Welcome to another edition of the Donnelly news
Weather news well this week has been cool and windy, crops
continue to look good and some of the produce at the Appleton fair looked
fantastic.
St John’s/Kongsvinger news: the parish will be leading the
services under the big top tent on the threshing bee grounds on Aug.30th. There
will be joint services at 9 a.m. on Sept 7th at St John’s. The August
23rd service will be broadcast on Aug. 30th on KMRS 1230 AM at 11 a.m.
or on the web
Kongsvinger will once again be serving meals in the steel
building, St. John’s will have their sweet shop and the parish youth will again
have the “pop shack” at the bee
Good shepherd Lutheran church news: there will be a welcome potluck
dinner for intern Angel Scott and her family on Aug. 30th at the church. She
will be serving part time at St John’s- Starbuck and Good shepherd-Morris. Gladys Mungo, director of Haiti's Children Inc.;
which is recipient of Sept. tithe; will also be present to talk about the org.
Other church news: St Charles (St. Theresia) –Herman will
once again be manning the hamburger stand at the threshing bee this weekend
Feed my starving children packing event is returning to the
MAES on Sept 1st and 2nd more info call the Morris E Free Church at
589-2808
Community news: some none- bee events this weekend including
open house at rocking c ranch of Donnelly (59312 150th st) today (Saturday) from
10 a.m.-4 p.m. tickets available at the gate, $1 discount with a bee button and
events at the place to be today (Saturday) include a bike ride leaving at 11:30
a.m. and returning about 4 p.m. for some fun and games with dj Durke playing
and some rummage sales

healing on August 31st @ 5 30 p.m. at Pomme de terre park Main Shelter .Food

of Morris passed away on Aug. 20th
Merle Mathieson of Pequot lakes passed away on Aug 19th
survivors include his niece Deb (Mark) Erickson and family of Donnelly.
The 50th annual Donnelly threshing bee or as we refer to it
our family reunion is this weekend. Events start at 7 a.m. today (Sat.) with a
pancake breakfast continues with events though out the day and concludes with a
dance at the hall with pure country. Sun starts with an open air church service
and concludes with cash drawing in the aft. Lots of activities both days
horseshoe tournament, sawing, threshing etc. and many display and demonstrations
on the grounds and in the school house and depot. Anyone is welcome to bring a
display, do a demonstration, play, sing, etc.
There will be a work night on the threshing bee grounds on Sept
1st to take things down at 6:30 p.m. A reminder that any help during, or after
the Bee is welcome
Our features this year are IH/Farmall and anything made in
1965, next year it will be John Deere.
The parade committee is looking for people who were born,
married, graduated etc. in ’65 as well as any tractors, machinery, cars etc.
made during that year to be in the parade on August 30th all you
need do is show up Sun. aft and they will find a spot for you
Tractor pullers ,classic car show entries, demonstrators,
exhibitors etc. are asked to use the south gate; no bikes or dogs (except
service dogs) allowed on grounds; golf carts, atv’s etc. must be registered at
the depot prior to use on the grounds, I do have my cart up there for use by
handicapped individuals.
The HQ is the depot so if you need any help, info etc. just
stop in and talk to whoever is behind the desk the ph. # for the depot is

Weather news last week was very hot and humid it has cooled
off this week, as I write this on Tue evening, it has rained most of the day
crops continue to look really good, most of the garden produce on display at
the Morris fair looked fantastic too.

during that year to be in the parade on August 30th

grounds. You must have a button to get into the grounds; tickets for the meal
will be available under the big top tent.
The final parade for the threshing bee royalty was in
Hoffman on August 16th
The Morris high school of 1955 will have their 60th
class reunion on August 26th-28th at Hotel 200 (prairie)
inn in Morris; some of the Donnelly kids will be attending the threshing bee
that weekend

Aug 15th Mark Koepke and I traveled to Gardner ND
for the funeral of his uncle Willie Lindgren. It was as an opportunity for me
to put faces to the names of many of his family members we have talked about
since he moved here.

At the recent relay for life the Kongsvinger Krusaders
earned the silver team award for their fund raising efforts

10th as we put the finishing touches on the plans for the bee. We made an
addition to the schedule; there will be a community meal on Fri evening
beginning at 5 pm on the grounds under the big top tent. On the menu is a

tractor games on the grounds. You must have a button to get into the grounds;
tickets for the supper will be available at the supper. I drove by the grounds
Mon. eve. I see some people have put a lot of time & work into painting and
sprucing up the pop shack, the shirt shack and St. John’s sweet shop.

Weather news: after a
very hot weekend it has moderated some this week, in my travels over the
weekend I did see some grain being harvested, we could use some rain, lot of
irrigation going on. I see the grain for the threshing bee has been shocked and
loaded onto racks

Aanerud took first place in the women’s division: in the creative arts building

won a mixer for her “baking with yeast” entry, Denise Derby won reserve

The threshing bee Royalty were part of the Flekkefest parade
in Elbow Lake on Aug 1st
The candidates for threshing bee Royalty were announced on
July 27th. Little Miss Donnelly candidates are Amya Raths her parents are Scott
and Jaclyn Raths, grandparents are Deb and Howard Kill, great grandparents are
Geshien Kill and Rose Uhden, Tabitha Van Horn parents Josh and Beth Keifer and
the late Curtis Van horn, grandparents are Cole and Marlene Van Horn, Sharon Van Horn; Jeff and Cindy
Gulbrandson, great grandmother is Arlene Gulbrandson, queen candidates are
Savannah Aanerud her parents are Andy and Heather ,grandparents are Jim and

I did not get out to the rockin C ranch for their open house
so I stopped out there Sun. aft. En-route home from Herman to take a look around,
he is open every day but please call ahead if you plan on coming out. He talked
about having something going on out there during the threshing bee and some
kind of pumpkin event in Oct.
