hot muggy weekend produced some nasty weather Mon eve with thunder and
lightning and some have rains in the early morning hrs. on Tue. a.m., my
neighbors rain gage was overflowing at 4 “
St John’s/Kongsvinger news: ST.
John’s WELCA will meet on Tuesday, July 12, at 1:30 p.m. at St. John’s. Please
note the change of date!
July 17th services time will switch with
services at St. John’s Sundays at 9 am and WOW at Kongsvinger at 7 pm
There will be 140th anniversary celebration
for Kongsvinger in Sept.
There will be a youth club meeting on July 20th
at 4 pm at ST. John’s
Good Shepherd news: as part of their fundraiser for the
stork bus Alexandra’s Miracle Mission has a collection box at GS (and other
churches in the area) for Willie’s paper bags
Rob Lucus, the manager of
the Morris Pizza Ranch, has graciously given “Friends of Alex” permission to have lemonade and goodies stand
every Wednesday from 11am-1 pm in front of Pizza Ranch all summer long. So come
out and have a drink and goody and all of the money with help Alexandra's
Miracle Mission
Mi Mexico is donating 10% of
all sales on Saturday, July 16th plus donations to Options for Women | Morris
Stork Bus! A fun and tasty fundraiser to raise funds to benefit our local 6
county community! YUM!
Death notice: Elsie Lesmeister of Morris passed away on July 1st
survivors include her step daughter Judy Neuman of the Herman/Donnelly area
Community news: The
community club will meet on July 11 at 7 pm at the city hall as we continue to
make plans for the bee and other events
Starting on July 1st
and running through the 15th applications will be taken for
little Miss Donnelly (8-10) and Threshing Bee queen (14-18) applications can be
dropped off at boxes in HD & Co ,Donnelly Co-op or post office or email to werkcrew@runestone.net or lsdunn@runestone.net
There will be an Open house
bridal shower for Xochil Mendez, bride to be of Mac Beyer, on Saturday, July 16
from 10 a.m. to noon at Faith Lutheran Church in Morris. Parents of the couple
are Antonio and Maribel Mendez and Joel and Jamie Beyer. His Grandmother is Carol
Wilcox
The Samuel and Catherine
Smith family reunion is Saturday, July 16, 2016 in the main shelter at Pomme de
Terre City Park just East of Morris. Registration, coffee and rolls at 10:30
a.m., potluck at 12:30 p.m. and lots of reminiscing during the afternoon. BBQ
sandwiches, coffee, lemonade and utensils provided. Please bring a dish to
pass. The Smith's had 12 children... spread this invite to all branches of our
family tree. For more information call Marcia at 320-324-7414. Many of the
smiths from the Donnelly area are part of this family
The Threshing Bee royalty were part of the Heritage
Days parade in Starbuck on July 2nd and also attended the Miss Minnewaska
pageant in the park after the parade. They were also part of the 4th
of July parade in Hancock on July 4th
Celebrations Eugene Stoneburg was crowned king of the
Minnewaska home in Starbuck recently
The Morris Eagles recently won the Green Isle Hamburg
amateur bb tournament. Team members include Bryce Jergenson, Tyler Henrichs
& Mac Beyer. Bryce was named MVP of the tournament
John Ruff and his daughter Deb Goracke from TX spent some
time this week visiting his sister Lou Eystad and family & friends in the
area. He informs me he has great granddaughter due later this yr.

Evansville parade, 4th of July festivities at Kongsvinger and
Hancock
