July 2nd-8th

Welcome to another edition of the Donnelly news
Weather news: it has been hot and dry the past week irrigators are going full force. So far crops look good
Due to the 4th of July holiday there will be no mail delivery on Monday and most business in the Donnelly area will be closed
St John’s/Kongsvinger news:  the annual Independence Day celebration will be held at Kongsvinger on July 4th starting with a flag rising, at 11 am followed by a pot luck dinner and fellowship. Ice cream, bread, and beverages furnished everyone is welcome free will offering
ST. JOHN’S WELCA will meet on Tuesday, July 12, at 1:30 p.m. at St. John’s. Please note the change of date!
July 17th services time will switch with services at St. John’s Sundays at 9 am and wow at Kongsvinger at 7 pm
There will be 140th aniv celebration for Kong in Sept.
Good Shepherd news: as part of their fundraiser for the stork bus Alexandra’s miracle mission has a collection box at Gs (and other churches in the area) for Willie’s paper bags
There will be a gospel sing along in Hancock at the Alexis center on July 3rd at 7 pm sponsored by the Christian reformed church
Rob Lucus, the manager of the Morris Pizza Ranch, has graciously given “Friends of Alex permission to have an lemonade and goodies stand every Wednesday from 11am-1 pm in front of Pizza Ranch all summer long. So come out and have a drink and goody and all of the money with help Alexandra's Miracle Mission


Community news:  due to the 4th of July the Donnelly city council and Rendsville 4-h will meet on July 5th at city hall and St. John’s at 7pm
The community club will meet on July 11 at 7 pm at the city hall as we continue to make plans for the bee and other events
Starting on July  1stand running through the 15th applications will be taken for little Miss Donnelly (8-10) and Threshing Bee queen (14-18) applications can be dropped off at boxes in HD & Co Donnelly Co-op or post office or email to werkcrew@runestone.net or lsdunn@runestone.net
RUSC Kinship is looking for volunteers to help with pizza sales at our booth for Prairie Pioneer Days.  If you would be willing to help, please contact the office at 589-7872.  Thank you!

June 25th-July 1st

Welcome to another edition of the Donnelly news
Weather news: it was hot weekend en route home from ktown I ran into some heavy showers by Cyrus
St John’s/Kongsvinger news:  The fellowship committee met after services at St. John’s on June 15th as we started making plans for the garden (block) party to be held on July 30th at St John’s. Hopefully there will be some produce from the new parish community garden that was planted next to St. John’s this year ready to be served.
Good Shepherd news: Angel Scott will be ordained today (sat) at 2 p.m. at Good Shephard Lutheran Church-Morris she has been working as intern since last Aug part-time at Gs and St. John’s -starbuck
Other church news: the MN all-state Lutheran choir will be touring the state in June full itinerary here http://www.maslc.org/itinerary.html

Celebrations: Greg Swartz memorial wrestling camp most valuable wrestlers included Brady Cardwell
Among the winners at the recent Hancock h.s. awards was Brent Nienhaus Phy-ed (9th grade)
MAES Phyed award winners include Charli Erdahl Addison Cihak, Travis Fults, and Austin Raths
Joan and Jerry Kopacek attended the VFW Convention in Rochester June 9-12th.

The Threshing Bee royalty and Donnelly fire department were part of the community picnic parade in Chokio on June 11th
The royalty were also part of the Runestone Days parade in Kensington on June 19th

June 18th-24th
Welcome to another edition of the Donnelly news
Weather news: after a very hot weekend temps have moderated some, and we got some nice rain showers to freshen things up this week.
St John’s/Kongsvinger news:  The fellowship committee met after services on St. John’s on June 15th as we started making plans for the garden (block) party to be held on July 30th at St John’s. Good shepherd news: VBS will be held in conjunction with Zion Lutheran again this year at Zion –Morris on June 20-23rd led by staff from Lutheran Island Bible Camp from 1-4 p.m. ea. day more info call GS 585-6868 or Zion Lutheran at 589-2744
Angel Scott will be ordained on June 25th at 2 p.m. at Good Sheppard Lutheran Church-Morris she has been working as intern since last Aug part-time at Gs and St. John’s -starbuck

Donnelly Rod and Gun club’s annual fishing tournament will be held on Pome De Tere Lake (public access) June 19th starting with registration at 9 a.m.
Rockin C horse ranch is open this weekend and every third weekend though Oct. the ranch is located straight west of Donnelly on 150th St.

Celebrations The following students named to the “honor roll” at various colleges: Kristi Kopel and MaKenzie Smith of Donnelly, (MSU Moorhead) Lacey Eystad of Donnelly (Dakota State University (DSU) in Madison, South Dakota). Chandler Erickson of Chokio and Chiara Race of Donnelly (Umm)
Among those named to the west central conference all -conference team are: Brooke Gillespie and Becca Holland in softball and Brady Jergenson in baseball, Brady was also named to the West Central Tribune all area team honorable mention
Maes student of the month (May) included Brenna Jergenson (first grade)
Chandler Erickson (UMM) recently earned UMAC academic honors
Morris area elementary school awards program: Jackson Loge 1st place geography bee; science fair -top ten finishers included Daniel Baily- Kloos (4th grade) Hannah Cegla (5th grade) Jackson Loge (6th grade)
Jacob Fisher recently graduated from the Air Force academy his parents are Steve and Kathleen Fisher; grandmother is Marilyn Smith
Thanks to Marilyn Smith for this: We just got back from Wichita, KS.  Jacob married his high school sweetheart, Rachel.  Chris, Janelle and family - Cathy and Lorin Miller and family from Kindred, ND, myself, and my brother, Robert Kalmoe and his wife Belinda from Weatherford, TX were there.  A good time was had by all.
Ryan Kruize, son of Jim and Michelle Kruize, is a recent graduate of Hermitage High School in Henrico, Virginia.  Ryan's paternal grandparents are Reuben and Bernadine Kruize, former Donnelly residents

The Donnelly community club had their monthly meeting following the ice cream social on June 13th as we continue to make plans for the bee on Aug.27th and 28th reminder the feature this year is John Deere 
A good crowd was on hand for the annual ice cream social on June 13th thanks to the threshing bee royalty for serving the ice cream and the Rendsville 4-h for the delicious pies they made and sold.

June 11th-17th
Welcome to another edition of the Donnelly news
Weather news although there have been a few cool evenings so far the daytime has been mostly sunny & nice, crops continue to look very nice supposed to get very hot later this week
St John’s/Kongsvinger news:  The summer worship schedule with services at Kongsvinger on Sunday at 9 a.m. and Wednesday at 7p.m. at St. John’s is now in effect. This schedule will continue until further notice
Community VBS will be held on June 13th-17th from 3:30-7:30 p.m. ea. day open to all kids in the community more info call the parish office 246-3211
Kongsvinger Krusaders will be doing the Pizza Ranch Tip Night Fund Raiser on Monday June 13th. We encourage folks to stop by for dinner or take-out (5 P.M. to 8 P.M.) to support the team. A percentage of the evening’s earnings and all tips will go towards our relay for life team

Community news: when driving though Donnelly be sure to check out upcoming events on the community bulletin board on north end of the park in Donnelly.
The Bookmobile will be in town on Main Street in Donnelly on June 20th from 3:45-4 p.m.
Donnelly Fire Dept. will meet at 7 p.m. and Community Club will meet about 9 p.m. on June 13th at the fire hall and community hall. There will be a bike rodeo at 6:30 pm prior to the fireman’s mtg at city hall
There are no little league games in Donnelly this year, but do know there are horseshoe games, on Tuesday evenings, unsure about lady sb games.

An open house bridal shower honoring Angela Halbe (daughter of Steve and Jeanne Halbe of Morris), bride to be of Jeff Boer, will be held on Saturday, June 11 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Morris Senior Center in Morris. Please bring your favorite recipe to share. Jeanne is a former Donnelly area resident

Death notices Lynn R. Thompson, of Brandon passed away on June 5th survivors include his wife former Donnelly resident Renee (Bouressa).
Spotty Jim Leegaard passed away June 4th in fl. His grandmother Thelma and family were longtime members of Kongsvinger

Celebrations: The following area students were among the North Dakota State University students to be placed on the spring 2016 dean's list: Rebekah Aanerud, Kourtney Giese, and Elizabeth Holland
Minnesota State Community and Technical College has named students to its President's List for the 2016 spring semester. Cammi Aanerud was one of them
Xochil Mendez and Mac Beyer, both of Morris, are excited to announce their engagement. Xochil is the daughter of Antonio and Maribel Mendez. Mac is the son of Joel and Jamie Beyer. And grandson of carol an d the late Sid Wilcox
Brooke Gillespie named to west central tribune all area team becca Holland was named honorable mention

Hannah Flogstad and Courtney Lehman were members of the tiger’s 7th grade sb team, Kendra Wevley; & Kellie Wilts were members of 8th grade team that both had an undefeated season
Tiger girls track team finished 4th in Sec.  6A Savanah Aanerud 9th 3200m; Islande Sperr was a member of 4 x100 m relay team that finished 8th
The boys finished 15th

For the 2nd week I have a fire to report on in Donnelly the Tony Lesimeister house on 1st st caught fire on June 5th thankfully again there were no injuries
Bryce Jergenson and Scott Henrichs were part of the Morris Eagles team that won the Mike Johnson memorial tournament in Morris over the weekend

June 4th- 10th
Welcome to another edition of the Donnelly news
Weather news some timely rains over the weekend were just what “the Dr. ordered”, so far crops continue to look very good
St John’s/Kongsvinger news:  The summer worship schedule with services at Kongsvinger on Sunday at 9 a.m. and Wednesday at 7p.m. at St. John’s is now in effect. This schedule will continue until further notice
Community VBS will be held on June 13th-17th from 3:30-7:30 p.m. ea. day open to all kids in the community more info call the parish office 246-3211

ALL COMMITTEE MEETING NIGHT – is scheduled for June 8, at 8:00 p.m. following mid-week worship services at St. John’s. All Committees should plan to meet that evening. This event will be held in place of the June Council meetings.

Death Notice Duane Touhey of Herman passed away May 29th; his survivors include his son Bob (Deb) (Banister) Touhey of Chaska. Deb is former Donnelly area resident

Tiger girls  track team placed 2nd in section 6a track meet, Savanah Aanerud finished sixth in the 1600 m run,4 3200 m run was a member of the 4x800 relay team that finished 3rd ,Islande Sperr finished 6th in 100 m run,18th 200m run  was part of the 4x100 relay team that finished 2nd

The boys finished  4th ,200 m Levin Strand (12th )Dalton Lupke( 19th )Levin was a member of the 4x100 m relay team that finished 5th and 4x200 that finished 4th
Timothy Duane Meyer was born on May 19, at Stevens Community Medical Center to Mike and BethAnn Meyer of Cyrus. Grandparents are Duane and Wendy Jergenson from Glenwood and Michael and Nita Meyer from Blaine. Great-grandparents are David and Julette Jergenson from Cyrus formerly of Donnelly
Sympathy to Robert Eystad whose semi-cab burned up in a fire on May 30th at his HQ in Donnelly (old co-op feed store /HQ) thankfully no injuries and the trailer contents were not damaged
