donnelly news

Welcome to graduation issue of the Donnelly news. My regular column will resume next week.

Weather news: a few shots of rain during the past week along with mild temps have given crops a good boost. There was some minor wind damage in the area on Mon eve due to some strong straight line winds. The crops that are up are looking good most farmers in the area are either done or just about done with their planting and will now turn their attention to spraying.

STJ/KONG PARISH NEWS; Parish bible study “A shepherd looks at the good shepherd and his sheep” by Philip Keller is tentatively scheduled to meet at St J at 10 am Kong at 7 pm on June 2nd and 9th

There will be joint services on May 30th at 8:30 am at Kong. This marks the beginning of the summer worship schedule copies were included in the May newsletter and are posted at ea church extra copies are available at the parish office.

On June 6, 13, and 20th services will be at Kong at 8:30 and St J at 10:15 am

WAM will meet at ST. John's Lutheran church of rural Starbuck on June 5th coffee at 9:30 am program at 10 a.m. Rev Scott Groud will be the guest speaker via DVD.

Karen and Mark Janachovsky will be celebrating their 50th birthdays today (Sat) from 3-7 pm at their home 15763 510th Ave. Donnelly.

The red hatters will meet at Sax’s cafĂ© on June 7th at 9 am. Please bring Twins memorabilia to the meeting

The Don Com club will meet on June 7th at the community hall.

A memorial service for Kurt Kruize will be held at the Hancock H.S. gym at 1:30 pm on June 6th

There will be Little league games at Aanerud field in Donnelly at 6 pm on the following days June 1st, 8th, 9th, 15th, 16th, 22nd and 23rd. The June 1st game will feature the pirates vs. angels the 7th the tigers vs. royals, the 8th cubs vs. the brewers

Akayla May Werk was born on May 12th to Duane and Courtney Werk of Donnelly grandparents are Roger and Betty Werk of Herman great grandfather is Lloyd Plocker of Morris

Randy Backman and Melissa Ziemba of Houston, Texas, are engaged and plan to be married on July 10, 2010. Randy is the son of Doug and Carol Backman, of Alberta, and grandson of Liz Aschman. Melissa is the daughter of Gene and Kathy Ziemba of Beloit, Wis.

Evelyn Giese of E.L. passed away on Apr 28th. Family members that survive her include a brother in law Wally (Marlys) Giese and their family.


Dell James Fynboh, 66, of Oroville, Calif. and Spicewood, Texas, died May 15, 2010 at his home in Texas. A nephew Greg (Naomi) Fynboh and family of Donnelly are among the family members that survive him

Jim and Lou Eystad at Courtney Vogel’s graduation party in Morris on May 22nd. On the 23rd they attended the graduation party for Shawn Lein and the S.S. picnic at the Eden Reformed church in Herman. On the 25th they were among the volunteers that attended the coffee party for older Americans at the sr. center.
