donnelly news


Welcome to another edition of the Donnelly news.
Weather news it is still hot and dry around here, however most of the crops and garden produce I saw the Clinton and Herman fairs sure looked good.
St. John’s/ Kongsvinger news: Upcoming summer service dates are: July 26th and 30th at Kongsvinger, August 6th at ST. John’s.
. Community news: on July 31st.the bookmobile will be in town on Main St. from 3:30-3:45 p.m.
On August 5th the city council will meet at 4 p.m. in the council chambers in the Donnelly hall
On August 7th the Rendsville 4-h meets at St. John’s at 7 p.m.

The seventh annual block party organized by St. John’s /Kongsvinger will be held on August 1st starting at 5 p.m., on the west side of ST. John’s. It will be held in conjunction with national night out. Brats, hot dogs, potato salad, beans chips ice cream are on the menu, freewill offering for the food shelf
Herman red hats will be meeting, Monday August.7th at 11 a.m. at the Furious Farmers Restaurant in Elbow Lake



Threshing Bee news: The posters are here; you can pick one up at McCollar Jewelry. The buttons are also here, and can be purchased at most Donnelly business or the Dakotah banks in Chokio and Morris  .For more information you can visit the website: http://www.donnellythreshingbee.com  and/or the new Facebook page.. The theme this year is “Yippee it’s time for the bee”. The bee is August. 26 and 27th the feature is all things made by Allis Chalmers. Next year’s tri-feature is all things made by Cockshutt, Moline and Oliver.
The Threshing Bee royalty were part of the Grant County fair parade in Herman on July 22nd.
The 2017-2018 royalty candidates will be introduced on August 7th at 7:30 p.m. at the hall. More info call Sandy Dunn at 246-3492

July 22nd-28th

Welcome to another edition of the Donnelly news.
Weather news it is still hot and dry around here but around here crops still look very good, especially the grain for the bee.
St. John’s/ Kongsvinger news: The summer schedule will continue until early September, Sunday services are at 10 A.M.; Wednesday evening services are at 7 P.M. Upcoming service dates are:   , July 23rd at St John’s, July 26th & 30th at Kongsvinger. The remaining summer schedule is found in the July newsletter copies are available at both churches or from the parish office
GSLC news: there will be no Wednesday evening services, on July 26th, however there will be Bible study on July 25th. This is a change from what announced in the summer newsletter. Rev Steve King from Sola publishing will be the guest speaker at services at 9 a.m. and will have an adult Ed session after coffee fellowship
Other church news: from Faith Morris: They will have an outdoor worship service and pot luck brunch at the church  on July 30th starting at 9 a.m. Summer day camp (VBS) by Luther Crest will be held on July 31st –August. 3rd at Faith co-sponsored by Faith and First of Morris and Trinity –Cyrus contact any church for more info.
Vbs from July 31 - August 3 from 6-8 p.m. at Hosanna worship center Morris
Grief Share will begin Monday, August 14 and will meet every Monday at Morris Evangelical Free Church form 4-6 p.m. for a total of 14 weeks.  For more info, contact Neil Leroux at 589-1788 or the MEFC church office at 589-2808.

Cael and his sister Chalee Eystad of Morris were seriously injured in an ATV accident in Becker County on July 3rd; thankfully they are now both recuperating at home. Their parents are Jesse and Misty Eystad of Morris, and grandparents are Jamie and Kathy Eystad of Donnelly. RUSC Kinship will have a mini carnival during Morris Crazy days on July 26th by their office at 215 Atlantic ave. from noon -2 p.m.

They will be put up in the area in the upcoming weeks. The buttons are also here, and can be purchased at most Donnelly business or the Dakotah banks in Chokio and Morris in the near future. The toy tractors for the raffle can be seen at the Donnelly co-op .For more information you can visit the website: http://www.donnellythreshingbee.com  and/or the new Facebook page. We are looking for somebody to take over the white elephant sale and the kiddie parade, if not they will not be held this year. The theme this year is “Yippee it’s time for the bee”. July 15th-21st

Welcome to another edition of the Donnelly news.
Weather news it is still hot and dry around here but around here crops still look good, not so much in DeSmet where I was over the weekend very dry down there and crops do not look so good.
St. John’s/ Kongsvinger news: The summer schedule will continue until early September, Sunday services are at 10 A.M.; Wednesday evening services are at 7 P.M. Kongsvinger Krusaders will participate in the Relay for Life July 21st from 5 -12 p.m. at Pomme de Park Morris

Other church news: from Faith Morris: They will have an outdoor worship service and pot luck brunch at Pomme de park on July 30th starting at 9 a.m. On July 15th the Faith youth will meet at Wells Park at 6:30p.m., for grilling and fun, then walk to East Side Park for the outdoor concert featuring Sara Groves and Mallary Hope at Eastside Park at 8 p.m. sponsored by First, Faith, and Assumption churches of Morris. Summer day camp by Luther crest (VBS) will be held on July 31st –Aug. 3rd at Faith co-sponsored by Faith and First of Morris and Trinity –Cyrus contact either church for more info.

Open house bridal shower for Sara Beyer, Bride-to-be of Phil Tostenson, from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, July 15, at the Morris Senior Center, Sara is the daughter of Ed and Carol Beyer of Morris. Carol is a former Donnelly area resident.

On July 17th the Donnelly fire dept. will meet at 7 p.m. at the fire hall, and the bookmobile will be in town on Main St. at 3:45 p.m.
Death notice: Delores Buhl of Graceville passed away on June 23rd survivors include her nephews Tony Lesmeister of Donnelly, Tom (Roxanne Stevenson) Lesmeister of Morris and their family, Roxanne is a former Donnelly resident
Congratulations to Kali Berlinger who was crowned Miss Morris on July 8th her parents are Angie and Bruce Berlinger of Morris, grandparents are Kevin and Rhonda Asmus and her great grandparents are Barb and Don Riley and Kermit and Karen Stahn. Great great grandparents were the late Marlys and Parnell Alm Runner up was Cheyenne Baumgart our '15-'16 Threshing Bee queen.

July 7 and 8th I took a mini vacation traveling to DeSmet S.D. to take in the Wilder pageant and do some sightseeing in the area

July 8th-14th

Welcome to another edition of the Donnelly news.
Weather news after several weeks of cool, rainy, weather it has turned hot and dry irrigation systems are going full blast in the area. Crops continue to look very good.
St. John’s/ Kongsvinger news: The summer schedule will continue until early September, Sunday services are at 10 A.M.; Wednesday evening services are at 7 P.M. Upcoming service dates are:   July 9th at ST. John’s, July 12th and 16th at Kongsvinger. A complete schedule can be found in the June newsletter, copies are available at both churches, or from the parish office.

Megan Helen Strand Preston will be ordained into the ministry on July 8th at 2 p.m. at First Lutheran church Alex. She is Ruth Strand’s granddaughter

Death notice: Theodore Ronald, “Ted”, Estenson of Morris passed away on June 22, survivors include his brother Monroe (Cheryl Armstrong) Estenson of Morris, Cheryl is a former Donnelly area resident.

On July 1st, in Starbuck, the Threshing Bee royalty were part of the Heritage day’s parade, the queens’ tea at the community center and Miss Minnewaska coronation
The Donnelly community club will meet on July 10th at 7 p.m. at the community hall; Threshing Bee posters are now out, and will be put up in the area in the weeks ahead, buttons should be here in a few weeks and the website has just been updated.

Haylee Flaten, daughter of Justin and Carrie Flaten was named Miss Congeniality at Little Miss Hancock pageant on July 3rd  Her grandparents are Chuck and Pat (Kopel) Dingman ,great grandmother is Luella Kopel of Donnelly
Our former pastor at Kongsvinger/St John’s  -Donnelly ,Rev Mark Luther Johnson and family of Ottumwa IA, spent the weekend visiting family and friends in the area and attending services at Good Shepherd Morris
