Welcome to another
edition of the Donnelly news.
Weather news: we had some welcome rain Wednesday evening crops
do continue to look good, some grain is being harvested; I see the grain for
the bee has been shocked. Garden produce
and crops at the Glenwood fair looked good as does what I saw the Morris fair
on Wednesday.
St. John’s/
Kongsvinger news: The summer schedule will continue until early September, Sunday
services are at 10 A.M.; Wednesday evening services are at 7 P.M. August 13th
and 23rd at Kongsvinger, August 20th St. John’s .The remaining
summer schedule is found in the August. Newsletter, copies are available at
both churches or from the parish office

Gladys Mungo,
from Haiti’s Children Inc., will be at Good Shepherd on August 27 for services at
9 a.m. plus a pot luck meal afterwards
The feed my starving children mobile packing event will
be held on August 28th-30th
at the Morris area elementary school, more info more contact the Morris evangelical free church at 589-2808Grief Share will begin Monday, August 14 and will meet every Monday at Morris Evangelical Free Church form 4-6 p.m. for a total of 14 weeks. All are invited to come and sing in a Summer Community Choir! There will be three rehearsals on three Sunday evenings in August. Rehearsals will be at 7:00 p.m. at Assumption Church on: Sunday, August 13, Sunday, August 20 and Sunday, August 27. The choir will then present a concert open to the public on Monday, August 28 at 7:00 p.m. at Assumption Church
Death notice: Earl B. Thorstad of Hoffman passed away on August 5th; survivors include his nephew former Donnelly area resident Scott Boener of St Cloud
Ginger Hagen of Alberta passed away on August. 7th survivors include her brother in law Richard “Dick” (Linda) Hagen of Donnelly;
Community news: on August 14th .the bookmobile will be in town on Main St. from 3:30-3:45 p.m., the firemen will meet at the fire hall and the community club will meet at community hall both at 7 p.m.
Donnelly area youth club will meet on August 16th from 4-6 p.m. at St. John’s
The Donnelly Threshing Bee (aka our annual family
reunion) will be held on August 25th- 27th on the grounds on the
south east corner of Donnelly. This year’s feature is all thing made by Allis,
the theme is “yippee it’s time for the bee”. There are posters up around the area,
or you can get one at McCollar Jewelry. Advance sale buttons are on sale at
various business in Donnelly and Dacotah banks in Morris and Chokio For more

the new Facebook page (one with the orange button on it) We are looking for
somebody to take over the white elephant sale and the kiddie parade, if not
they will not be held this year. Work
schedules will be mailed out soon. If you are not a on a committee but would
like to help let me or one of the officers know. Anyone
who wishes to bring items for display, play, sing, do some demonstrations etc.
is welcome to do so
There will be two upcoming work night for the bee at 6:30 p.m. the first one in on August. 22 to take things out and put fences and other things up, the second one is on August. 29th to take things down and put them away. Reminder any help before, during, or after the bee is welcome.
Activities on Saturday start at 7 a.m. with pancake
breakfast and a 5k run registration and conclude in the evening with music by pure
country on the grounds after the coronation. Please note that there will not be
a dance in the hall this year.in between we will have a sb tournament 5k tractorcade kiddie and regular tr. pulls bean bag
tournament queen coronation and pure country music. Lots of activities going
both days including threshing sawing, horseshoe tournament, demonstrations and
displays in the depot, school house, and other buildings and on the grounds. Anyone
is welcome to bring a tr. or machinery or some other display, do some demonstrating
play sing etc.
The Threshing Bee royalty were part of the
Flekkefest parade in Elbow Lake on August. 6th

queen are Jessalyn Marshall, (Brain and Diane Richardson); Hailey Lesmeister (Casey
and Danielle) grandparents, Tom and Roxanne Lesmeister, great grandmother
Della Dunn; Kaitlyn Peterson (Mike and Stacey (Volker)); Geoff
and Brenda Volker. Little miss candidate
is Tessa Hennessy daughter of Lisa and Josh Hennesy grandparents Sharon van
horn and Clay and Marlene van Horn of Donnelly
Brecken Carl Erickson was born on August. 8
to Adam and Kate Erickson of Cyrus; grandparents include Mark and Deb Erickson
of Donnelly, great grandmother Elsie Raasch of Morris
