Weather news: it has been very hot and humid this
week, fans, ac and other cooling devices have been working overtime. Corn and
wheat continue to look very good, beans are lagging some.
STJ/KONG News: there will be joint services at St J
on July 8th @ 8:30 a.m. and on July 15th at Kong at 10:15 am. David Holtz
executive director of Luther crest will be the guest speaker on the 15th,
the next communion service will be on July 22nd.
There will be a special meeting at Kong on July 15
following services regarding the shingling /repair of the church
Joint councils will meet on July 12th at 7 pm at ST
J. note change of day.
St J Welca will meet on July 10th at 1:30 pm note
change of date.
GSLC news David Patterson of ilt will be giving a
presentation during adult Ed on July 8th to talk about the “word at work”
series starting this fall. PR Mike is one of the speakers at ilt chapel services
which are archived on “you tube”
The red hatters will meet on July 20th at the 4-h
food stand in Herman at 11 am during the grant co fair
The 23rd Annual Luther Crest Bible Camp Quilt
Auction will be held today (sat) at the Bible Camp near Alexandria. Quilt review, silent auction, bake sale
begins at 10 a.m. and live auction starts at 12:30 p.m.
The community club will meet on July 9th at 7 pm at
the Donnelly hall
RTA annual meeting on July 11th 7 pm WCAHS Barrett
July 12th will be the final game of ladies sb in
Donnelly at 7 pm. The tri county horseshoe league also has games every week at
the courts by the po
Ufmsb will be celebrating their centennial with a
variety of events on July 13th in Donnelly starting with an ice cream social
and concluding with a fireworks display
I have a little story to tell about the bank. My
grandmother was Norwegian and she never learned to speak English so when she
needed to do some business at the bank she went to see CC Erstad the president
who was Danish. The two languages were similar enough so they could understand
each other.
There will be a benefit supper and silent auction
for Tyler Smith on July 19th from 4:30-7:30 pm in the tiger/cougar rooms at the
prairie inn in Morris, he has a heart defect. His parents are Nathan and
Heather Smith, grandparents are Roger and Sherry Gausman of Alberta, and
Richard and Suzanna Smith of Morris, great grandmother is Pauline Smith, free
will offering. If unable to attend to you can mail donations to Colleen Neal
box 132 Alberta MN 56207 (Make checks out to Thrivent finical)
Douglas D. Pedersen, of Ivanhoe, passed away on June
21st; survivors include his father Ken Pedersen, and uncle, Merrill Pedersen
both of Alex, and former Donnelly area residents. They owned and operated the
Pedersen funeral home in Morris for many years.
Adam Jerome Lesmeister and Kendra Lee Gaebel proudly
proclaim their engagement. Parents are Jerry and Jane Lesmeister of Morris and
the late Jeanne Lesmeister, and Gary and Lori Gaebel of Becker, grandmother is
Shirley (Anderson) Holman
On Tuesday, July 3 at the Blood mobile, Kathy Eystad
completed her 8 gallon donation; Beth Heinrich completed her 4 gallon donation
On Apr. 11 the annual band solo and ensemble
contests were held in Morris, the following received awards as members of a
group: McKenzie Smith and James Burke Jazz 1,McKenenzie was also a member of
the sax septet, the sax sextet and wind
ensemble; Tom Holland and James Burke trombone quartet Alyssa Uphoff and
McKayla Smith wind ensemble clarinet choir, McKayla also was a member of the
woodwind duet; Dalton Lupke and John Huebner brass ensemble ,Pat Uphoff; brass
ensemble ,and a euphonium solo ;Brandon Pry brass ensemble ;Mark Dunn and Myles
Smith brass quartet Amber Recker flute

Congratulations to Scott and Judy Neumann who
recently celebrated their silver wedding anniversary
Happy 28th anniversary on July 4th, to Robert and
Sondra Koepke in Orlando, Florida
Congratulations to the Morris b squad sb team that
had an undefeated season Samantha Heinrichs was a member of that team

all-conference honors in track Beth Holland, MaKenzie Smith, Kourtney Geise,
and Savannah Aanerud
Congratulations to Brooke Geliespe who won the hustle
award for grades 6-8 at the tiger bb camp she also placed in the top three in
several events of the kid’s games during the Chokio community picnic
A good crowd was on hand again for the Kiwanis
talent show on June 28th the group tea tom took first place
A good crowd was on hand on June 30th for the
memorial service for Esther Pasche at St Paul’s Lutheran church, in the aft I
traveled to Herman to help do some painting at the fairgrounds
After services at Kong on July 1st I visited Denny
Anderson in his house in Donnelly later Jim and Lou Eystad and I visited Gary
Weirs at scmc as of this writing he is in the Good Sam home in Hoffman
Jerry and Joan Kopacek spent an enjoyable time at
Luther Crest Bible Camp Women’s Week from the 24th-28th. Bernice Erdahl was one
of the lefsa makers Monday. Mason Dunn from “xtereme camp” helped lead the
Dining room grace Thursday. This year the women got to go zip-lining on the
camp’s new high ropes course. On the way home they stopped in Hoffman to visit
Marvel Wagner, who said to say “Hi!” to everyone. Jerry and Joan will be back
at camp the 6th and 7th to assist with their annual Quilt Auction.
