donnelly news

Welcome to another edition of the Donnelly news; Mark and I want to wish our mom’s a happy mother day in heaven
Weather news: we had a really nice day on Monday otherwise it is has been cool. I understand some farmers have been out doing some planting but I have not personally seen anybody actually in the field.
In St. John’s/ Kongsvinger news:  Baccalaureate Sunday on May 18th, at 9 a.m., at Kongsvinger followed by a recognize Bruch. If you have a graduate this year please let the parish office know ASAP
There will be joint services all summer at 9 a.m., alternating between St. John’s and Kongsvinger. The complete schedule is included in the May newsletter.
Good Shepherd news. The youth will be serving breakfast and have a bake sale on May 11th to raise money for their trip to Montana this summer. The May coffee money will also go to help defray their expenses.
The May newsletter is now out; extra copies are available in the back of the church.
Other church news: may 10th 11th, 14th, 17th are the dates for the new wine dessert theater at first Lutheran. Dessert at 6 p.m. shows at 7 p.m. tickets available at either first or faith Lutheran churches.
Community news: There will be an open house bridal shower in honor of Chelsea Ringler today (Saturday) May 10th, from 10 a.m. to noon at the Morris Senior Citizen Center.
Later this month there will be all town garage sales around Donnelly  
On May 12th bookmobile is in town at 3:30 p.m. the firemen and the Community club meet at 7 p.m., at the fire and community halls, in Donnelly
Beatrice J. Hansen of Barrett passed away on April 30th a niece former Donnelly resident Sheila Shultz is among the local survivors.  Irene Strand was among those who attended her funeral at Peace Lutheran in Barrett on May 5th.
Graveside services for Cathy Elgin will be held at 11 a.m. on May 17th at Calvary cemetery in Morris, she passed away on Jan. 17th.
David Guse, son of Jim and Colleen Neal of Alberta formerly of
Donnelly and Allan and Kathy Guse of Ortonville, is to marry Nicole Pederson, daughter of Diane Pederson of Chokio. A celebration will take place on June 21, 2014 in Alberta. David and Nicole reside in Elbow Lake with their three children.
Other celebrations: Wally McCollar recently received his 10 gallon pin from the American Red Cross for his blood donations over the years. 

FFA officers for 2014-2015 include Jonna Moser secretary and Becca Holland sentential; award winners at their annual banquet include Beth and Tom Holland, Rebekah Aanerud, and Jonna Moser
Donnelly area kids on 4-h project bowl teams at the state were: Jr. 2 (Justen Moser) (8th); sr. (Jonna Moser) (8th); sr. horse (Rebekah and Savannah Aanerud) (8th)   and Jr. 1 coached by Jon Moser (7th)
Tiger girls track team 1st at Sisseton, 5th in true team at Morris; Kourtney Geise, Beth Holland, Rebekah and Savannah Aanerud are members of that team and finished in the top ten in individual events and/or members of the relay team at both events with several achieving personal bests The boys finished 2nd in Sisseton and 6th at true team, Levin strand is a member of the 4x100 relay team that finished 5th (s) and 6th (M)
April 30th Lois Johnson, Joan and Jerry Kopacek were among the guests who dined with Ken Cline at the Fergus Falls VA Home. Later they assisted with the Bingo game sponsored by VFW Aux# 5039.
April 25th I visited my aunt Pearl in her apt. to express my sympathy at the death of her daughter Nancy. Mark visited her on April 29th later he, Pearl and Peggy Wishnack attended services there with Rev Miller as preacher.

 Past week the Stevens county genealogical society had a meeting at West wind village, many  of us from the area attended the stahn sale by Donnelly, and the Volker visitation at Pedersen funeral home, I attended the life song concert at the Elementary school concert hall; the “witness” worship drama at Living word Lutheran church –Alexandria ,visited a friend at the Bethany home in Alexandria, attended the visitation and funeral for Laura Carrington  visited friends at heritage apartments in Morris, and Mark and I helped out with NAPS. At the Volker visitation I had an opportunity to see two former Donnelly area residents I had not seen for a while Elroy Frank and Alan Werk
Dorothy Hilla called me to tell me she is having a moving sale staring on May 8th  at 1 p.m. continuing on May 9th, and 10th at 9 a.m. 306 e 6th St. Donnelly 246-3339
