Welcome to another edition of the Donnelly news

Weather news: much of last week was cold, windy with some rain /snow mixed in; conditions have moderated some this week. Most farmers are done for the year everything I have read/heard is that crops were real good this year, but prices were low.

St John’s/Kongsvinger news: advent decorating today (Sat.) at 10 a.m. at Kongsvinger
KLCW brunch at 9:30 a.m. at Kongsvinger on Nov. 29th 
Joint services on Nov 29th at 11 a.m. at St John’s, no Sunday school

St. John’s “where’s the beef dinner” raffle is currently going on with the drawing to be held on December 13, at 10:30 a.m. at St. John’s. Tickets available from the church office

Good shepherd news: advent services begin on Dec. 2nd at 7 p.m. at the church

Community news: The Bookmobile will be in town on main St. in Donnelly on Dec. 7th from 3:45-4 p.m.

City council and rendsville 4-h will meet in Donnelly on Dec. 7th at 7 p.m.

“A time to remember” will be held at the Pedersen funeral home Morris on Dec. 6th at 2 p.m.

Morris senior citizens’ bazaar starting at 9 a.m. on Dec 5th at the Sr. center

The Stevens county historical society’s annual open house will be held on Dec 5th 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. at the museum
Brain Koch benefit on Dec. 4th starting at 5 p.m. at the Legion in Wheaton. He suffered a leg injury in an accident. His wife is former Donnelly area resident Jill strand

On Nov. 28 at the Morris Senior Center there will be an open house bridal shower for Marilyn Speer, bride-to-be of Josh Searle, from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. They are registered at Target and Menards, and from 2 to 5 p.m. there will be an open house 90th birthday party for Josh’s grandmother Agnes Searle. Your presence is your gift.

Correction: Open house 60th wedding aniv for Sid and Carol Wilcox Dec. 6th from 2-4 p.m. at Faith Lutheran church-Morris Sid is a former Donnelly resident



Death notices: Lynn Sax Philpot of Minneapolis passed away on Nov. 23rd. survivors include her parents, former Donnelly area residents, Curt and Betty Sax of Alexandria. Her funeral is Dec. 5th at the NE Methodist church in Minneapolis mn.

Celebrations: Wade and Amber Boerner were married on Nov 14th his parents are former Donnelly/Herman area residents Jerry and Colleen Burner

 Nominees for staff person of the year at Morris area schools included Kris Kloos; Shirley Kill, (who was also recognized for 15 yrs. of service to the district) and Betty Kill (winner)

Brady Jergenson of the Tiger FB team received the following awards at the year-end FB banquet: MVP: defense; all district and honorable mention all-area team. West central area tribune
Brooke Gillisepe of the Tiger vb team was named to the all-area team by the west central tribune
The tiger girls cc team received a gold academic award; Savanah Aanerud and Beth Holland were members of that

Past week visit to my aunt Pearl A. Anderson at her apt. in Morris, the fall festival at Kong. I also spent 2 days in the hosp. last week for various health issues and need a lot of prayer as I ponder my future.

St John’s/Kongsvinger news: Rev. Mike Nelson’s first Sunday in the parish will be Nov. 22nd.
Joint services on Nov 29th at 11 am at St John’s
Joint thanksgiving services at Kong. Nov. 25th at 7 pm followed by coffee fellowship afterwards; offering going to the Stevens county food shelf
The Kongsvinger fall festival will be held on Nov. 22nd starting at 11 a.m. on the menu pork chops baked potatoes, salads etc. also a bake sale consisting of lefse an d other Scandinavian goodies

Celebrations: Tiger VB team won the Dist. 3 AA championship and finished 6th in the state tournament .Brooke Gillisepe is a member of that team, her mother Judy is one of the coaches
College cc NCAA div II central region tournament Msu-Moorhead women finished 11th; MaKenzie Smith is a member of that team, she finished 17th she was also named to the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Division II All-Central Region team ,following the regional meet in Joplin.

Weather news: the past week has mostly sunny and mild; most farmers are done for the year.
St John’s/Kongsvinger news: Rev. Mike Nelson of Cokato has accepted the call to be the pastor of the parish, he will begin his full-time ministry with the parish on Nov 17th; his first Sunday will be Nov. 22nd.
Joint thanksgiving services at Kong. Nov. 25th at 7 pm followed by coffee fellowship afterwards; offering going to the Stevens county food shelf
The Kongsvinger fall festival will be held on Nov. 22nd starting at 11 a.m. In preparation for it a lefse making day will be held today (Sat.) starting at 9 a.m. at Kongsvinger
S.S. news: adopted grandparents’ day is Nov 15th at 9:45 a.m., on Nov 22nd S.S. will be at St John’s at 9:45 a.m.; no ss on Nov. 29th
Good shepherd news: the annual meeting will be held on Nov 22nd following services followed by brunch served by the youth

Other church news: There will be a Mission fest at Trinity Lutheran Cyrus on Nov 15th starting with services at 10:30 a.m. with special speakers Chris Butler and Jennifer Rothchild, followed by a breakfast buffet at 11:30 a.m. (free will donation) a silent auction from 9:30 a.m. -1:00 p.m. ,live auction at 12:30 p.m.. All proceeds go to our local and Global Missions.

Chris Richards will be ordained today (Sat.) at First-Morris at 4 p.m.; on Nov 15th; he will be installed as pastor at Trinity Lutheran –Cyrus at the 10:30 a.m. service.

Heart’s desire conference: at Hosanna Lutheran church Morris Nov. 17th at 7 pm with Pam Henkelman as guest speaker

Community news: The fire dept. will meet Nov. 16th in Donnelly at 7 p.m. at the fire hall, no more community club meetings until next year

Dfd turkey bingo Nov 20th starting at 7 pm at the community hall
There will be an Open house for the new nurse practitioner at the Essentia clinic in Chokio former Donnelly area resident Brenna (Ascheman) Paulson on Nov 16th from 9 am- 4:30 pm. Her parents are Larry and Peggy (Erickson) Ascheman 
Thanks to the threshing bee royalty and their families for all the hard work they put into making the annual Halloween party in Donnelly a success
Death notices Laura Schwendemann of Starbuck passed away on Oct 26th survivors include her great uncle Andy Brevig of Herman/Donnelly
June Andrew of Webster city, Iowa passed on Nov. 8th; local survivors include her mother former Donnelly resident Marlys Alm and her cousin Lou (Jim) Eystad of Donnelly
Celebrations: cc state meet; Tiger girls: (14th); Savannah Aanerud (32nd) and Beth Holland (112th)

Britta Ann Koehntop was born on Nov. 4, at Douglas County Hospital to Kyle and Mandi Koehntop of Morris. Grandparents are Roger and Bonnie Koehntop of Morris and Parker and Renee Kloos of Donnelly. Great Grandparents are Gerald and Kay Laager, Herb and Carol Kloos, and Wilfred and Doris Arens.               

 Past week: lutefisk supper first-Morris, st co gen soc. mtg, Grant co fair board mtg –Herman, meatball supper Faith.

Welcome to another edition of the Donnelly news
Weather news: after several cold rainy days last week, the weather this week has been sunny and mild. It looks like most farmers in the area have all their corn harvested, and are busy with fall tillage, ditching and other fall jobs
Correction: Maynard Thorstad of Hoffman passed away on Oct 23rd, he was preceded in death by his sister former Donnelly area resident Bernice Boerner and is survived by her family (Scott, Terry and Tammy)
St John’s/Kongsvinger news: Rev. Mike Nelson of Cokato has accepted the call to be the pastor of the parish, he will begin his full-time ministry with the parish on Nov 17th; his first Sunday will be Nov. 22nd. Help is needed to help him load up his belongings in Cokato on Nov 14th and unload them in Donnelly later that day if you can help contact the parish office.
The Kongsvinger fall festival will be held on Nov. 22nd starting at 11 a.m. In preparation for it a leffsa making day will be held on Nov.14th at 9 a.m. at Kongsvinger

The 3F (food, fellowship, and Fun) will start on November 8 at Faith –Morris and continuing the 2nd Sunday of the month during fellowship time. The first event is a painting demonstration and Q&A with artist Della Conroy. Della will be discussing the inspirations behind two of her watercolor paintings: the “Madonna and Child, and the “Magi.” She will be bringing painted religious themed cards to sell.
 Chris Richards will be ordained on Nov 14th at First-Morris at 4 p.m.; on Nov 15th; he will be installed as pastor at Trinity Lutheran –Cyrus at the 10:30 a.m. service. There will be a farewell dinner for interim pastor Minnete Johnson on Nov 8th following services at 10:30 a.m. Note change of times for services on the 8th and 15th (S.S. at 9:30 a.m.) After leaving Cyrus she will return to LCM and Trinity Lutheran –Alberta as their interim pastor again.

Tiger cross country the girls won the section 6A team title and are headed to the state. Savannah Aanerud finished in 7th; Becca Holland 90th
Congrats to Rebekah Aanerud on winning Ag Communications Placement and a Costa Rica Trip at National FFA Convention!  You can hear her on KMRS every other Sat. at 6:30 a.m.
At the VFW auxiliary membership supper Joanne Graff (25yrs) was among those reconized for their years of service to the auxiliary
Former Donnelly area resident Karenna Johnson was invited to participate in the National youth leadership forum: EXPLORE STEM
Chandler Erickson was named the UMAC Special Teams Player of the Week
