Welcome to another edition of the Donnelly news.
Weather News: well, according to the groundhog, we have six more weeks of winter ahead of us, as he saw his shadow on Sunday. We had a lovely weekend, but it has turned chilly this week
Donnelly church news: There will be joint services at 9:30 a.m. on the first 1st,3rd, and 5th Sundays at Kongsvinger, the 2nd, and 4th Sundays of the month at ST. John's followed by Sunday school and coffee fellowship.
Communion services are on the 1st and 4th Sundays of the month
Ash Wednesday services are on February 26th at 7 p.m. at ST. John’s
No KLCW in February
Broadcasts are still available for sponsorship in 2020 contact the parish office for details.
Sandy Dunn has updated the Kongsvinger history book, contact her or the parish office for a copy. The church is also looking for volunteers to sit on the furnace replacement and cemetery directory committees
Rev. Mike Nelson, who has been the parish pastor for 4+ years has announced he is retiring and will be leaving Donnelly in May.
Good Shepherd Lutheran church news: Lynn Watzke is the new church secretary, she started work on February 1st
Ash Wed services on January 26th at 7 p.m. at the church
BBB will continue at 7 p.m. at the Fireside restaurant in Morris on Wednesday evenings until Ash Wednesday.
The Bookmobile will be in town on Main St. on February 24th from 2:45–3 p.m. note new time
Donnelly community club meeting March 9th, 7 p.m. at the community hall
The Stevens county genealogical society will meet on March 5th at 1:30 p.m. at the Morris library
Bar Bingo at the place to be in Donnelly on February 21st
DFD meets on February 10th and 17th at 7 p.m. at the fire hall
On February 18th at Faith-Morris, RUSC Kinship will have their annual warm hearts and hot dishes event. This year there will be a competition between the gslc and Kongsvinger ladies for the best church hot dish. Precinct caucuses will be held on February 25th at 7 p.m. (registration 6:30 p.m.) Republicans will meet at the Old # 1, Morris for other counties /parties contact your county auditor
There is a Card shower for Rolland Greiner of Donnelly (80) (2/5) cards can be sent to box 165, Donnelly mn 56235
Past week boys, girl’s bb doubleheader at wca, meet and greet for Dave Hughes at the Barrett inn, a visit to Helen Peterson at the Barrett home, annual meeting at Kongsvinger, and supper at the Wally McCollar home near Hancock.
January 30th I visited Jim and Lou Eystad at Legacy living, he is doing better; he can now walk with a cane
January 29th Harold Rippe of Glenwood and I had supper together at the Pizza Ranch in Glenwood
February 3rd, I visited former Donnelly area resident Ruth Strand at the Edgewood villa in Alex. She will be 104 next month.
