July 1 st-7th

Welcome to another edition of the Donnelly news.
Weather news past week has been on the cool side with some light rains showers off and on. Crops continue to look very good; most corn should be “knee high by the 4th” farmers are busy spraying and putting up hay
St. John’s/ Kongsvinger news: The summer schedule will continue until early September, Sunday services are at 10 A.M.; Wednesday evening services are at 7 P.M. Upcoming service dates are:  July 2nd at Kongsvinger (regular services only) and July 9th at ST. John’s. A complete schedule can be found in the June newsletter, copies are available at both churches, or from the parish office.
There will be an Independence Day celebration on July 4th at Kongsvinger, starting at 11:30 a.m. with a flag raising ceremony, followed by a potluck dinner. Everyone welcome
The newest member of Kongsvinger is Phebe Joy Oelke (Joe and Jessica (Bergstrom)) who was baptized on June 10th
Brad Searle and Crystal Henrichs were married on June 17th at West Pomme De Terre Lodge
GSLC news: Wednesday evening services at 7 p.m., will continue until fall
Other church news: Dr. Stephen Swanson (the missionary we support who is serving in Tanzania) will be here (Faith Morris) on July 9th at 5:00p.m. .Faith will also have an outdoor worship service and pot luck brunch at Pomme de park on July 30th starting at 9 a.m.
On July 12th in the First Lutheran Church parking lot there will be “JAM with JESUS Kick-Off!”   ; starting with Food from 5:30-6:00p.m., with worship from 6:00-6:30p.m. 
There will be a concert featuring Sara Groves and Mallary Hope -on July 15th at 8 p.m. at eastside park sponsored by First, Faith, and Assumption
Community news:  the city council will meet at 4 p.m. today (Saturday) at city hall in Donnelly
On July 3rd, from 3:45-4 P.M, the bookmobile will be in town on Main Street, and at 7 P.M., the Rendsville 4-h and the firemen will meet at St. John’s and at the fire hall
Most Donnelly business will be closed on July 4th Hd & Co will also be closed on July 1st.
There will be a Rummage Sale to Benefit Ronald McDonald House at 248 South Columbia Ave, Morris on June 30 from 4 p.m.-8 p.m. and Saturday, July 1 from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. Also collecting pop tabs.

Death notice: Theodore Ronald, “Ted”, Estenson of Morris passed away on June 22, survivors include his brother Monroe (Cheryl Armstrong) Estenson of Morris, Cheryl is a former Donnelly area resident.

The threshing bee royalty were part of the old settlers’ reunion parade in Barret on June 24th
The Donnelly community club will meet on July 10th at 7 p.m. at the community hall; threshing bee posters are now out and will be put up in the area in the weeks ahead,buttons should be available in the next few wks an dthe website updated soon too

Donnelly news

June 24th-June 30th

Welcome to another edition of the Donnelly news. I want to especially welcome my new readers in the Hancock area.

Death notice Lucille "Lucy" Ann Krupke Heil of Hancock passed away on June 14th survivors include her granddaughter Ann (Brian) Erdahl and their family of Morris, Brian is a former Donnelly area resident
The Donnelly community club had their monthly meeting on June 12th as we continue planning for the bee. Our tri-feature next yr. will be Cockshutt, Oliver, and Moline. This year’s show is August 26th and 27th and the feature is Allis. Posters and buttons should be out in about a month. Also look for an ad about the bee, on the back of your Willie’s Super Valu register slips soon too.

June 17th-23rd

Welcome to another edition of the Donnelly news. I want to esp. welcome my new readers in the Hancock area.
Weather news Last week was very hot; this week has seen some severe weather in the area with several reports of tornadoes in the area on Tuesday evening.
St. John’s/ Kongsvinger news: The summer schedule will continue until early September, Sunday services are at 10 A.M.; Wednesday evening services are at 7 P.M. Upcoming service dates are: June  18th,  28th at Kongsvinger, June 25th at St John’s. Death notice Kaj Christensen, of, Mandan ND passed away on June 13th survivors include his nieces Karen (Richard) Johnson, Morris Mona (John) Dickey, of Donnelly
Postseason accolades continue to roll in for University of Minnesota, Morris senior Chandler Erickson. He was named to two All-Region squads on Tuesday, May 23, including a d3baseball.com First Team All-Midwest selection. He was also picked as an ABCA/Rawlings Third Team All-Midwest Region selection.
Dr. Pat Burke was recently given the Earnst Strube award from Pheasants forever at their annual banquet
The threshing bee royalty summer parade season continued, with the Chokio community picnic parade. on June 10th.

Former Donnelly area resident Howard Kruize has retired from the ministry.   He and his wife Meredith are moving to Green Bay Wis.

Welcome to part 2 of the graduation edition of the Donnelly news
Weather news: the past week has felt very summer like with highs in the upper ‘80’s. Most fields are planted and crops are up. Some low spots being planted ,and some haying is taking place
St. John’s Kongsvinger news: The summer schedule will continue until early September, Sunday services are at 10 A.M.; Wednesday evenings are at 7 P.M. Upcoming services are :June 11th ,at ST. John’s; June 14th.and 18th ,at Kongsvinger . A complete schedule can be found in the June newsletter, copies are available at both churches, or from the parish office.
Vacation bible school will be held on June 12-15th 3-6:30 pm at St. John’s. Walk in’s welcome ,contact the parish office for more details

The threshing bee royalty started their summer parade season with the Cyrus day’s parade in Cyrus, on June 3rd
Brooke Gillespie has been named an honorable mention to the West Central Tribune’s All-Area Team in softball.

June 3rd -9th

I also spent time Saturday decorating graves in the area and Mon went to Hancock to see the trails for transplant riders go through the area
