Welcome to another edition of the Donnelly news,
Weather news: a nice weekend has given way to a cold and
rainy week so far have not seen any evidence of widespread field work, although
I have heard of a few farmers planting wheat.
St. John’s Kongsvinger news: St. John’s spring fling is
today (Saturday) from 10:30 a.m. - 1 p.m., cradle roll sun and adopted
grandparent Sunday is on April 23rd during Sunday school
Gslc news: deadline to return the options for women fundraiser
baby bottles is April 23rd
Other church news: Burgers, Blessings and Beverages will
return on April 26th at 7 p.m. at the Met Lounge
Glacial ridge conference of the WELCA will meet on April
24th at Glenwood Lutheran-Glenwood starting with registration at 4 p.m.
SW MN women of the ELCA will meet on May 6th at Gloria Die
Lutheran church Redwood Falls starting with registration at 8 a.m.
The ABC sale at Zion-Morris is April 27th 3-6 p.m.
and April 28th 2-5 p.m.
Augustana district (LCMC) will have their annual meeting on April
28th starting at 2 p.m. at Christ the King Lutheran church
Hutchinson. Destination Reformation will be held at St John’s Lutheran church
Howard Lake MN on April 29th starting at 9 a.m.
Community events: There will be Open house bridal shower at
the Kongsvinger parish hall for Crystal Henrichs bride to be of Brad Searle on
April 29th from 10 a.m.-noon her parents are Rollie and Deb, his parents are
Lowell and Janet Searle grandmother is Agnes
The Herman red hatters will meet on May 1 at Mai Mexico in
Morris at 11 a.m.
The Mitch Kendiel Memorial Archery shoot at Neimackl Park is
on April 22 & 23rd starting at 8 a.m. both days the park is about halfway
between Donnelly and Herman on Hy. 9
The Rockin c ranch of rural Donnelly will open up again in early
May
The Bookmobile will be in town on April 24th on Main
St.-Donnelly from 3:45-4 p.m.
The Rendsville 4-h will meet on May 1st at 7 p.m.
at St. John’s-Donnelly
The city council will meet on May 6th at 4 p.m.
at city hall-Donnelly
The Stevens county Genealogical society will meet on May 4th
at 1:30 p.m. at the library. More info 585-6435
Wags whiskers and wine sponsored by the Stevens County Humane
society May 6th at Old #1 Southside starting with social hour at 6 p.m.
Death notices: former Donnelly area resident Pam (Alm)
Peterson of Buffalo MN passed away on April 13th survivors include her cousin
Lou Eystad of Donnelly. Her parents were the late Parnell and Marlys Alm of
Donnelly
Colleen Spittle of Elbow Lake passed away on April 19th
her husband Sid was co-op manger in Donnelly for many years
Girls track tiger invite girls (first); Savannah Aanerud
1600 m (8th) and was part of the 4x800 m team that finished third,
Islande Speer was part of the 4x100 relay team that finished first; boys (first)
Levin Strand was part of the 4x100 m relay team that finished 2nd and 4x200 m
relay team that placed first
FFA awards: Savanah Aanerud
Morris area FFA star in Ag placement, Sam Greiner outstanding Jr. Award, Justus
Moser outstanding 8th grader
Past week: Maundy Thursday and Good Friday services at GSLC,
Easter services at GS and Kongsvinger a visit to my aunt Peal in the eve to
wish her a Happy Easter, lunch w/PR. AJ in Alex, visit to Harold Rippe in
Glenwood en route home, Pam Peterson funeral at Pedersen funeral home, rummage/bake
sale and supper at Faith _Morris
