donnelly news

July 8th-14th

Welcome to another edition of the Donnelly news.
Weather news after several weeks of cool, rainy, weather it has turned hot and dry irrigation systems are going full blast in the area. Crops continue to look very good.
St. John’s/ Kongsvinger news: The summer schedule will continue until early September, Sunday services are at 10 A.M.; Wednesday evening services are at 7 P.M. Upcoming service dates are:   July 9th at ST. John’s, July 12th and 16th at Kongsvinger. A complete schedule can be found in the June newsletter, copies are available at both churches, or from the parish office.
Kongsvinger Krusaders will participate in the relay for life July 21st from 5 -12 p.m.
7th annual block party August 1st starting at 5 p.m., on the west side of ST. John’s

GSLC news: there will be no Wednesday evening services, on July 19th & 26th
Other church news: from Faith Morris: Dr. Stephen Swanson (the missionary we support who is serving in Tanzania) will be here on July 9th at 5:00 p.m. Faith will also have an outdoor worship service and pot luck brunch at Pomme de park on July 30th starting at 9 a.m. on July 15th faith youth will meet at Wells Park at 6:30p.m. for grilling and fun, then walk to East Side Park for the outdoor concert featuring Sara Groves and Mallary Hope at Eastside Park at 8 p.m. sponsored by First, Faith, and Assumption.
On July 12th in the First Lutheran Church parking lot there will be “JAM with JESUS Kick-Off!”   ; starting with Food from 5:30-6:00p.m., with worship from 6:00-6:30p.m. 
Megan Helen Strand Preston will be ordained into the ministry on July 8th at 2 p.m. at First Lutheran church Alex. She is Ruth Strand’s granddaughter
.


Death notice: Theodore Ronald, “Ted”, Estenson of Morris passed away on June 22, survivors include his brother Monroe (Cheryl Armstrong) Estenson of Morris, Cheryl is a former Donnelly area resident.
Community news:  Nominations for little Miss Donnelly and Threshing Bee queen will be accepted until July 15th, more info contact Sandy Dunn 246-3492
The Donnelly youth club will meet on July 19th at 4 pm at ST John’s
 Cael & Chalee Eystad were seriously injured in at ATV accident in Becker co on July 3rd, their parents are Jesse & Missy Eystad of Morris, grandparents are Jamie & Kathy Eystad of Donnelly


On July 1st, in Starbuck, the Threshing Bee royalty were part of the Heritage day’s parade, the queens’ tea at the community center and Miss Minnewaska coronation
The Donnelly community club will meet on July 10th at 7 p.m. at the community hall; Threshing Bee posters are now out, and will be put up in the area in the weeks ahead, buttons should be here in a few weeks and the website has just been updated.
Celebrations Higher Ed grads: James Burke, (Pat and Carol Burke) ST. John’s Collegeville, Cambria Aanerud, (Andy and Heather Aanerud) Minnesota State community, technical campuses-Fergus Falls

Haylee Flaten, daughter of Justin and Carrie Flaten was named Miss Congeniality at Little Miss Hancock pageant on July 3rd  Her grandparents are Chuck and Pat (Kopel) Dingman ,great grandmother is Luella Kopel of Donnelly
Our former pastor at Kongsvinger/St John’s  -Donnelly ,Rev Mark Luther Johnson and family of Ottumwa IA, spent the weekend visiting family and friends in the area and attending services at Good Shepherd Morris

Past week, visit to my aunt pearl in her apt in Morris, dist. 45 dairy open house Hancock, fellowship cmte planning party at st j, Stevenson visitation at funeral home and funeral at 1st Lutheran, heritage day’s events in starbuck, July 4th celebration in Evansville on July 2nd Hancock concrete centennial celebration, independence day celebration at Kong, 4th of July activities in Hancock, helped out with NAPS at sr. center w/Eystad’s and services at Gs w/Eystad’s
