Welcome to another edition of the Donnelly news: Mark and I want to wish our fathers a happy
Father’s Day up in heaven
Weather news: the crop growing season has gotten off to a
good start, with plentiful rain showers, that have replenished the soil moisture,
and enough sunny, warm days to make up for the cloudy, cool days. The crops
that are up are looking very good, especially the “threshing bee” wheat field
ST John’s/Kongsvinger News: There will be joint services at
St John’s, on June 23 at 8:30 am
Bridal shower for Dani Kloos, bride to be of Jesse Streed,
on June 22nd, at Kongsvinger, at 10 am
Good Shepherd news: There will be adult forums, after coffee
hour, on the 1st and 3rd Sunday, of each month, during the summer months.
The Morris life care baby bottle fundraiser will end on June
23rd, bring the bottle back to the church, and put them in a box, in the pastor’s
office
Other church news:
The Minnesota all -state Lutheran choir will be on tour though out the
state, from June 15-26th, with performances in Fergus, Alex, and Spicer among
other places
Community news: sports events in Donnelly this summer
include:
Little League Games Monday and Tuesday evenings during June,
at Aanerud field, (the Rendsville 4-h will be selling lunch.)
Tri county Horseshoe league games Tuesday evenings at the
courts by the post office
Lady softball games also at Aanerud field.
There will be an open house wedding dance celebrating the
marriage of Cody and Christa (Bahr) Greeley today (Saturday), from 8 p.m. to
midnight at the Prairie Inn, Morris.
Open house 50th birthday party for Jeanne Ennen at the
Donnelly hall on June 16th from 2-4 pm
The Morris area high school class of 1973 will have a 40
year reunion June 22nd at the Crystal Lanes bowling center, beginning with a
social hour at 6 pm, followed by dinner.
Celebrations: Keith and Sheila Kaehler, Kelly Braun and Deb
and Todd Lohse are pleased to announce the engagement of their children Joanna
Braun and Christopher Lohse. Grandparents of the bride are Paul Bruns of Morris
and the late Joan Bruns and Milfred and Janice Kaehler of Morris.
St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Hampton, S.C. is hosting a
wedding shower for Mike Burke and Lauren Hefty today (Saturday). Mike and
Lauren will be married on Saturday, July 6 in Hampton, S.C. Let’s shower them
with cards from friends in Morris—Mike Burke/Lauren Hefty, c/o Leeanne Scaife,
192 Spruce St., Varnville, S.C. 29944.
Ruben and Bernadine Kruize of Cheyenne, Wyoming, celebrated
their golden wedding anniversary, on June 7th, his brother Howard and Meredith
Kruize of Plainfield, Wisconsin, celebrated their 40th on June 9th.
MaKenzie Smith has been named a nominee for the 53rd Annual
West Central Tribune Hengstler-Ranweiler Award.
Accomplishments: Tiger girls track results section :
(4th) Savannah Aanerud( 5th );800 run
MaKenzie Smith)1600 & 3200(1st )and discus (10th); Rebekah Aanerud (11th)100 intermediates
relay; 4x100 (3rd) (Beth Holland was a
member of that team); 4x 200( 3rd)) Beth was also a member of that team; 4x800
(8th )Savannah Aanerud was a member of that team.
MaKenzie Smith finished her Tiger athletic career, by
competing in the state track meet. She
finished 8th in the 3200 and 12th in the 1600
Chandler Erickson won 7 scholarships from the Chokio
–Alberta school district
Tim Smith was the winner of the Curtis Van Horn memorial
scholarship at Morris Area High school

Death notice former Donnelly resident Bill Underwood passed
away on June 10th, his memorial service is today (Saturday), at 11 am at
Kongsvinger, survivors include his wife Evelyn, daughter Karen (Gary) Uphoff,
and their family
Lois Johnson, Barb Riley, Helen Kill, Janet Malo, Joan and
Jerry Kopacek were at the Fergus Falls Veteran’s Home June 6th to assist with
the Bingo Party sponsored by the Morris VFW Auxiliary.
Afterwards Ken Cline showed the ladies his tomato plant and
joined them in a tour of the “Veteran’s Village”. Both Ken Cline and Ken
Johnson were in good spirits that day.
The Kopacek family were guests at Carol Day’s home Sunday
afternoon June 9th , along with Ben and Jerry Whitfield from Texas, and Don and
Donna Catron from California. Jerry and Donna are daughters of the late Donald
Aanerud of Morris
Glen and Gertie Werk and I, attended the visitation for Jean
Smith, at the Erickson - Smith funeral home, in Elbow Lake, on June 7th.
The Threshing Bee Royalty started their summer parade season,
by partaking in parades in Cyrus and Chokio, on June 8th. After the parade, in Cyrus, I took in some of
the activities of the all school reunion.
Bernice Erdahl and I, were among those who attended the New
Wine show, at Trinity Lutheran in Cyrus, on June 9th
Mark Koepke and I attended the little league game in
Donnelly on June 10th, and the ice cream social at the community hall
afterwards. After the social the community club had a meeting, as we continue
making plans for the bee. While I was at
the meeting, Mark visited with Sam and Dorothy Jordheim, and Lee and Donna
Eystad
When I was visiting Mark at this apartment on June 6th, Jean
Trost from Duvall, Washington stopped by; she was in town visiting her mother
Marge, and Sister Becky.
