Weather news   looks like it is going to be a very hot weekend at the fair. All crops continue to look very lush & green

St. John’s Kongsvinger news: the parish will be leading services under the big top tent on the Threshing Bee grounds on Aug. 28^th @ 9 a.m.

There will be 140th anniversary celebration for Kongsvinger on Sept. 18^th  beginning with dedication of the remodeled church basement at 9:30 am followed by coffee hr., services with Holy Communion at 11 am followed by a potluck dinner followed by cupcakes and ice cream. God’s work our hands will be held on Sept. 11^th

Youth club mtg Aug. 17^th 4-6 pm at St John’s in Donnelly

Other church news: Grief Share will begin August 15 at the Morris Evangelical Free Church--Mondays 4-6 p.m.  There will be 13 weekly sessions.  Grief Share is open to anyone grieving the loss of someone close.  This group is sponsored by people who understand what you are experiencing and want to offer you comfort and encouragement during this difficult time.  This ministry has seen people come from all throughout the Morris area, from different church backgrounds, and various grief situations.  For more information contact the Grief Share facilitator, Neil Leroux 320-589-1788.

There will be a community worship service at the show arena at the Stevens County fair on Aug 14^th at 10 am with Sue Nelson as song leader and Rev Rochelle Anderson as pastor

Community news:  An open house will be held for Frances A. Van Zomeren to celebrate her 100th birthday today (Sat.) at the Morris Senior Center from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. All friends and relatives are invited. No gifts please

RUSC summer movie night Aug. 20^th starting at 8:30 pm at Eastside Park Morris

There will be an Open house bridal shower for Alisha Melberg bride to be of Kirby Sayles on Sept. 10^th from 9-11 am at Kongsvinger. She is the daughter of Jay, Penny Melberg

MHS class of 1961 will have their 55th class reunion on August 27th at Hotel 200 (old Prairie INN)

Celebrations Joseph Nelson & Shannon Griffen were wed on May 25^th in Minneapolis. His parents are Pastor Mike & Sue Nelson of Donnelly

Former Donnelly area residents Lloyd & Jan Anderson were named Stevens County farm family of the year at the Stevens County fair the  Kopel and Diehl farms of Donnelly were reconized as century farms Francis Diehl (Van Zomeren was reconized for having been born on the century farm

Morris fishing league results champs reef hawgs; members included Mac Beyer, Tyler Henrichs, Joel Beyer, slump busters 2^nd members included Ryan Smith Nancy Kisgen

The Threshing Bee royalty were part of the Flekkefest parade in Elbow Lake on Aug. 7^th

The threshing bee will be held on Aug. 27 & 28th Saturday activities start with a pancake breakfast at 7 am followed by softball tournament ,tractor parade ,kiddie parade antique tractor pull,  bean bag tournament, queen coronation and winding up with a dance at the Donnelly hall with Pure Country starting at 8 pm. There will be 2 upcoming work nights at the grounds the first one is on Aug 23^rd at 6:30 pm to set things up and again on Aug. 30^th also at 6:30 pm to take things down.
