact your county auditor for locations


Donnelly community club had their annual meeting on February 10th at the hall. I am happy to report the bee had a better year than I expected. A reminder that this year's bee is August 29th and 30th, and the feature is Massy Ferguson and Ford. Thanks to the community club for the Donnelly bucks I won at the meeting. The next meeting is on March 9th at 7 p.m. at the community hall

Former Donnelly resident Dorothy Perkins of Morris passed away on February 8th, I was among those who attended her funeral at St. John's on February 11th after the funeral, I visited Jim and Lou Eystad in their apartment at Legacy Living.




Former Donnelly area resident Wally Gulbrandson of Alexandria MN passed away on January 27th; his parents were the late Lloyd and Millie Gulbrandson of the Herman/Donnelly area.

A good crowd was on hand for Andy Brevig's birthday party at Kong on February 8th. Unfortunately, I was unable to make it.
Congratulations this week go out to the following individuals: Faith Butterfass honorable mention West-Central conference gymnastics, several members of her family are from the Donnelly area

Shannon Kill of Donnelly who was one of the students named to the dean's list at U of M Crookston

Travis Fults, Hailey Lesmeister, and Kylen Running Hawk were members of the MAHS one-act play that took 4th at the sections

Alivia Butterfass, Kassandra Woodke, Justin Miller, and DrewHuebner were among the 7th-grade blue ribbon science fair winners.

Tristian Raths was a member of the MAHACA. wrestling squad that finished in 4th place at the WCC duals meet, and 3rd place at the Dr. Busian invite in Morris, he finished 5th at 195 in Morris.

Weather News: well, according to the groundhog, we have six more weeks of winter ahead of us, as he saw his shadow on Sunday. We had a lovely weekend, but it has turned chilly this week
Donnelly church news: There will be joint services at 9:30 a.m. on the first 1st,3rd, and 5th Sundays at Kongsvinger, the 2nd, and 4th Sundays of the month at ST. John's followed by Sunday school and coffee fellowship.

Rev. Mike Nelson, who has been the parish pastor for 4+ years has announced he is retiring and will be leaving Donnelly in May.

Past week boys, girl’s bb doubleheader at wca, meet and greet for Dave Hughes at the Barrett inn, a visit to Helen Peterson at the Barrett home, annual meeting at Kongsvinger, and supper at the Wally McCollar home near Hancock.
January 30th I visited Jim and Lou Eystad at Legacy living, he is doing better; he can now walk with a cane
January 29th Harold Rippe of Glenwood and I had supper together at the Pizza Ranch in Glenwood
February 3rd, I visited former Donnelly area resident Ruth Strand at the Edgewood villa in Alex. She will be 104 next month.
