Welcome to another edition of the Donnelly news,
Weather news: There have been some fairly nice temps here
the past week, have not seen any sign of fieldwork yet. When I was on the farm
I knew when spring fieldwork started by the steady stream of Donnelly co-op
vehicles going by my place but no more
St. John’s Kongsvinger news:
Holy week services: Palm Sunday (April 9th) joint services at
Kongsvinger at 11 a.m. with Sunday school kids singing (services will also be
broadcast on the radio at 11 am in memory of Ervin & Leana Smith by Gary
& Pat Smith and family.)Maundy Thursday (April 13th) supper/ services at
Kongsvinger at 6 p.m. Good Friday (April 14th) pancake supper at 6 p.m.at ST. John’s,
services at 7 p.m. at St John's Easter Sunday (April 16th) services at St.
John’s at 8:30 a.m.; Kongsvinger at 11 a.m. ;no Sunday school
There are still several dates left to sponsor in 2017 for
the KMRS radio broadcast. If you would like to sponsor one of these broadcasts
in 2017, please contact the Parish Office at 246-3211 and reserve your date
Good Shepherd Lutheran Church news: Holy week services: Palm
Sunday at 9 a.m. (with confirmation) Maundy Thursday and Good Friday at 7 p.m.
Easter Sunday at 9 a.m.
Other church news: Burgers, Blessings and Beverages will
return on April 26th at 7 p.m. at the Met Lounge
There will be a community ecumenical Good Friday tabernacle
service at Assumption Catholic Church on April 14th at 7:30 p.m. featuring a
community choir.
Glacial ridge conference of the WELCA will meet on April
24th at Glenwood Lutheran starting with registration at 4 p.m.
Community events: Someplace Safe’s annual Belgian Waffle
fundraiser at Old# 1 Southside April 9th from 9am -12:30 p.m.
There will be two Open house bridal showers at the
Kongsvinger parish hall. First one is for Jessica Bergstrom (her parents are
Becky &and the late Charlie; grandmother is Irene Strand) bride to be of
Joe Oelke on April 15th from 9:30 a.m-11:30 a.m. The second one is for Crystal
Henrichs bride to be of Brad Searle on April 29th from 10 a.m.-noon
On April 10th the bookmobile is in town from 3:45-4 p.m. on
main St., the firemen meet at the fire hall, and the community club meets at
the town hall both at 7 p.m.
the Freddy’s force benefit at Faith on March 18th served
about 900 people and raised about $40,000, and, the donkey ball game on March
13th raised about $4,000.
Death notices: Former Donnelly/Herman area resident Darrell
Gulbrandson of Alexandra passed away on March 30th his funeral is today
(Saturday) at 1 p.m. at the Hoffman community center.
Former Donnelly area resident Les Nelson passed away on
April 4th his service is today (Saturday) at Faith Lutheran Morris. Survivors
include his nephew Steve (Sue) Nelson of Donnelly, sister former Donnelly area
resident Agnes Searle of Morris
Islande Speer was part of the Morris Junior Olympic volley
ball team that won the championship in a tournament at UMM on Sunday
Savanah Aanerud is one of the captains of the Tigers girls
track team and Dakota Lupke is one of the captains of the boy’s team. They opened the season at the Marv Meyer
invitational at UMM both the boys and girls placed first in the meet. Savannah
placed 2nd in the 400 meter dash. Islande Speer was part of the 4x100 relay
team that finished 1st. In the boys Levin Strand was part of 4x200 m relay team
that took first, was part of the 4 x 100 m team that finished 2nd
Wyatt Verle Busse was born on March 29, 2017 at Stevens
Community Medical Center in Morris, to Maggie Wiener and Tyler Busse of
Appleton. Grandparents are Al and Jane Wiener of Sauk Centre and Jim and Julie
Busse of Appleton. Great-grandparents
are Ray and Joyce Citterman of Ivanhoe, Della Dunn of Donnelly and late Verle
& Helen Dunn of Donnelly
Past week: seminar and sale at the Wulf farm, Hancock, John
Inman funeral at WWV, meatball supper at Peace Lutheran Barrett, afterwards
visited Iver Aal at the Barret Care center, helped with naps at sr. center,
Lenten services at Gs.
