donnelly newa

Oct 28-Nov 2nd

Welcome to another edition of the Donnelly news. This issue is dedicated to the memory of my Dad who passed away on Oct 31st 2005

Weather news: several inches of heavy wet snow and colder tamps during the past week is a reminder old man winter is on his way.      There are only a few un-harvested cornfields in the area.

ST. John's/Kongsvinger news: to the best of my knowledge, the November schedule is the same as the past few months have been, with drive-in services on the 1st & 4th Sundays of the month at Kongsvinger and St John's at 9:30 a.m. and "Service of the Word" on other Sundays. No other activities at either church.

Rev. Rochelle Anderson of Morris will be providing pastoral care until further notice; if you need care, contact the parish office or one of the church presidents. You can also watch our "virtue" services on Facebook and YouTube.

Due to the COVID 19 outbreak, the parish office remains closed; call 246-3211, e-mail (stjKongsvinger@runestone.net), or send mail (box 97) when assistance is needed.

Other Church news, Faith & First-Morris are both back indoors now.

Fusion youth has restarted. TLC Cyrus, ST J/Kong Donnelly, Faith, First, and the Federated Church in Morris, are the sponsoring churches for this ministry. Contact any of the churches for more info.

GSLC news: there will be two services on Sun a.m. the first at 9 a.m. in the dining hall will be informal with no singing, and the 2nd one will be a regular one at 10:15 in the sanctuary.  For more info, call the church at 585-6868. This month marks the 10th aniv of the movement of the GSLC from south of Alberta to its present location n of Morris. Thanks to the Hufford family for donating the land for the church to sit on

Please check with your local church for what their plans are. A reminder that you will find virtual services, devotions, etc. on fb, YouTube, local access channels, church websites, and the radio; for many area churches,

There will be No lutefisk dinner at first this year. Instead, a ham take -out dinner will replace it on November 4th call the church at 589-3242 from 4:30–7 p.m.

There is no meatball dinner at Faith or a Fall Festival at Kongsvinger this yr.  I assume this applies to most of the other fall church dinners in the area.

For sale in Donnelly: wooden desks by the community club; contact an officer for more details. And a fire truck by the DFD.

I asked a DFD member about turkey bingo, and they told me that nothing had been decided for sure yet about bingo, but they will probably just do the raffle rather than have bingo.

Betty Johnson of Donnelly passed away on Oct 11th. They have fixed the problem, which caused her live steam not to work, and you may view it on the funeral home website now.

Orville Brunkow of Chokio passed away on   Oct 15th local survivors include his sister Virene Olson of Morris and her children. Her late husband, Chester, was from the Donnelly area.
