Weather news: a very
timely rain shower over the weekend was very welcome; otherwise it has
continued to be sunny & mild
St John’s/Kongsvinger news: 4 part joint parish bible study
on Acts continues on Aug. 17th at Kongsvinger and August 24th at St.
John’s at 7 pm Bring your own Bible.
Summer worship schedule ends on Aug. 23rd
(Kongsvinger) and Aug 26th (St John’s)
At the recent relay for life the Kongsvinger Krusaders
earned the silver team award for their fund raising efforts
Other church news Grief share a weekly program for those
dealing with the loss of someone close to them will be held on Monday evenings
at 7 Pm starting on Aug. 17th and continuing for the next 13 weeks at
the Morris Evangelical Free Church; ph. 589-2808 for more info
Feed my starving children fundraiser at the pizza ranch on
Aug. 17th from 5-8 pm
Community news: On August 17th the bookmobile
will be in town at 3:30 pm on main St. and the firemen will have a meeting at 7
pm at fire hall
An open house bridal shower for Becca Ellsworth, bride to be
of Dexter Hormann, is planned for today (Saturday) from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at
the Morris Senior Center.
Death notices: Willis Lindgren of Gardner ND passed away Aug.
10th; survivors include his nephew, former Donnelly resident Mark
Koepke of Morris
Dave Whittemore of Donnelly passed away on Aug 9th;
he was a long time Donnelly co-op employee
David Kroc of Barrett passed away on Aug 6th
survivors include his step daughter Angie (Merlyn) Schwartz of Donnelly
Celebrations: The 50th annual Donnelly threshing
bee is August. 29 and 30th; for more info and an up to date schedule

the area, and advance sale buttons are for sale now from the officers, and will
be for sale at Donnelly business soon. Save yourself a dollar by buying in
advance. The schoolhouse this year will feature Donnelly memorabilia ,work
lists have been mailed out, if you are not on a committee and would like to be
call 246- 3337.
Our features this year are ih/Farmall and anything made in
1965, next year it will be John Deere.
There will be two work nights on Aug.25th to set
things up and on Sept 1st to take things down both at 6:30 pm .A
reminder that any help before, during, or after the Bee is welcome.
Activities begin on Sat a.m. with a pancake breakfast
starting at 7 am continuing with a kiddie parade & tractor pull, big
tractor pull, sb tournament, and ending with the queen coronation and a dance
by pure country at the hall
Lots of activities both days including lumber sawing,
horseshoe tournament shingle making etc. and of course threshing anyone is
welcome to bring a display do a demonstration, play sing etc.
The parade committee is looking for people who were born,
married, graduated etc. in’65 as well as any tractors machinery, cars etc. made
during that year to be in the parade on August 30th
Another lengthy community club meeting was held on August
10th as we put the finishing touches on the plans for the bee. We made an
addition to the schedule; there will be a community meal on Fri evening
beginning at 5 pm on the grounds under the big top tent. On the menu is a
polled pork sandwich, beans, salad, and bars. After supper there will be some
tractor games on the grounds. You must have a button to get into the grounds;
tickets for the supper will be available at the supper. I drove by the grounds
Mon. eve. I see some people have put a lot of time & work into painting and
sprucing up the pop shack, the shirt shack and St. John’s sweet shop.
The Morris high school of 1955 will have their 60th
class reunion on August 26th-28th at Hotel 200 (prairie)
inn in Morris; some of the Donnelly kids will be attending the threshing bee
that weekend
On Aug. 17th the bloodmobile will be at Faith
Lutheran Morris from 1-7 pm
Extra The parish will again be leading the
community worship service under the big top tent at the threshing bee on Aug
30th at 9 am St John’s will again have their “sweet shop” and Kongsvinger ladies
will again be serving noon dinners in the steel building and the parish youth
will have the “pop shack” again.
