Mar 2nd-8th

Welcome to another edition of the Donnelly news.

Weather news: we barely got dug out from a snowstorm last week when we had a blizzard on Sun that forced many churches in the area to cancel services on sun a.m.; it has been cold since then

St. John's/ Kongsvinger news: There will be Joint services at 9:30 a.m. at Kongsvinger March 3rd and ST. John’s March 10th followed by coffee hour and Sunday school

Ash Wednesday services will be held on March 6th at 7 p.m. and will again alternate between churches every Wed until Holy Week.



St john’s WELCA meets on March 12th at 1:30 p.m. note change of date

GSLC church Lenten services start on March 6th at 7 p.m. and continue every week until Holy Week.

The ELCA Glacial ridge conference annual assembly will be held on March 3rd at 2 p.m. at St Paul’s Lutheran church Lowry

Bold women’s day at 1st Morris has been re-scheduled to Apr 4th same time/ place.

St Mary’s school annual dinner auction March 9th at the National Guard Amory starting with social hour at 4 P.M. contact the school for tickets

There will be a Kingdom ball at the Morris Evangelical Free church March 2nd at 6 P.M.

West central homes annual meeting March 10th at 1 p.m. at Faith Morris

Jurn “Jerry” Lindahl of Morris passed away on February 20th survivors include his daughter Joan (Randy) Fults of Donnelly and their family

Merle Thorstad of Morris passed away on February 22nd. He was a long time member of our threshing Bee family bringing some of his Cockshutt tractors to display at the bee every year

Sean Cady of Donnelly passed away on February 24th local survivors include his dad Dick and his sister Julie (Joe) Kill and their family of both of Donnelly

  Lowell Juane Erickson of Park Rapids passed away on Feb 26th survivors include his sister former Donnelly area resident Margret (Peggy) Wishnack of Morris

Former Donnelly area resident Mary Johnsen Meyers of Park Rapids passed away on Feb 27th; her parents were Lynn and Helen he was the elevator manager in Donnelly for many years.

Papa’s angel recently received an award from the western mn sudden cardiac assoc. for their work in purchasing and distributing deliberators in the area

B inspired 3rd aniv celebration concludes today (Saturday) 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.

Welcome to another edition of the Donnelly news.
Weather news: cold and stormy has been the weather pattern most of the past week, due to weather and other factors (i.e., boiler problems) many students in the Morris school district have been out of class more than they have been in lately
St. John's/ Kongsvinger news: at 9:30 a.m. on February 17th at Kongsvinger there will be joint services followed by the Kongsvinger Cemetery association’s annual meeting and coffee hour, no Sunday school

Welcome to another edition of the Donnelly news.
Weather news: Well after a reasonably decent weekend temperature wise it has turned cold again this week although not as severe as last week.
St. John's/ Kongsvinger news: at 9:30 a.m. on February 10th at ST. John’s and on February 17th at Kongsvinger and there will be joint services followed by coffee hour and Sunday school.
Installation of church council members for both churches will be held on February 10th during joint services at ST.  John’s
 The Kongsvinger Cemetery association’s annual meeting is going to take place following services on February 17th
 On February 11th The Bookmobile will be in town from 3:45- 4 p.m. on Main Street and The Donnelly fire department will meet at 7 p.m. at the fire hall.
Donnelly youth club meets on February 20th at 4 p.m. at ST. John’s all area kids are invited to attend
An open house bridal shower for Kaitlin Van Horn, bride to be of Dustin Klever will be held today  (Saturday), from 9 to 11 a.m. at the home of Kathy Eystad, 301 Pacific Ave., in Donnelly. Her parents are Mark and Karen of Donnelly, her grandparents are Marge Kleinhans of Morris, and Ken and Irene Van Horn of Morris, both sets of grandparents are former Donnelly area residents

Weather news: well the predicated blizzards for last week and this week did not materialize, although I understand conditions were worse in the country than they were here in town, however this week we have had some of the coldest temps in many years, causing schools and other places to close for several days.
St. John's/ Kongsvinger news: at 9:30 a.m. on February 3rd at Kongsvinger and on February 10th at ST. John’s there will be joint services followed by coffee hour and Sunday school.

Cal Bertram of Wheaton passed away on January 26th survivors include his daughter Linda (Bruce) Flaten of Wheaton and their family, Bruce is a former Donnelly area resident
Ron Anderson of Alexandria passed away on January 27th; survivors include his sister Linda (Rod) Giese of the Morris/Donnelly area and their family
Samantha Searle, the daughter of Amy Searle, Iowa and Brad Searle, Donnelly, MN and Josh Bruns, the son of Richard and Joely Bruns of Fertile, IA, are happy to announce their engagement.

Welcome to another edition of the Donnelly news. I am dedicating this issue to my aunt Pearl A. Anderson who passed away on January 20th. She was more my “mom” than my aunt. Her funeral is today (Saturday) at 2 p.m. at the Pedersen funeral home with visitation one hour before services
Weather news: we have experienced the coldest days of the winter so far during the last week with -0 temps and cold winds, and as I am writing this Wednesday evening a blizzard is predicted for Thursday a.m.
St. John's/ Kongsvinger news: at 9:30 a.m. on January 27th at St John’s there will be joint services followed by Sunday school, the St John’s annual meeting, and potluck dinner, and on February 4th at Kongsvinger followed by coffee hour and Sunday school
Our services will be broadcast on KMRS (1230) (107.7) at 11 a.m. on January 27th

Kourtney Maria Giese, daughter of Brad and Kristi Giese of Donnelly, MN, and Gabel Ray Hoseth, son of Cassandra and Corey Hoseth of Twin Valley, MN, are happy to announce their engagement. Her grandfather is Wally Giese of Morris. The couple will be married June 15, 2019, at Faith Lutheran Church in Morris, MN.
Noah Jay Sayles was born December 22, 2018, at Alomere Health to Kirby and Alissa Sayles of Morris, MN. Noah weighed 8 lbs. 0 oz., and was 20.5 inches long. Grandparents are Dan and Casey Sayles of Morris, MN, Penny Melberg and Keith Wetzel of Morris, MN, and Jay and Laurie Melberg of Ashby, MN. Great-grandparents are Wally and Alice Sayles of Clinton, MN, Audray and Nancy Henrichs of Donnelly, MN, and Bob and Sharon Melberg of Chokio, MN.
Brady Cardwell recently earned his 50th career pin as a tiger wrestler.
Past week final visit to my aunt Pearl in her room at the courage cottage, ice fishing tournament at Pomme De Lake, annual meeting at Kongsvinger, bible study at GSLC, BBB at the met lounge.

Weather news: most of the past week had been reasonably decent temps wise, but some strong winds have made it feel cold and as I am writing this Thursday a.m. we have had -0 temps overnight
St. John's/ Kongsvinger news: at 9:30 a.m. on January 20th  at Kongsvinger there will be joint services followed by the annual meeting and potluck dinner, no coffee hour or Sunday school it will also be new member Sunday, on January 27th at St John’s followed by Sunday school, the annual meeting and a potluck dinner
Gslc news: (Special Guest) Johan Hinderlie of 1517 Legacy will be preaching and leading adult education on January 20th
The Bookmobile will be in town on January 28th from 3:45- 4 p.m. on Main Street
Donnelly Rod and Gun club's annual ice fishing tournament is today (Saturday) at Pomme de Terre public access north of Morris starting with registration at 9 a.m.
RUSC Kinship’s annual hot dish cook-off is January 28th starting at 5:15 p.m. at Faith Morris.
The Habitat for Humanity fundraising breakfast is on January 20th from 8 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. at the legion in Morris; free will offering.

I have some significant milestones to report on this week: former Donnelly area residents David Jergenson turned 101, and Bertha Larson celebrated her 97th birthday, and Jim and Lou Eystad celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary recently.

Weather news: "if you do not like the weather in MN. just wait and it will change" very evident in the past week as we have gone from some spring-like days to winter like days and back and forth several times in the past week.
St. John's/ Kongsvinger news: at 9:30 a.m. on January 13th there will be joint services at ST. John’s followed by coffee hour and Sunday school and on January 20th at Kong followed by the annual meeting and potluck dinner, no coffee hour or Sunday school it will also be new member Sunday
The annual meetings are January 20th at Kongsvinger and the 27th at ST. John’s
Donnelly youth club meets on January 16th, 4-6 p.m. at ST. John's
