Next edition May 22nd –may 28th

Welcome to another edition of the Donnelly news
Weather news: After several weeks of cool cloudy damp weather the weather took a dramatic turn for the better last Fri when the sun came out and temps have climbed into the 70 & 80’s. Farmers are busy in the fields my neighbor figured they would be done planting the beans by the end of the week.
STJ/KONG PARISH NEWS; Parish bible study “A shepherd looks at the good shepherd and his sheep” by Philip Keller will meet at Kong at 7 pm on May 27th. Due to the food distribution there will be NO a.m. study. We also made tentative plans to meet on June 2nd and 9th


May 23rd is baccalaureate sun. Parish grads will be recognized during services and during a brunch at Kong at 9:30 am.

There will be joint services on May 30th at 8:30 am at Kong.

The SW MN WELCA synod convention will be held on June 11 &12th a portion of the offering will be health kits
There is a box at Kong to donate items for it until June 1st. Items wanted include dark colored hand towels and wash clothes, bath size bar soap, adult size tooth brushes (NO TOTHPASTE) wide size comb metal, nail file or nail clipper with file and band aides.

Congratulations to Mason and mark Dunn for earning perfect attendance pins for the yr from the parish S.S.

The May issue of Meyer Mission news is now out. Copies are available in the narthex of ea parish as well on my blog site.

An open house baby shower for Brooklyn Kaye Koehntop, daughter of Kyle and Mandi Koehntop, will be held on Sunday, May 23 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Morris Senior Center. They are registered at Target.

There will be a free food distribution in Donnelly on May 27th at 11 am at the fire hall. Anyone who wants to help should call 1 800-492-4805 .If you eat you qualify to get the food. There will also be food distribution in Morris and Hancock later in the day.

The citywide garage sales continue today in Donnelly.

Wednesday, May 26, 1 p.m.: Seeing Modern Art. Michael Eble, Associate Professor of Studio Art and HFA Gallery Curator at UMM, will explain what to look for and how to see it. Morris Senior Community Center. Sponsored by Learning Unlimited.


Congratulations to Gary Huebner on his new job as service manager for Valu Ford and Mercury of Morris. His parents are the late Fred and Gladys Huebner

Joseph David Lonergan was born on May 10, 2010 at Stevens Community Medical Center, Morris, to Michael and JoAnn Lonergan of Morris. Grandparents are David and Elsie Lonergan of Donnelly and Melvin Shackelford from Revillo, S.D. Great grandmother is Grace Derby of Herman.

Logan Ronald Gramith was born on May 6, 2010 at Stevens Community Medical Center, Morris, to Alisha and Matthew Gramith of Morris. Grandparents are Ron and Sue Wevley of Donnelly and John and Kari Gramith of Norwood Young America. Great grandparents are Esther Wevley and Elizabeth Ascheman of Morris.

The Morris Tiger boy’s track team came in 2nd at the Little Crow track meet held recently in New London. Tyler Rouske is a member of the 4x100 relay team, which finished first. He also placed 5th in the sprints and was a member of 4x200 relay team that finished 6th.

May 14th a good crowd was on hand for the ice cream social at the WWV. Lynn Shultz provided the music; afterwards I visited Mary Dripps at her home in Morris. She was telling me some of the “perks” that went with having your Dad as janitor of the school. In the eve it was off to the Eagles Club for the Habit for Humanity spaghetti supper fund raiser. En route home I stopped into visit my aunt Pearl (Albert) Anderson

May 15th a good crowd was on hand for the umm commencement ceremony. Bennet Smith gave a very good address en route home I stopped in to visit Sam and Dorothy Jordheim.

Pearl A. Anderson and I were among the family and friends who attended the funeral service for Delores Root on May 18th at Assumption Catholic church in Morris.

I plan on using my column next week to recognize area grads. I will again be using a variety of sources (parish newsletter, area papers personal observations etc) to list as many of the grads (H.S. and higher ed) from the Donnelly area as possible. If you have a grad you would like to me to recognize please let me know or vice versa.
