Welcome to another edition of the of the Donnelly news
Weather news: The weather has been sunny and mild for much of the past week most farmers are done for the year but there are a few out doing some ditching and tilling and other odd jobs
SAINT John’s/Kongsvinger News there will be a Christmas carol sing- a -long at Saint John’s on Dec 2 at 2:30 pm followed by a time of fellowship. Bring a friend and come and join us for an afternoon of music and fellowship as we kick off this Advent Season.  All are welcome!

The parish will once again have hat /mitten tree for the Salvation Army toys for tots program contact the parish office (246-3211) for info on needed/wanted items

The drawing for the “where’s the beef supper” raffle will be held during coffee hour at Saint John’s on Dec 2nd. Tickets can be purchased from any Saint John’s member or are available at the parish office
Good Shepherd news: The mission of the month is the New International Health services; coffee money goes to the local Salvation Army unit
Allan Saugstad will give a presentation about his mission trip to Central America during Adult Ed on November 25th
There will be advent services on December 5th, 12th and 19th more info in future columns
Christmas Sing a long at Eden Reformed church in Herman on November 25th at 6 pm coffee and refreshments to follow
There will be a world mission mart festival at Federated church on 12/1 from 9 am -3 pm and after services on 12/2
There will be a baby shower for Stella Elizabeth Amthauer daughter of Brad and Robyn (Werk) Amthauer today (Saturday) at the Rollie and Jan Greiner farm 13842 state highway 9 Donnelly
Theresa Anderson of Idaho passed away recently survivors include her sister in law Opal Harstad and her family
A gathering time of sharing and reflection for Marion Beck will be held from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. today (Saturday) at the federated church in Morris. This will be followed by an internment at the Summit cemetery in Morris, after which everyone is invited to return to the church to share a meal and to celebrate Marion's life
From Elroy Frank: Loiann and I want to thank everyone for their support during the Benefit for Loiann on November 10th at Shalom, it’s times like these that friends, family and the Community pull together once again.
Chandler Erickson (12) and Brooke Geliespe (10) made the A honor roll at Chokio Alberta High school
I was among those who attended the Holiday open house at Super Valu on the 15th.
Among the participants in the Parade of Lights in Morris on Nov 16th was the Threshing Bee Royalty. Prior to the parade Wally McCollar and I were among those who enjoyed the music of the UMM concert choir at the city center Mall. After the parade I stopped into Tammy Sperr’s open house at Edward Jones.
Jim and Lou Eystad and I were among those who played bingo on the 16th at the Donnelly Hall. It was announced that starting in January there would be regular bingo games at “the place to be” in Donnelly. Cheryl Beebe won the grand prize. Earlier in the eve I attended the visitation for Nikki Winttern at the funeral home.
Jim and Lou Eystad and I were among those who attended the funeral for Nikki Winttern at Kongsvinger on Nov 17th. In the aft I attended the birthday party for Ruth Bengston at the senior center, later I visited Gary Weirs and others at the west wind village. In the eve Eystad’s attended the benefit for Tatum Libbesmeier at the Herman school
Several friends and family members gathered at the west wing village on November 17th to help Bertha Anderson celebrate her birthday
Jim and Lou Eystad and I attended the annual meeting at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church on Nov 18th afterwards I attended the fall festival at Kongsvinger
Several former Donnelly area residents and I were among those who enjoyed the community meal at Faith Lutheran on November 19th
Agralite is looking for the following from the Donnelly area for unclaimed capital credits: Anthony Palmer; Donavan Peters; Raymond Sieben; Ed Thole. The bookmobile will be in town on November 28th
The Donnelly city council and rendsville 4-h will meet on December 3rd at the city hall and fire hall
There will be an open house and bake sale the museum in Morris on December 1st from 9 am –noon
The annual open house and bazaar at the Morris senior center will be held on December 1st beginning at 9 am
 A quick reminder that I have “news” boxes at the post office, and HD & co, in Donnelly and at McCollar Jewelry in Morris for you to leave news for me, the deadlines are Monday noon for the Donnelly boxes, Tuesday evening for the Morris one.

Weather news: The weather has been cool damp with rain/snow off and on during the last week
ST Johns/Kongsvinger News The Kongsvinger fall festival will be held on November 18th beginning at 11 am, service times will switch on that Sun with services at Kongsvinger at 8:30 am and Saint John’s at 11 am
Thanksgiving eve services will be held at Saint John’s on November 21st at 7 pm followed by lunch and fellowship

Good Shepherd news: The mission of the month is the New International Health services; coffee money goes to the local Salvation Army unit
There will be a special meeting of the congregation on November 18th following services (about 10 am) to vote on an addition to the building; that will be followed by the annual meeting, followed by a pot luck dinner.
Thanks to the highway department for putting up a new direction sign for the church on highway 9
Thanksgiving eve services will be at held on November 21st at 7 pm followed by lunch and fellowship
No women’s Bible study or confirmation November 21st regular schedule will resume on November 28th
Alan Saugstad will give a presentation about his mission trip to Honduras during Adult Ed on November 25th
Mission fest at Trinity Cyrus on November 18th from 11 am- 2 pm

Blake and Gabrielle Strittmatter were born recently to Steve and Krystal (Engbly) Strittmatter. Grandparents are Steve and the late Cathy Engbly. There will be baby shower for them today (Saturday) at Grandpa Steve’s farm 12615 160th st Hoffman from 10 am-noon,
Stella Elizabeth Amthauer was born recently to Brad and Robyn (Werk) Amthauer. Grandparents are Bob and Phyllis Werk. There will be a baby shower for her November 24th at the Rollie and Jan Greiner farm 13842 state highway 9 Donnelly MN
Faith Linda Erdahl was born on October 22, 2012 at Lakewood Health System in Staples, to Joshua and Kayla Erdahl of Alexandria.  Grandparents are Jeff Harstad of Donnelly and the late Linda Harstad, Steve and Sue Erdahl-Nelson of Donnelly and the late Bruce Erdahl. Great-grandparents are Edward and Sandy Backman, Shirley and Paul Lohmyer, Eugene Harstad, Bernice Erdahl and Dorothy Kiser.

Nicole Wittern passed away on November 12 survivors include her husband Jeremyah and daughter Jada Leigh; sisters: Jessica, Andrea, and Samantha; her mother: Becky Bergstrom; her grandmother: Irene Strand and their families. Her funeral is today (Saturday) at Kongsvinger.
Dorothy Bour of St Paul passed away on November 5th. Survivors include her sister in law Pearl A. Anderson, She and her son Jody traveled to St Paul for the memorial service on November 8th.
Marion Beck of Morris passed away on November 10th survivors include her daughter in law, former Donnelly resident, Joyce (Ersted) (Ken) Beck her funeral is November 24th at Federated
Dwane Stoneburg of Herman passed away recently survivors include his uncle Verle (Della) Dunn, his funeral is Nov. 19th at Bethel in Herman
Samantha Larson was recently elected as reporter for the Herman Norcross Future Farmers of America chapter
Members of the Stevens County Genealogical Society Board met at the Hoffman Nursing Home on November 8th. Marvel Wagner was recently re-elected to the Board.
A good crowd was on hand at Valu Fords’ customer appreciation event at the National Guard Amory on November 1st ,I had an opportunity to visit with my former neighbor Gary Huebner there, he said was his grandson’s first birthday
A good crowd was on hand at the Shalom Lutheran church in Alexandria on November 10th for the Elroy and Loiann Frank benefit and at the Legion for the Hafker family one. Enroute to Alexandria I stopped the Starbuck home and visited with Denny Anderson’s daughter Jill (he was sleeping) and at the Hanson home in Glenwood to visit with Pr. Martha.
A good crowd was on hand at the Salem convent church near Pennock on November 10th for the concert by the Ophoveron family band. Molli says they have tentative plans to be at the Morris Evangelical Free Church on Christmas Eve
November 13th I visited my aunt Pearl A. Anderson in her apartment at the sunrise apartments, Opal Harstad in hers at the Green River apartments, and Gary Weirs at the hospital
November 14th I attended the final ILT course as GS plans are to have another one this spring. 
Jim and Lou Eystad attended the Veterans Day program at the Morris area schools on November 12th Jim was one of those honored
The bookmobile will be in town on November 28th
The po and most Donnelly business will be closed on November 22nd

Thanksgiving eve services will be at held on Nov 21st a 7 pm followed by lunch Meatball supper at Faith Lutheran Morris on November 14th beginning at 4:30 pm .  There are two benefit meals today (Saturday), the first one is at the legion in Morris from 4-8 pm for the Bill Hackfer family ,on the menu is chili and fixings (free will offering) ,there will also be a silent auction and bake sale. He recently passed away from cancer and his family had no insurance. The second one is for Elroy and Loiann Frank at Shalom Lutheran Church, 800 Co. road 44 North West, Alexandria from 4:30-7 pm; on the menu is Lasagna, salad, bread, desert (free will donation) there will also be a silent auction. She became ill in early Aug. and is still recovering from it. Elroy is a former Donnelly resident there are posters around Morris and Donnelly with more info about both.    The bookmobile will be in town on November 14th The Donnelly fire departments’ annual turkey bingo will be held at the town hall on November 16th at 7 pm The po and most Donnelly business will be closed on November 22nd  Glen T. Mathison of Annandale passed away on Nov 3rd survivors include his niece Deb (Mark) Erickson of Donnelly and their family The Stevens county genealogical society met on November 1st at the library this will be the last regular meeting until March.  Tentative plans were made to have some work days during the winter months in the societies’ room  On the 2nd I attended the “pages of music” program at the West Wing Village afterwards I visited some of the residents there one of them being Mary Drips. She fell and broke her hip. Several of us from the Donnelly area traveled to Elbow Lake on November 3rd for the funeral of Esther Cline at United Lutheran MaKenzie Smith of the Tigers finished her high school cross country career by placing 31st out of 175 runners at the state meet at Saint Olaf Northfield Gillespie /off counter shank team finished first in the Graceville gun club season curt and Brady Gillespie were members of that team  Donnelly election results Walt Biesterfeld   was reelected mayor; council results Audray McNally 72; Gordy lea 71; Alan Recker 69 I was among those who attended the republican election party at the prairie Inn on Nov 6th Jim and Lou Eystad and I attended the ilt course at gs on Nov 7th in the eve a good crowd was on hand for the Scandivan heritage supper at first Lutheran A reminder that you can get the full version of my news a

Verlys Nissen of Morris, formerly of Donnelly passed away on Oct 27th
Former Donnelly resident Esther Cline passed away on Oct 30th her funeral is today (Sat) at United Lutheran in Elbow Lake

Arnold Leroy Volker of Sisseton SD passed away on Oct 22nd. Survivors include many cousins, nieces and nephews in the Donnelly area
ll be an open house baby shower for Chevelle and Whittemore at the Morris sr center today (Saturday) from 2-4 pm  parents are Crystal Henrichs and Nathan Whittemore of Donnelly.  
The red hatters will meet on Nov 4th at 9 am at the Herman bar and grill note new location/time

Chandler Erickson, Tom Holland Bryce Jergenson and Tyler Heinrichs are members of the Morris/C-A fb team that finished the regular season undefeated and also became wcc co-champs
The Morris/C-A girls’ vb team finished the regular schedule in a tie for 2nd place in the wcc; Beth Holland is a member of that team.
The C-A Jr. High vb team recently won the Morris tournament Brooke Gillespie is a member of that team
Savannah Aanerud was recently named performer of the week by the wcc in cross county
McKenzie Smith finished 2nd in the region 6 A  4000 meter girls cc meet on Oct 25th. She will be running in the state tournament today (Saturday)
Joan and Jerry Kopacek with Helen Kill were participants in the Welcome ceremony for National VFW Auxiliary President Leanne Lemley who visited the Osakis VFW post. On the way home they stopped at the Starbuck nursing home to visit with some of the residents including Denny Anderson
Oct 25th the Kopacek family and I attended the warehouse sale at Unger’s warehouse in the eve I attended the fundraising supper at the sky view plaza afterwards I visited with Dorothy Sperr  in her apt

Steve Fults and I were among those who helped the Westrom and Dutcher campaigns with a lit drop in Morris and surrounding communities and later attended the funeral for Pauline Smith at First Lutheran on Oct 27th .I also attended her visitation on the 26th at the funeral home.

Oct 28th a good crowd was on hand at Kongsvinger for confirmation services and the Thrivent reception afterwards
A good crowd was on hand at the Maes music hall for the band concert on Oct 29th
Oct 30th Jim Eystad and I were among those of us who helped plant more trees at Good shepherd that Dick Goldenstein donated to the church. In the eve I travelled to Starbuck to visit my friend Denny Anderson in the nursing home there.
A good crowd was on hand at the Donnelly hall on the 31st for the community club annual Halloween party.  I am glad I was not a judge as there were a lot of great costumes there. In the eve I attended the ilt course at Good Shepherd

The city council will meet at city hall on Nov 5th at 7 pm
