DONNELLY NEWS

Next edition Aug 7th -13th

Welcome to another edition of the Donnelly news.
Weather news: The weather during the past wk has been hot and humid with a few showers sprinkled in to freshen things up. grain harvest is underway in the area.
STJ/KONG PARISH NEWS: Communion services will be held on Aug 8th at both churches. It will also be reclaim Sun. This is a change from what was announced in the summer schedule.
The Aug newsletter is now out extra copies are available in the narthex of both churches.

WAM will meet on at Trinity of Benson (700 NV ave) coffee at 9:30 am meeting at 10 am; the program will be a DVD presentation by Dr Buda director for Africa national ministries of the Elca.

Craig and Lori (Backman) Eveslage would like to invite you to an open house wedding dance beginning at 8 p.m. at the Best Northland Prairie Inn in Morris. Everyone welcome

The Ltd fishing tournament will be held on Lake Minnewaska from 11am - 4 PM with headquarters at the waters edge in Starbuck. For more info call

memorial services for Cathy (Borner) Engebly of Hoffman will be held at 11 am at Messiah Lutheran Church in Hoffman. She passed away on Aug 3rd.

There will be open house birthday parties for Grace (Gulbrandson) Derby (90); Arlene Gulbrandson (80), and cleo (Gulbrandson) Gandrud (80) at the Eagles club in Morris from 2-5 PM. there will be lunch and a program.

the Don community club will meet on Aug 9th at 7 PM at the city hall. work schedules will be mailed out soon remember help by anybody at anytime is always welcome "many hand make light work". we will have work nights on the grounds on the 24th and 31st. remember you can save a dollar by buying your button in advance and look for posters throughout the area.

primary election day is Aug 9th, most donnelly area voters will vote at city hall in Donnelly.


Connor Harvey Flaten was born on June 22, 2010 at Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar, to Justin and Carrie Flaten of Hancock. Grandparents are Harvey and Mary Flaten of Hancock and Chuck and Pat Dingman of Morris. Great grandparents are Millie Dingman of Morris and Eddie and Lou Kopel of Donnelly.

Amber Kruize and Scott Melberg are engaged to be married August 28, 2010 at Faith Lutheran Church in Morris. Amber is the daughter of Brian and Peg Kruize of Morris. Scott is the son of Robert and Sharon Melberg of Chokio.

congratulations to the 14u bb team that won the state tournament held in Austin July 23-25th, Bryce Jergenson was a member of that team and his dad Rob was one of the coaches.

Adam Erickson and Katie Braaten were married on July 31st at Long Lake resort near Brandon MN.

Many of us from the area attended hort night at the wcroc gardens in Morris on July 3. the night included tours of flowers that would have been found in a 1910 garden and some of the research projects that are taking place around the farm.



Verle and Della Dunn and I were among the many family and friends who attended the visitation for Donna Eystad Bahr at first Lutheran on July 30th. Later Steve Fults & I were among those who attended the one for Melvin Wohlers at the funeral home.

Jim and Lou Eystad and I attended the funeral for Donna Bahr at first Lutheran on July 31st. We also attended the vbs kickoff service and dinner at St J on Aug 1st. In the eve Eystad's attended the sweet corn feed at Trinity in Alberta.

dick goldenstien attended the committal service for Wilma Matejka at summit cemetery on July 31st. Wilma was his classmate and he and her husband Wayne double dated for many yrs.

I need to clarify an item from last wks column. Melvin and Donna Eystad bought the Donnelly truck service from Leonard Smith in the early '70's and later sold it to members of their family who still own and operate the business in Donnelly.

Andy Brevig and I attended the st co rep party central cmte meeting at Detoy's on Aug 2nd. The party will have a booth at the St co fair again this yr and is looking for people to help us out by taking care of the booth . If you are willing to spend a couple of hrs or more sitting in there please call 589-1999 by Aug 12th.

The Donnelly threshing bee royalty were among those who attended the Miss Morris/Midwest pageant on July 31st at the MAHS auditorium

Kelly Fults -Frank and Carrie Rouske are new distributors for "what's shakin" in the area. you can call Carrie at 287-2336. Kelly has also recently opened a real estate office in Morris at 510 Atlantic Ave. she can be reached at 815-5089
