donnelly news

Welcome to another edition of the Donnelly news
Weather news last week was very hot and humid it has cooled off this week, as I write this on Tue evening, it has rained most of the day crops continue to look really good, most of the garden produce on display at the Morris fair looked fantastic too.
St John’s/Kongsvinger news: Summer worship schedule ends on Aug. 23rd (Kongsvinger) and Aug 26th (St John’s), the parish will be leading the services under the big top tent on the threshing bee grounds on Aug.29th. Kongsvinger will once again be serving meals in the steel building, St. John’s will have their sweet shop and the parish youth will again have the “pop shack”
Good shepherd Lutheran church news: there will be a welcome for intern Angel Scott and her family on Aug. 30th at the church. She will be serving part time at St John’s- Starbuck and Good shepherd-Morris

Other church news: St Charles (St. Theresia) –Herman will once again be manning the hamburger stand at the threshing bee this year
Feed my starving children packing event at the MAES on Sept 1st & 2nd
Community news: rocking c ranch of Donnelly (59312 150th st) will have events at the ranch (i.e. pony rides) on Aug. 29th from 10 am-4 pm tickets available at the gate, $1 discount with a bee button

Death notice: Joseph Fayette Jipson, of Breckenridge passed away on Aug12th, survivors include his sister former Donnelly area resident Linda (Cliff) Hatlestad of Morris
The 50th annual Donnelly threshing bee is August. 29 and 30th; Posters are up in the area, and advance sale buttons are for sale at Donnelly business and at Dacotah bank in Chokio and Morris. Save yourself a dollar by buying in advance. The schoolhouse this year will feature Donnelly memorabilia ,and work lists have been mailed out, if you are not on a committee and would like to be call 246- 3337.
There will be two work nights on the threshing bee grounds first one on Aug.25th to set things up, and the 2nd one on Sept 1st to take things down both at 6:30 pm .A reminder that any help before, during, or after the Bee is welcome
Our features this year are ih/Farmall and anything made in 1965, next year it will be John Deere.

 On Sun a.m. events begin an open air church service at 9 am continues with the classic car show, the parade, horse/pony pull, & concludes with a cash drawing.
Lots of activities both days including lumber sawing, horseshoe tournament, shingle making etc. and of course threshing .Anyone is welcome to bring a display, do a demonstration, play, sing, etc.
The parade committee is looking for people who were born, married, graduated etc. in’65 as well as any tractors machinery, cars etc. made during that year to be in the parade on August 30th
I assume there will be some rummage sales and other events around town during the weekend too
Tractor pullers ,classic car show entries, demonstrators, exhibitors etc. are asked to use the south gate; no bikes or dogs (except service dogs) allowed on grounds; golf carts, atv’s etc. must be registered at the depot prior to use on the grounds, I do plan to have my cart up there for use by handicapped individuals.
There is an addition to the schedule for the bee; there will be a community meal on Fri evening August 28th, beginning at 5 pm on the grounds under the big top tent. On the menu is a polled pork bbq sandwich, beans, salad, and bars. After supper there will be some tractor games on the grounds. You must have a button to get into the grounds; tickets for the meal will be available under the big top tent.
The final parade for the threshing bee royalty was in Hoffman on August 16th 
The Morris high school of 1955 will have their 60th class reunion on August 26th-28th at Hotel 200 (prairie) inn in Morris; some of the Donnelly kids will be attending the threshing bee that weekend

Celebrations: Congratulations to Rebekah Aanerud on being a National Finalist in her Agricultural Communications Proficiency Award (FFA)
On May 13th Zachary Giese of Donnelly received a diploma in marine and small engine mechanic from Alex tech
Morris eagles region 9 c amateur bb champs; Bryce Jergenson, Tyler Henrichs are members of that team
Tyler Busse of Appleton was a double winner (small car and small car modified.) in the demo derby in Morris
Jacob Wayne Summer was born on Aug. 13th to Ben & Brianna Summer of Garfield mn grandparents are Scott & Judy Neuman of Herman. Brianna is a former threshing bee queen
Bill and Mary (Olson) Dripps celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary on Aug 19th
Aug 15th Mark Koepke and I traveled to Gardner ND for the funeral of his uncle Willie Lindgren. It was as an opportunity for me to put faces to the names of many of his family members we have talked about since he moved here.
Past wk. bbb at old # 1 Southside, St. co fair in Morris, Hoffman harvest festival, Whittemore funeral in Donnelly, visited my aunt Pearl A. Anderson in her apt. Mary Dripps at the WWV, freedom rally in elbow Lake
