Welcome to another edition of the Donnelly news
Weather news: after a cold start to the weekend on Friday;
Saturday and Sunday were very nice, as I am writing this on Tuesday evening it
has rained most of the day. Most of the
corn is picked, many fields have also been worked, a farmer friend told me his
corn yielded about 180 bushels an acre this yr.
St. John’s Kongsvinger news: October 30th is confirmation
Sunday at Kongsvinger at 11 a.m. followed by a confirmation reception by the
Kongsvinger Thrivent group. We have two Confirmands this year
Women’s book club will meet on November 1st at 1:30 p.m. at
Jeanne Ennen’s home note change of date and meeting place
A DVD of
Kongsvinger’s 140th anniversary is available to check out from the parish
office, also other merchandise from the event i.e. coffee mugs can be purchased
from the office
Honey sales have begun again by confirmation students; they
will be selling them before and after services at Kongsvinger on Sundays
through November and at the Kongsvinger fall festival on November 20th
Workdays for the Kongsvinger Fall festival on November 20th
are: November 2nd Norwegian sweets day @ 4 p.m., November 12 lefse making day @
9 a.m. November 16th lefse making day 2 at 4 p.m...
Third graders receiving bible this year were Addison Cihak,
Scarlett Bergstrom McGee, Bryce Lehman, Lydia Pollard, and Hunter Smith
GSLC news “A man called Luther” will be a five part Adult Ed
course starting on October 30th; it will also be new member sun.
THE GS ANNUAL MEETING WILL BE HELD ON Nov 20th following
services, a pot luck dinner will follow
The movie “Where Luther Walked” will be shown on October
30th at 10:40 a.m. at First Lutheran-Morris
Scandinavian heritage dinner at First Lutheran –Morris Nov
2nd starting at 3 p.m. tickets available at the door
MEATBALL SUPPER AT FAITH –Morris ON Nov 9th starting at 4
p.m. tickets available at the door
There will be no more burgers bereaves, and blessing until
next year at the diamond supper club due to church dinners, thanksgiving
,advent ,Christmas etc.
Please get the word out about the first of our Reformation
Celebration Events that will take place on Reformation Sunday, October 30th.
The Reformation Celebration Kick-Off Event will be from 3-5 p.m. at LWLC
-Alexandria MN from 3-4 p.m. there will be fellowship time, with Coffee and Cookies
being served. At 4 p.m. there will be a skit entitled “Martin and Katie”,
featuring Johan and Sonja Hinderlie, formerly of Mount Carmel Ministries of
Alexandria. Please make sure you invite people to join you for this event… as
we join Martin Luther in declaring, “Here we stand; we cannot do otherwise. God
help us. Amen
Trick or trunk will be held at Federated Church Morris on
October 31st from 5-7 p.m.
On November 7th the bookmobile will be in town on Main St.
from 3:45- 4 p.m.,
November 8th is Election Day residents of the city of
Donnelly will vote in the town hall most of the township residents in in the
Donnelly area will vote by mail. Contact the Stevens county auditor’s office
for more details
Rockin C horse will be open every Sunday next year (May
–October.) from 11-5
Donnelly area youth group will meet on November 16th 4-6
p.m. at St. John’s
"Gary" E. Ritzschke of Herman passed away on
October 19th survivors include his daughter Jodi (Jason) Strand of Herman and
their family, Jason is a former Donnelly area resident
Douglas L. Clark of Morris passed away on October 22nd
survivors include his daughter former Donnelly resident Amie Uphoff
Former Donnelly area resident Colleen Miller of Morris
passed away on October 24th survivors include her sister Jeanne (Dan) Koehntop
of Donnelly and their family
Congrats to the tigers girls cross country team (west
central conference champs) girls volleyball team (west central conference
