Next edition: Oct 3rd -9th

Welcome to another edition of the Donnelly news

Weather news: summer like weather has continued during the past week, bean harvest is wrapping up and some farmers are starting to pick corn. Yields have been good so far from what I have heard and not much moisture.

St John’s/Kongsvinger news: there will be a special congregational meeting following services at both St. John’s (about noon) and Kongsvinger (about 9:30 a.m.) on Oct 4th for the purpose of issuing a call to a new pastor.

St John’s fall fest will be held on Oct 10th from 10:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. at the church

Good shepherd news: the family of Myron and Joan Bruer served coffee and cake after services at church on Sept. 27th in honor of their 60th aniv. Congratulations!!


There will be no Bible study on Oct 6th or 13th

Oct 4th is food shelf Sunday bring your items for the food shelf to the church that day

Other church news: On Oct 4th Pastor Dean Mandla Ndwande, the Dean of the Eshowe Circuit of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Southern Africa will be preaching at Trinity Lutheran Cyrus at 9:30 a.m.

Glacial Ridge Conference WELCA gathering will be held on Oct. 5th at Our Saviors Lutheran church Chokio starting with registration at 4:30 p.m. followed by supper. Tickets are available at the door, Pastor Dean Mandla Ndwande, the Dean of the Eshowe Circuit of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Southern Africa and staff member Gift Shobede will be in attendance; the speaker will be Harvey Nelson “being companions with the South Africa synod”

FALL BAZAAR, Zion Lutheran Church, 315 S Columbia Ave, Morris from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Oct. 10th

Family fall dinner at UM Herman Oct 11th from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m.

Community news: Options for women respect life banquet on Oct. 4th at the Morris evangelical Free Church on Oct 4th starting with seating and silent auction at 4:30 p.m. dinner starts at 5:30 p.m. The speaker will be Kim Padan. She will also be speaking at Assumption church –Morris at 3:30 p.m. today (Sat.)

There will be a card shower for Clearance Giese in honor of his 95th birthday on Oct 10th. The address is 23115 469th ave. Morris MN 56267

The city council and rendsville 4-h will meet on Oct. 5th at 7 p.m. at St. John’s church and the community hall in Donnelly

The Donnelly community club will meet on Oct 12th at 7 p.m. at the town hall

The semi -annual vendor sale will be going on at the Donnelly hall on Oct 10th from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Pumpkin days at the Rockin C Ranch located at 59312 150th St, Donnelly on Oct 17th from 10 a.m. -4 p.m. tickets available at the gate. On the same day there will also be an open house at the Big Red Barn Relics located at 54678 130th St. Donnelly from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

An open house honoring Carol Sperr's 80th birthday will be given by her family today (Sat.) from 1 to 4 p.m. at West Pomme Lodge. No gifts please.

The Morris area school board will meet on Oct. 19th at 7 p.m. at the Donnelly Hall

Death notices former Donnelly area resident Joan (Erdahl) Fjoslien of Alex passed away on Sept. 27th. She was a very good friend and I will miss her very much. I often consulted with her when I needed some info for my column and/or about Donnelly.

Celebrations Girls Tiger CC –Milaca meet tigers (4th); Savannah Aanerud (25th), Becca Holland (142); boys 9th grade 5 k Kellen Erdahl (325th); Ortonville invite tiger girls first; savannah (2nd) Becca (10th)

At the Roy Griak Invitational in Minneapolis McKenzie Smith of Msu-Morehead finished in 13th place

 Amy Searle finished 6th in the national futurity non pro-western pleasure w/J (horse show)

The threshing bee royalty were part of the homecoming parade in Morris on Sept. 25th
