Weather news sort of a typical fall week, some lovely sunny warm days along with a few cold ones and some snow.

S.T. John's/Kongsvinger news: starting Nov 1st, the parish moves back inside with services at Kongsvinger on the first 3rd & 5th Sunday 2 & 4th Sundays St. John's 9:30 a.m. With restrictions masks, social distancing, no coffee hour. etc., there is SS. every Sunday after services at Kong, more info, call Aaron & Kayla Erdahl 246-3234

Not been feeling 100% for a while, so I have not gone to much of anything. Did drive up to Donnelly on Oct 31st. The setup  the t bee royalty had for their drive-in event this year looked nice. The ham dinner at first was good, although I would like to have had lutefisk; the veteran's bbq. They had at the legion a while ago was delicious too.

Nov 17th-24th

Welcome to another edition of the Donnelly news.

After a nice week winter made a return this week. I think all the corn and bean fields in our area have been harvested.  Some farmers are still doing some fall tillage and installing some tile.

ST. John's/Kongsvinger news: starting Nov 1st, the parish moves back inside with services at Kongsvinger on the first 3rd & 5th Sunday 2 & 4th Sundays at St. John's 9:30 AM.

• Masks are required

• No singing or reading/speaking for the congregation

• Social distancing required

• Pews will be marked for seating to allow distancing

• Worship materials will be available on a table as congregants enter (bulletins, communion, and offering plates)

• No coat racks; please take your coats and jackets with you to your seat

• Broadcast on FM for those who wish to continue worship in your car, worship material available for pickup (St. John's –inside the kitchen door, Kongsvinger-inside kitchen door)

• Worship services will still be recorded and posted on Facebook and You-Tube

Sunday school has resumed at Kong from 10:30-11; 15 AM; contact Arron or Kayla Erdahl for more info. at 246-4334.

Jim Aanerud of Donnelly informs that his sister Charlotte Arodote (sp)? Welcome to another edition of the Donnelly news. I am dedicating this issue to the memory of my aunt Mabel Van Olst who passed away on Nov 18th, 2002. She was my mom's sister.

 

Weather news: I am pleased to report that Old man winter decided to go away for a while. We have had some sunny warm weather this week. There is still some corn to be harvested and some tiling going on

Orville Quist Orff, of Osakis, passed away on Oct 30th; survivors include his daughter (Cora (David) Pry of Morris and their family. The Pry’s owned and operated the cafe in D0nnelly for many years

Former Donnelly area resident Nick Daly of Benson passed away on Nov 3rd. 

Election results for Donnelly: Mayor Dale Ennen. Jacob Eystad and Mike Schmidt were elected to the city council. One of those elected to a seat on the Herman city council was former Donnelly area resident Jason Strand.

Arlene Gulbrandson of Barrett passed away on Oct 27th survivors include her son Gary (Bonnie) Gulbrandson of Donnelly and their family.

Edward Dummer of Alex, formerly of Donnelly, passed away on Oct 28th. He was a manager at the Donnelly co-op for many years

Marilyn Olson of Herman passed away on Oct21st; she was preceded in death by her brother & sister-in-law Alan (Joyce) Olson of Donnelly

Reminder today is Election Day. All voters outside of the city limits of Morris will vote by mail-in Stevens co.

Weather news: several inches of heavy wet snow and colder tamps during the past week is a reminder old man winter is on his way.      There are only a few un-harvested cornfields in the area.

ST. John's/Kongsvinger news: to the best of my knowledge, the November schedule is the same as the past few months have been, with drive-in services on the 1st & 4th Sundays of the month at Kongsvinger and St John's at 9:30 a.m. and "Service of the Word" on other Sundays. No other activities at either church.

Betty Johnson of Donnelly passed away on Oct 11th. They have fixed the problem, which caused her live steam not to work, and you may view it on the funeral home website now.

Orville Brunkow of Chokio passed away on   Oct 15th local survivors include his sister Virene Olson of Morris and her children. Her late husband, Chester, was from the Donnelly area.

 

Most voters in the Donnelly area will vote by mail or at the courthouse in Morris.

Joyce Mau Trisko and Eliane Overson Stork were among those of us who attended the funeral luncheon for Betty Johnson at the old #1 in Morris on Oct 14th.

Past week: campaign work for Jeff Backer, Beyer & Benson funerals at Gs, respect life banquet old # 1 Morris.

Weather news, for the most part, the weather has been sunny & mild we had a good rain shower sun eve. Giant mountains of corn in the area mean corn harvest is precedency rabidly some tiling, and fall tillage is =also going on in the area.

ST. John's/Kongsvinger news: The October schedule is the same as it has been for several months, with drive-in communion services at Kong on the first Sunday of the month and the 4th Sunday at St John's. Other Sundays will be a service of the word. No other activities will take place in either church until further notice.  I assume Nov. will be the same.

Betty Johnson of Donnelly passed away on October 11th

Lila Asmus of St cloud passed away on October 16th; survivors include her grandaughter Audrey Larson (and the late Steve)of Donnelly and her family. 

Moose Island raiders won the 9-f trap shooting league BJ Werk was the high shooter.

The threshing bee Royalty part of the Morris Area h.s. homecoming parade on October 9th

KAYLA VOLKER & Joel Lyle were married on Aug.1st at the Bratten barn -Glenwood. her dad is Kevin Volker of the Donnelly area

Cruz Michael Villella was born on September 29th to Gerardo villa & Courtney Jergenson of Morris grandparents include Jerri Jergenson of Morris, great grandparents include bob & barb Jergenson of Morris.

Seira Marie Hormann was born on September 30th at scmc to drew and Miranda Hormann of Starbuck.  Grandparents are dean & Leila Hormann of Starbuck. The late John Delong is great grandparent,

Weather news after a chilly weekend, it has turned nice this week. Most of the soybean harvest in the area is complete. So now a lot of the corn in the area is being picked.

Wally Raasch of Starbuck passed away on October 3rd; survivors include his granddaughter, jenny (Joey (Fults) of Donnelly.

The community club had a meeting on October 5th. We decided that we will plan on doing everything we had planned on doing this year at next year's show. Thanks in part to our raffle sales; we are ok finically. We tentatively scheduled the next meeting to be held in Feb. Discussion was held on the annual community Halloween party. It will have to be in the park if we have one that is yet to be determined.

I asked a DFD member about turkey bingo, and they told me that nothing had been decided for sure yet about bingo, but they will probably just do the raffle rather than have bingo.

Toni (Kloos) Hughes is one of the new teachers at the Morris school this yr.
