Welcome to another edition of the Donnelly news. I am dedicating this issue to the memory of my aunt Mabel Van Olst who passed away on Nov 18th, 2002. She was my mom's sister.

 

Weather news: I am pleased to report that Old man winter decided to go away for a while. We have had some sunny warm weather this week. There is still some corn to be harvested and some tiling going on

ST. John's/Kongsvinger news: starting Nov 1st, the parish moves back inside with services at Kongsvinger on the first 3rd & 5th Sunday 2 & 4th Sundays at St. John’s at 9:30 AM.

• Masks are required

• No singing or reading/speaking for the congregation

• Social distancing required 

• Pews will be marked for seating to allow distancing

• Worship materials will be available on a table as congregants enter (bulletins, communion, and offering plates)

• No coat racks; please take your coats and jackets with you to your seat

• Broadcast on FM for those who wish to continue worship in your car, worship material available for pickup (St. John's –inside the kitchen door, Kongsvinger-inside kitchen door)

• Worship services will still be recorded and posted on Facebook and You-Tube

Sunday school has resumed at Kong from 10:30-11:15 AM; contact Aron or Kayla Erdahl for more info. At 246-4334

Thanksgiving services will be held on Nov 25th at 7:00 PM at St John's

Rev. Rochelle Anderson of Morris will be providing pastoral care until further notice; if you need care, contact the parish office or one of the church presidents. You can also watch our "virtue" services on Facebook and YouTube.

 Due to the COVID 19 outbreak, the parish office remains closed; call 246-3211, e-mail (stjKongsvinger@runestone.net), or send mail (box 97) assistance is needed.

Other Church news, Faith & First-Morris, are both having services back indoors now.

Fusion youth has restarted. TLC Cyrus, ST J/Kong Donnelly, Faith, First, and the Federated Church in Morris are the sponsoring churches for this ministry, which serves as the confirmation instruction for area youth. Contact any of the churches for more info.

GSLC news: there will be two services on Sun a.m. the first at 9 AM in the dining hall will be informal with no singing, and the 2nd one will be a regular one at 10:15 in the sanctuary.  For more info, call the church at 585-6868.

Please check with your local church for their plans consist of now, I assume outdoor services in our area have ended. A reminder that you will find virtual services, devotions, etc. on fb, YouTube, local access

 There is no meatball dinner at Faith-Morris or a Fall Festival at Kongsvinger this yr.  I assume this applies to most of the other fall church dinners in the area.

I asked a DFD member about turkey bingo, and they told me that nothing had been decided for sure yet about bingo, but they will probably do the raffle rather than have bingo.

Sandra D's designs and Décor is hosting a Merry & bright pop up sale on Nov 28 & 29th on the farm north of Donnelly on Cty rd. 9 & 14

 Dfd meets on Nov. 9th & 16th at the fire hall at 7 PM.

Although the bookmobile has not resumed regular visits to area towns, you can order materials online for pickup from them or delivery to you.

Orville Quist Orff, of Osakis, passed away on Oct 30th; survivors include his daughter (Cora (David) Pry of Morris and their family. The Pry’s owned and operated the cafe in D0nnelly for many years

Former Donnelly area resident Nick Daly of Benson passed away on Nov 3rd. 

Election results for Donnelly: Mayor Dale Ennen. Jacob Eystad and Mike Schmidt were elected to the city council. One of those elected to a seat on the Herman city council was former Donnelly area resident Jason Strand.
