Weather news: most
of the last week has been sunny and humid; air conditions and fans have had a
good work out esp. over the weekend. Thankfully we escaped the severe weather
that hit other parts of the state i.e. Brainerd. Crops esp. the corn continues
to look fantastic although we can use more rain. As I drove to Barrett Wed. evening
I saw several irrigation systems going when I got to the Hy. 27/59 intersection
I hit a major down pour when I got home I saw we had had some rain here.
St John’s/Kongsvinger news: the summer worship schedule
continues until further notice
The original 1980 Kong Kookbook has been reprinted, to
purchase one contact the parish office at 246-3211
Good shepherd news: there will be no bible study on July 21st
as Pr Mike will be gone on continuing education
Other church news: VBS-Bethel Lutheran Morris July 20-24th
9 a.m. -11:30 a.m. more info 392-5524 and at the First Baptist church -Morris
on July 27-30th from 6:15 p.m. to 8:15 p.m.
Community news: On July 20th the bookmobile will
be in town at 3:30 p.m. on main st and the firemen will meet all at 7 p.m. at
the fire hall in Donnelly
"Meet the Candidates" (threshing Bee royalty) is
Monday July 27th at 7:30 p.m. followed by a special community club
mtg .Donnelly Threshing Bee will be celebrating its 50th Anniversary this year
so the Royalty Committee will be hosting a Past Royalty Reunion to be held on
that Saturday (29th) of the Bee. It is going to be a fun, busy “Bee"
weekend.
There will be an open house baby shower for Brianna
Neuman-Summer today (Saturday) from 10 a.m. to noon at the Morris Senior
Center. Everyone is welcome
The LTD annual motor cycle run will be held today (Saturday)
starting in Appleton at 10 a.m. traveling through the area with a stop in
Morris about 12:45 p.m., I understand this will their last ride.
Rocking c horse ranch (Van Horn’s) will have its grand
opening on Aug 1st from 1-7 p.m. at the farm (59312 150th St Donnelly) with a
variety of activities. Tickets available at the gate
“Ms. Dawn Nellie” Pageant will be held on Friday evening,
July 24, at the Donnelly Hall at 7:30 p.m. Come and watch local talent vie for
the coveted title of “Ms. Dawn Nellie!”
Refreshments will be served.
Everyone is welcome Tickets will be available at the door this is a
fundraiser for the 50th aniv celebration of the bee
Death notice: former Donnelly area resident Keith Sorensen
passed away on July 10th a celebration of life will be held on July
19th in Rochester.
Celebrations: Travis Fults won the prize for finding the
medallion during Ppd
Amber Recker was recently named to Msu-Mankato deans list
Former Donnelly area resident Lillian Heinrich was recently
named Queen of the WWV

Savannah Aanerud, 5,000 m; Rebekah Aanerud 4th
The Men’s fishing league results: swamp busters 2nd
place, team members included Gary Gulbrandson, 3rd place sharp filets;
members included Ryan Smith and Nancy Kisgen
Chad Swanson and Peggy Jergenson were the final button
winners during Ppd in Morris
Sheila Hemming and Michael and Shelly Storck of Morris along
with Michael and Cheryl Hahn of Grand Forks, N.D., are excited to announce the
engagement of their children Amber Storck and Jared Hahn. Amber’s great
grandmother was Olga Sax from the Donnelly area
The threshing bee royalty were part of the prairie pioneer
days parade in Morris on Aug 13th
Becca Holland won the 1-on-1 award at the recent girls’ bb
camp at MAHS
The community club held another lengthy meeting on July 13th
as we continue to finalize plans for the bee and other events. For more info

Extra I did not have room for in my column
Past week :Kiwanis talent show finals at Eastside Park, some
of the ppd activities at the park, mfd 125 aniv activities; Prairie wetlands
extravaganza, RTA mtg Barrett, visiting my aunt Pearl and Irene Strand in their
apts.
Also a reminder that Corrine Larson is looking for units for
the parade on the 30th, esp. anyone or anything associated with 1965. If you
were born, married, graduated etc. or have a car, truck, tractor, piece of
machinery etc. made in ’65 please contact her at 246-3434
