Weather news: after a
very hot weekend it has moderated some this week, in my travels over the
weekend I did see some grain being harvested, we could use some rain, lot of
irrigation going on. I see the grain for the threshing bee has been shocked and
loaded onto racks
St John’s/Kongsvinger news: 4 part JOINT PARISH BIBLE STUDY
ON ACTS continues on August 10th at St. John’s and Aug. 17th at
Kongsvinger at 7 p.m. Bring your own Bible.
Summer worship schedule ends on Aug. 23rd

The parish will again be leading the community worship
service under the big top tent at the threshing bee on Aug 30th

starving children packing event retuning to Morris in Sept. contact Robin Smith

Grief share a weekly program for those dealing with the loss
of someone close to them will be held on Mon evenings at 7 P.m. starting on
Aug. 17th and continuing for the next 13 weeks at the Morris Evangelical
Free Church; ph. 589-2808 for more info
Community news: the firemen and the Donnelly community club
will have meetings on Aug 10th at 7p.m. at fire hall and community
club
An open house bridal shower for Becca Ellsworth, bride to be
of Dexter Hormann, is planned for Saturday, Aug. 15 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at
the Morris Senior Center. Dexter is the son of Leila and Dean Hormann.

Celebrations: More grant county fair results: 5 k run Rebekah
Aanerud took first place in the women’s division: in the creative arts building
Fred Speer, Barb Simpson and Janet Olson all won grand and reserve champion in canning;
Janet also won reserve champion for a repurposed item Yvonne
Kloos won reserve champion for landscaping painting and in canning; she also
won a mixer for her “baking with yeast” entry, Denise Derby won reserve
champion in Christmas misc. Bryce Lehman
won the 7 yr. old division in the kiddie tr. Pull
Riley biesterfeld was named to the legion district 7 all –district
bb team
The threshing bee is August. 29 and 30th; for

the area, and advance sale buttons are for sale now from the officers, and will
be for sale at Donnelly business soon. Save yourself a dollar by buying in
advance. The schoolhouse this year will feature Donnelly memorabilia ,work
lists will be mailed out soon, if you are not on a committee and would like to
be call 246- 3337. A reminder that any help before, during, or after the Bee is
welcome.
Activities begin on Sat a.m. with a pancake breakfast
starting at 7 a.m. in the steel building continues throughout the day and
concludes with the queen coronation and a dance at the hall featuring Pure
Country. Sun starts with an open air church service, and concludes with a cash
drawing.

The threshing bee Royalty were part of the Flekkefest parade
in Elbow Lake on Aug 1st
The candidates for threshing bee Royalty were announced on
July 27th. Little Miss Donnelly candidates are Amya Raths her parents are Scott
and Jaclyn Raths, grandparents are Deb and Howard Kill, great grandparents are
Geshien Kill and Rose Uhden, Tabitha Van Horn parents Josh and Beth Keifer and
the late Curtis Van horn, grandparents are Cole and Marlene Van Horn, Sharon Van Horn; Jeff and Cindy
Gulbrandson, great grandmother is Arlene Gulbrandson, queen candidates are
Savannah Aanerud her parents are Andy and Heather ,grandparents are Jim and
Loraine; Cheyenne Baumgart her parents
are Scott and Jodi Arndt.
The Morris high school of 1955 will have their 60th
class reunion on August 26th-28th at Hotel 200 (prairie)
inn in Morris
I did not get out to the rockin C ranch for their open house
so I stopped out there Sun. aft. En-route home from Herman to take a look around,
he is open every day but please call ahead if you plan on coming out. He talked
about having something going on out there during the threshing bee and some
kind of pumpkin event in Oct.

school reunion activities and Inglof urke memorial service in Benson his sister
is a good friend of mine.
