donnelly news

Welcome to another edition of the Donnelly news;

Corrections: Corrections: Rev A.J. Kluver and I traveled to Perham on May 10th and Wally McCollar received a 20 gallon from the bloodmobile

Weather news: for the first time this spring we have had multiple days of sunny warm weather. Personally I still have not seen much in the way of fieldwork yet or even a lot of evidence of it, saw a lot of untouched fields in my trip to and from Donnelly on Tue.

In St. John’s/ Kongsvinger news: The summer worship schedule with weekly joint services at 9 a.m. alternating between the churches  starts on May 25th at St. John’s and continues at Kongsvinger on June 1st, 8th, 15th and 22nd  See the May newsletter for the complete schedule.     
Bible study resumes after services on June 1st at the host church  
        
There will be a spring cleanup at Kongsvinger on May 28th at 9 a.m.

Good Shepherd news. There will be a 75th birthday party for Chuck Spohr (Pr. Mike’s father in law) on May 25th from 2:30-5 p.m. at the Morris senior center. No gifts please.
Other church news: There will be a community vacation bible school on June 23-26th co- sponsored by Good Shepherd and Zion-Morris at Zion with staff from Lutheran Island bible camp –Henning leading the activities. Everyone is welcome 
Fund raising is under way for the “feed my starving children” packing event which will return to Morris again this year in August. Contact the Morris e Free church for more info.

Community news: The next community mentoring program is June 12th at 7 p.m. at the Morris area elementary cafeteria.
There will be a graduation open house in honor of Beth Holland on Monday, May 26, from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Old No. 1 Southside. Everyone is welcome.

Brittany Cardwell was one of two tiger trap shooters on the Top 25 Female Members list in the Class AAAA-Conference 3 at the end of week three with a 23
The Tiger softball team won the west central north championship, Becca Holland is a member of that team.
Carter Fults is one of the beneficiaries of the Tuff luck fun run on June 7th. “The place to be” in Donnelly is one of the stops; the Headquarters for the event is the Herman bar and grill.  More info 287-0983 or 701-306-7183
Former Donnelly area resident, Alice (Devick) Hallman of Morris passed away on May 18th. Several of us from the Donnelly area were among those who attended her funeral at the Pedersen funeral home on May 22nd.
Ag country scholarship winner is Rebekah Aanerud; Carly Gullickson was named a recipient of a 2014 Road to Success Scholarship from Bremer Insurance of Morris and Grinnell Mutual Reinsurance Company of Grinnell, Iowa.
The Morris –Benson area storm squirts hockey team won first place at the MN. Hockey showcase held recently, Brady Loge was a member of that team, his dad Ryan was a coach.
Business professionals of America ambassador torch bearers were Dalton Lupke and Carly Gullickson

Isabelle Eve Marlow was born on May 5, at Stevens Community Medical Center, Morris, to Matt Marlow and Tracy Hagen of Chokio. Grandparents are Bud and Carol Marlow of Chokio, Janet Hagen and former Donnelly area resident Gary Ritzschke of Kensington
Tiger track at the west central conference meet the girls placed second, the boys third; Rebecca and Savanah Aanerud, Kortney Geise and Beth Holland are members of that team who finished in the top ten individually and/or as members of relay teams, in the   boys Dalton Lupke was a member of 4x800 that finished ninth.
May 22nd I was one of the guests of Wally McCollar at Buddies Bar and Grill in Hancock for a surprise 87th birthday party for Helen Peterson of Hancock.
I plan to recognize Donnelly area graduates in a future column if you have one you please let me know especially if it a post -h.s graduate. Also let me know about any upcoming open houses.



Every so often I stop into McCollar Jewelry to visit with Wally for a while one of the things he tells me is that he is planning on putting together a 60th class reunion for the MHS class of ’55 next year so if you are a member of the class or know somebody from there be sure to keep that in mind.



Some of the events I attended in the past week in the area include open houses at Valu Ford, SCMC, Amundon Peterson, the “buck of cancer” horse show at fairgrounds; Logan benefit, GSLC SS picnic, visitation and funeral for Vern Krupke, EMT open house at the ambulance garage, and the Kummrow benefit.
