donnelly news

Welcome to another edition of the Donnelly news.
Weather news:   it has rained off and on almost every day in the last week and is still raining as I write this Wednesday evening, badly needed, but made for a wet time at the Morris fair over the weekend; the produce/crops at the fair looked nice though.

St. John’s/ Kongsvinger news: The summer schedule will continue until early September, Sunday services are at 10 A.M.; Wednesday evening services are at 7 P.M.  August 23rd at Kongsvinger, August 20th and September 3rd St. John’s .The parish will be leading the community services at 9 a.m. on August 27th at the threshing bee. There will be no services at either church that day. Worship on Sunday, August 20 will be a Joint Service of Holy Communion and Parish Office Dedication at 10 A.M. at St. John's Church. Lunch will be served following worship (rather than at 9:15 A.M.) Everyone is welcome!


 The remaining summer schedule is found in the August Newsletter, copies are available at both churches or from the parish office
Our services will be broadcast on KMRS at 11 A.M. on August 20th
            Other church news: Gladys Mungo, from Haiti’s Children Inc., will be at Good Shepherd on August 27 for services at 9 a.m. plus a pot luck meal afterwards
The Feed My Starving Children mobile packing event will be held on August 28th-30th at the Morris area elementary school, more info more contact the Morris Evangelical Free church at 589-2808
 Grief Share will meet every Monday at Morris Evangelical Free Church from 4-6 p.m. for a total of 14 weeks.  For more info, contact Neil Leroux at 589-1788 or the church office at 589-2808.
All are invited to come and sing in a Summer Community Choir! Rehearsals will be at 7:00 p.m. at Assumption Church on: Sunday, August 20 and 27th. The choir will then present a concert open to the public on Monday, August 28 at 7:00 p.m. at Assumption Church.
Death notice Florence Christians of Morris passed away on August 13th survivors include her daughter Brenda (Jeff) Volker of Morris formerly of Donnelly and their family.

Community news: on August 28th.the bookmobile will be in town on Main St. from 3:30-3:45 p.m.,
On August 21st the firemen will meet at the fire hall at 7 p.m.
Retirement party for former Donnelly resident David Flugel as head of the Southwest Minn. sustainable developmental partnership ,  will be held on August 31st from 3:30-7 P.M. (program at 5:30 P.M.) at Hotel 200-Morris.

The Donnelly community club had a lengthy meeting on August 13th as we put the final touches on plans for the bee.
The Donnelly Threshing Bee (aka our annual family reunion) will be held on August 25th- 27th on the grounds on the south east corner of Donnelly. This year’s feature is all things made by Allis; the theme is “yippee it’s time for the bee”. There are posters up around the area, or you can get one at McCollar Jewelry. Advance sale buttons are on sale at various businesses in Donnelly and Dakotah banks in Morris and Chokio through August 25th activities start Friday eve with the community meal, tractor and kids games. We are looking for somebody to take over the white elephant sale, if not it will not be held this year. Work schedules have been mailed out. If you are not a on a committee but would like to help let me or one of the officers know. Anyone who wishes to bring items for display, play, sing, do some demonstrations etc. is welcome to do so. I do plan to have my cart on the ground again this year for use by handicapped individuals

There will be two upcoming work night for the bee at 6:30 p.m. the first one in on August 22 to take things out and to put fences and other things up; the second one is, on August 29th to take things down and put them away. Reminder any help before, during, or after the bee is welcome. 
Activities on Sunday start with the open air church service continue with the big parade through town, the horse pull and cash drawing with lots going on both days
Celebration the Chokio coyotes won the region 9c amateur bb title, chandler & ales Erickson and Tom Holland are members of that team, Bernice Erdahl had the grand champion leffsa in the homemakers’ bldg. again this yr. Monson motors won the elementary sb title this yr., Addison cihak was a member of that team. The 10 u Morris bb team took third at the state tournament this yr. Jonah & drew huebner were members of that team.
4-h results will be published in a special edition to the Aug. 27th paper

Past week visit to my aunt Pearl at her apt. activities of the St Co fair Morris, Haining family concert Dalton; Community club mtg in Donnelly; Morris co-op appreciation supper at Lee center ,someplace safe brat stand at Sv , open house at Stevens county times, bible study and wed eve services at GS (w/Eystads) bbb at Met lounge,christian funeral in Heman
