Aug. 20th-26th

Welcome to another edition of the Donnelly news this week’s column is somewhat abbreviated as I spent several day in the hospital  due to pneumonia but am home now & feeling better thank you for all your prayers on my behalf
Weather news; it was a very nice weekend for the fair and some welcome rain fell on Monday.   Garden produce at the fair looked fantastic; crops really look green and luscious too.  I see some beans are turning, most small grain is harvested.
St. John’s Kongsvinger news: the parish will be leading services under the big top tent on the Threshing Bee grounds on Aug. 28th @ 9 a.m.  Everyone welcome!
Kongsvinger will serve meals in the steel building both days and St. John’s will have their sweet shop both days too they are looking for people to work in there.
There will be 140th anniversary celebration for Kongsvinger on Sept. 18th  beginning with dedication of the remodeled church basement at 9:30 am followed by coffee hour., services with Holy Communion at 11 am followed by a potluck dinner followed by cupcakes and ice cream. God’s work our hands will be held on Sept. 11th       Part of the day will spent cleaning up Kongsvinger for the celebration if want to help or you need some assistance or know somebody that does (i.e. yard raking, washing windows etc.) contact the parish office   for more info at 246-3211
Kongsvinger services will be broadcast on the radio on KMRS on Aug 21st sponsored by Pastor Mike and Sue Nelson in honor of their 40th wedding anniversary
Other church news: Grief Share started on August 15 at the Morris Evangelical Free Church--Mondays 4-6 p.m.  There will be 13 weekly sessions.  Grief Share is open to anyone grieving the loss of someone close.  This group is sponsored by people who understand what you are experiencing and want to offer you comfort and encouragement during this difficult time.  This ministry has seen people come from all throughout the Morris area, from different church backgrounds, and various grief situations.  For more information contact the Grief Share facilitator, Neil Leroux 320-589-1788.

There will be an Open house bridal shower for Alisha Melberg bride to be of Kirby Sayles on Sept. 10th from 9-11 am at Kongsvinger. She is the daughter of Jay, Penny Melberg
MHS class of 1961 will have their 55th class reunion on August 27th at Hotel 200 (old Prairie Inn)
Death notice Ron Hawkinson of Chokio passed away on Aug. 14th survivors include his step son Aaron Larson (friend: Sarah) of Donnelly;
Celebrations no open class or homemaker entries to report on from the Morris fair look for 4-H results in a special edition to the paper on Aug.—or on the KMRS –KKOK website
The Threshing Bee royalty were part of the Flekkefest parade in Elbow Lake on Aug. 7th
The Threshing Bee will be held on Aug. 27 & 28th Sunday activities start with a open air worship service at 9 a.m. followed by classic car registration and show  followed by the parade at 1:30, through downtown  followed by the horse pull  and cash drawing to end the day. Lots of activities both days including threshing, lumber sawing, horseshoe tournament etc. for a complete list of activities see http://www.donnellythreshingbee.com/ check out Donnelly Threshing Bee fb page for updates. There will be 2 upcoming work nights at the grounds the first one is on Aug 23rd at 6:30 pm to set things up and again on Aug. 30th also at 6:30 pm to take things down. Help of any kind before, during or after the Bee is welcome.
