donnelly news

July 13th-20th

 

Welcome another edition of the Donnelly news. I am dedicating this issue to the memory of my mom & dad, who were married on July 10th, 1949, in Elbow Lake.

Weather News, after a sweltering weekend, temps have cooled off, and as I am writing this Tue. Eve, it has rained most of the day "million $ rain" (about an inch). Last week we had a hail storm west of Donnelly that striped some fields, I was informed.

The Parish will be participating in VBS at Faith Morris this yr. from 7\26-7/31. Please get in touch with either the Faith or Parish office for more details or to register.

Kongsvinger Krusaders will be a part of the Relay for life on July 23rd at the Lee Center in Morris starting at 5 p.m. For more info, contact the church office.

There will be a virtual block party again this yr. during July to raise funds for the Stevens county food shelf

Wed eve services are at 7 p.m.; bible studies are Mon eve at 7 p.m., and Tue a.m. at ten a.m.no bible study for the next 2 wks.

Other church news west-central area churches present Ernie Haase and signature sound in concert at MAES concert hall July 16th at 7 p.m. a meal (free-will donation) will precede the concert at 5 p.m. This concert is a benefit for FMSC packing event tickets and other info https://www.erniehaase.com/tour.

At Summit cemetery on July 21st at 11 a.m., there will be graveside services for Wally McCollar 

Jason Armstrong of Farwell passed away on July 1st. survivors include the mother of his children Nicki (Hurlbut), a former Donnelly resident, and their family

John Arthur Kroening of Appleton passed away on June 30th. Survivors include his brother-in-law Dick Cady of Donnelly and his family...

Kari Jasper of Balsam Lake, Wis. passed away on July 3rd survivors include her father, Jim Jasper of Clear Lake, formerly of Donnelly.

 

 

Community organization meetings: The Rendsville 4-h meets on the first Monday of the month at 6:30 p.m. at St John's Donnelly. The City council meets on the 1st Sat of the month at 4 p.m. at city hall.  The community club meetings are on the 2nd Mon of the month at the community hall at 7 p.m. & the Donnelly Fire Department meets on the 2nd and 3rd Monday of the month at 7 p.m. at the fire hall. The Stevens county genealogical society will resume meeting in Sept. The bookmobile stops in Donnelly on the 2nd & 4th Monday of the month on Main Street from 2:45–3:00 p.m.; for more info, call 218.739.5286 or visit https://www.viking.lib.mn.us/bookmobile.  At the Place to Be in Donnelly at 6 p.m. on July 22nd, Aug.5 & 19th, the DFD will be having a meat raffle.

Please note the "official" FB page is Donnelly. Minnesota Threshing Bee. This year's show is on Aug. 28th & 29th; the feature is Ford/Massy Ferguson. Next yrs feature will be International Harvester.

Members of the Rendsville 4-h club are selling buttons for the Stevens county fair next month. If you buy one from a 4-h member, they get to keep some of the money.

Becky Deal is home from the St. Cloud hosp. Her brother Elroy Frank has started a go fund site for her; https://gofund.me/8cc4fbef.by.

Brochures from the Donnelly walking tour are now in the po.

Driving by Aanerud field one time I was in Donnelly, I saw some work done out there, so I assume some ball games are out there this yr.

The threshing bee royalty was part of the heritage day's parade in Starbuck.

Sarah Koning is the new clerk/treasurer in Donnelly

The past couple of weeks: LL games at Wells Park, regular services, and Mon. eve and Tue a.m. Bible study at Gs, Viking land band festival parade in Alex activities of the Hancock 4th and Heritage days in Starbuck, services, and 4th of July celebration at Kong Mon, eve and Tuesday a.m.  Bible study at Gs

After bible study Tue, I traveled to Donnelly and stopped in to see Jim & Lou Eystad for a few min. They are doing o.k.
