Weather news: Weather news: weather this week has been cool & damp. Lot of icy spots around meaning one has to be careful where you walk

St. John’s Kongsvinger news: The Kongsvinger annual meeting is on January 29th, about noon following services, followed by a potluck dinner

KMRS radio broadcast dates for 2017 are February 19, April 9, June 18, August 20, October 15, and December 31. The cost to sponsor a broadcast in memory of a loved one or in honor of a special occasion is $65.00. If you would like to sponsor one of these broadcasts in 2017, please contact the Parish Office at 246-3211 and reserve your date

Good shepherd news:   There will be a fundraising breakfast (French toast, sausages etc.) on January 29th after services (about 10:30 a.m.) for the Ronald McDonald house proceeds will provide food supplies for the people staying there. Matching funds provided by Thrivent, free will donation The Hanson family is now home (hopefully) for good

Community events: on Feb.6th at 7 pm the city council and Rendsville 4-H will meet at city hall & St. John’s
The bookmobile will be in town on January 30th on main st from 3:45 -4 pm
On February 13th the firemen will meet at the fire hall at 7 pm and the Donnelly community club will have their annual meeting starting with a meal at 6:30 pm at the community hall. If unable to attend you can send your dues to the Donnelly community club Donnelly mn

The Stevens County Republican Party convention will be on February 10th    at the Morris Legion at 7 p.m.

Stevens County Historical Society will have their annual meeting on February 12th at Old #1 Southside beginning with social hour at noon meeting at 1 pm followed by entrainment. Rsvp by Jan 30th to 589-1719

There will be an open house bridal shower for Megan Mecklenburg, bride-to-be of Patrick Uphoff on Saturday, February 4th from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the First Baptist Church, 601 Lyndale Ave, Morris, with a program starting at 10. The couple is registered at Menards, Target, and B Inspired.

Death notices: former Donnelly area resident Judy (Sather) Suther of N.J. passed away May 18th 2016 her parents were the former Arne and Hannah Sather of Donnelly.

Betty Hoyer of Morris passed away on January 19th survivors include her daughter former Donnelly area resident Fran Cin

Celebrations: Tiger gymnastics vs. LPGE/Browerville Savannah Aanerud 3rd on Vault, 2nd on Bars, Tied for 3rd on Beam, 4th on Floor, Tied for 2nd in All Around

Knight wrestling vs. LPGE/Browerville and Pierz Keaton Long went 2-0

Tiger swimming: Detroit Lakes triangular: Levin Strand, third in the 100 breast stroke, and was part of the 200 medley that took third ;  vs. Perham Levin placed first in the 100 breast was part of the 200 free relay that finished third 200 medley that finished first

My aunt Pearl A. Anderson celebrated her 91ST birthday on January 27th. You can send her a card at 6 Thomas St. Morris MN. 56267

Jill Loge was recently elected to the board of directors of the Morris area chamber.

Past wk. Mark Koepke and I attended the Twins caravan at the Pizza Ranch, the visitation for Sharon Carlson at the Pedersen funeral home and visited my aunt Pearl A. Anderson at her apt. I also took in the Donnelly Rod and Gun club ice fishing derby on Perkins Lake, the indoor sale at heartland Mtrs. Visitation for Betty Hoyer at the funeral home, and RUSC hot dish event at Faith, visitation for Don Larson at St. Charles Catholic Church in Herman and bbb at the met lounge. Jim and Lou Eystad and I attended the memorial service for Deloris Weinreis at the WWV.

January 21st-27th

Weather news: after several weeks of bitter cold it has turned nice this week and is supposed to stay nice for the immediate future. Hard winds plus cold temps made last week’s snow very hard and almost impossible to blow at first

Events today (sat) are the Donnelly Rod and Gun club annual ice fishing tournament will be held on Pomme De Terre (Perkins) Lake from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and the memorial service for former Donnelly resident Deloris Weinreis is at 1:30 p.m. at the West Wind Village (Villa)

Tiger wrestling Minnewaska triangular Dalton Lupke went 2-0
Storm hockey: Kellen Erdahl scored his 1st goal and points as a varsity hockey player on January.14th
Tiger swimming vs. fusion Levin strand first place breaststroke, he was also part of the 200m medley that took third 200 free relay that took 4th  
Jacob Speer of Donnelly was named to the honor roll at Ridgewater College in Willmar, for fall semester 2016
Congratulations to Bertha Larson who celebrated her 95th birthday January 16th

Weather news: well temps have moderated a little since last week but warmer temps brought several inches of snow and some blowing and drifting on Tuesday

There are two upcoming Rising up Stevens County events: the first is a free pool party at the Regional Fitness Center pool in Morris today (Saturday) from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. co-sponsored by the Donnelly Rod and Gun club and the second is a Hot dish cook-off on January 24th at Faith Lutheran Morris starting with entries at 4:30 p.m. meal at 5:30 p.m. tickets available at the door more info about either event call the Rusc office at 585-7872

There will be a Celebration of Life service for Robert (Bobby) Koepke on Sunday, January 15, 2017, at Fort Christmas in Orlando, FL, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. his ashes will be scattered here in Minn. later this year

Rilynn Mackenzie Anderson was born on January 6, 2017 at Stevens Community Medical Center in Morris to Stacy and Jeremy Anderson of Donnelly.  Grandparents are Jerry and Tammy Thorstad of Morris, Rick Ehrp and Lois Tatge of Chokio, and Kevin and Sue Anderson of Nisswa
Past week visit to aunt Pearl A. Anderson at her apt at the sunrise Apartments. Bbb at the met lounge

Weather news: Well in contrast to the Christmas weekend, the New Year’s one was fairly mild and storm free.  However the start of the New Year has brought very cold temps and wind chills , several inches of snow, and some blowing and drifting

Death notices: former Donnelly area resident Robert (Bobby) Koepke of Orlando FL. passed away Dec 12th; survivors include his foster brother Mark Koepke of Morris. His parents were the former Stan and Elsie Koepke of the Herman/Donnelly area
Former Donnelly resident Deloris Weinreis of Morris passed away on December 30th survivors include her husband Jim of Morris. They used to own and operate the corner café in Donnelly; her memorial service is January 21st at 1:30 p.m. at the West Wing Village (Villa)
Former Donnelly area resident Marlene (Frank) Bruland of Starbuck passed away on January 3rd. Her parents were the late John and Ellen Frank of the Donnelly area. Survivors include her cousin Dorothy (Sam) Johrdhiem of Donnelly and their family. Her funeral is today (Sat.) at 10:30 a.m.at Trinity Lutheran -Cyrus

Nevaeh Rayn Jensen was born on December 23, 2016 at Stevens Community Medical Center in Morris to Christeena Jensen and John Higgins of Morris.  Grandparents are Scott Jensen of Detroit Lakes, Theresa Pagel of Morris, and Micheal and Cheryl Higgins of Donnelly.
Past week Opal harstad visitation and funeral, at the funeral home and Faith-Morris, helped with Naps at the sr. center, BBB at the met lounge
