Welcome to another edition of the Donnelly news.
Weather news: after about a week of rain it was nice to see the sun again this week.

St. John’s/ Kongsvinger news: The summer schedule will conclude with services on September 3rd at St. John’s .The parish will be leading the community services at 9 a.m. on August 27th under the big top at the threshing bee. There will be no services at either church that day.

Kongsvinger will be serving meals; St John’s will have their sweet shop, the parish youth the pop shack again this year at the bee

St Charles (Theresia’s)-Herman will again have their hamburger stand at the bee



Other church news: Gladys Mungo, from Haiti’s Children Inc., will be at Good Shepherd on August 27 for services at 9 a.m. plus a pot luck meal afterwards. August 30th will be the last Wednesday evening service at the church
The Feed My Starving Children mobile packing event will be held on August 28th-30th at the Morris area elementary school, more info more contact the Morris Evangelical Free church at 589-2808
 Grief Share will meet every Monday at Morris Evangelical Free Church from 4-6 p.m. for a total of 14 weeks.  For more info, contact Neil Leroux at 589-1788 or the church office at 589-2808.
All are invited to come and sing in a Summer Community Choir! Rehearsals will be at 7:00 p.m. at Assumption Church on: Aug. 27th. The choir will then present a concert open to the public on Monday, August 28 at 7:00 p.m. at Assumption Church.
Death notices: Lori Lerbs passed away on August 16th and Mark Hickman passed away on August 17th both were from Donnelly
Community news: on August 28th.the bookmobile will be in town on Main St. from 3:30-3:45 p.m.,
Retirement party for former Donnelly resident David Fluegel as head of the Southwest Minn. sustainable developmental partnership, will be held on August 31st from 3:30-7 P.M. (program at 5:30 P.M.) at Hotel 200-Moris
The final parade for this year’s Threshing bee royalty was the Cornfest parade in Ortonville on August 20th
The Donnelly Threshing Bee (aka our annual family reunion) will be held today (Saturday.) and tomorrow (Sunday) on the grounds on the south east corner of Donnelly. This year’s feature is all things made by Allis; the theme is “yippee it’s time for the bee”. For more information you can visit the website: http://www.donnellythreshingbee.com and/or the new Facebook page (one with the orange button on it).Anyone who wishes to bring items for display, play, sing, do some demonstrations etc. is welcome to do so. I have my cart on the ground again this year for use by handicapped individuals. If you have any questions and/or concerns stop into the depot and talk to whoever is behind the desk or find one of the officers wearing shirts and caps with a shaft of wheat on them. No dogs bikes/dogs allowed on grounds golf carts must be registered at the depot, tractor  pullers, exhibitors, car show people etc. please enter by the south gate, ph. # on grounds is 246-3272

The 2nd work night for the bee is at 6:30 p.m., on August 29th to take things down and put them away. Reminder any help before and/or after, during, the bee is welcome.
There will be a bike ride, a DJ, and other activities at “A Place to be” during the weekend, contact them for more details

Moose island raiders took first place in 9-f sportsmen club trap shooting league, Jane Harstad, BJ Werk, Ryan Smith, Larry Ascheman, earned 25 straight patches, Ryan Smith 75 straight birds

Past week visit to my aunt Pearl at her apt. activities of the Rosholt threshing show, activities of the Swift county fair in Appleton and Ortonville corn fest, Hickman visitation, and work night at Threshing bee grounds
