donnelly news


I had to make some major last minute revisions to this after I found the paper would not include Holly week services  I gather since it is advertised in the paper

Welcome to another edition of the Donnelly news
Weather news: we had a snowstorm late Thursday/ early Friday that brought more snow and ice to the area causing most schools the area to close. The weather was fairly decent on Friday, Saturday and most of Sunday but enroute home from Herman on Sunday evening it was starting to blow and drift again and by Monday we had a full blown blizzard on our hands, so most schools and other events were canceled and/or postponed again. Tuesday it was time to put the snow removal equipment back to work.  Many thanks to my house guest for shoveling me out again.
ST John’s/Kongsvinger News: joint services at Kongsvinger at 11 a.m., with Holy Communion, and the Sunday school kids will be singing on March 24th; March 31st services at 8:30 a.m., at ST John’s, and at 11 a.m. at Kongsvinger, no Sunday school.
There will be an Easter lily garden at both churches again this year contact the parish office at 246-3211 for more information about that
Good Shepherd news: Palm Sunday services on March 24th Palm, Easter Sunday services at 9 a.m. with the choir singing, followed by an Easter brunch.  
Check the paper for details about Holly week services at these and other churches in the areae church or the good shphered  serivces re about people around here that I do.

Good Shepherd will be ordering flowers (lilies, tulips, bulb garden, and mums) to place in front of the sanctuary on Easter Sunday. Contact Clarice Dieter cdieter@fedtel.net for more info there will also be forms on the back table of the church.
Other church news: A true women conference will be held at the Morris Evangelical Free Church on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month
This and that sale at the federated church today (Saturday) from 9 a.m-12:30 pm
Community news Kurt Kruize memorial scholarship dinner at Hancock community center today (Saturday) from 3-7 p.m. free will donations
Rod and gun club annual meeting on April 2nd at 6:30 pm at the Donnelly hall
The bookmobile will be in town on Apr 1st at 3:30 p.m. the city council and rendsville 4-h will meet at the fire hall and town hall at 7 pm
Bentley Jo Werner was born on January 16th to Brian and Kristi Werner.  Grandparents are Al and Janice Werner of Lamberton, Tom and Kelly Claassen of Chokio, and Dan and Jeanne Koehntop of Donnelly great grandmother is Lois Koehntop of Donnelly
Jesse Vara (vilem and Laurie) recently became an Eagle Scout grandparents are warren and Linda Vara
Viking speedway award winners in 2012 super stock: Alan Johnson, Matt Miller, Jeff Flaten.

March 14th Mark Koepke and I visited Bill Underwood in the Morris hospital he was able to return to the west wing village on Friday.
March 15th Chester Larson and I were among those who attended the open house and dinner at Pederson’s Agri serv and the open house at Larson’s Farm supply in Herman. Later that afternoon the Kopacek family and I attended the ST Patricks’ day party at the west wing village in Morris. Afterwards I visited some of the residents there. Ellen wilts was one of the exhibitors at the KMRS spring expo at the Lee center that many of us from the area attended on March 15th and 16th
Jim and Lou Eystad and I attended Lenten services on March 13th and 20th and services on March 17th at Good shepherd and on the evening of the 17th the sing a long at the Eden reformed church in Herman. After services at good shepherd they also attended the adult forum by Ken Eardlson from Lutheran bible camp by Henning. Mark Koepke and I attended services at Kongsvinger and then went to the pancake breakfast at St John’s afterwards
Barry and Nancy Erdahl were among the lions that helped serve their annual pancake breakfast at the Lee center of March 16th.  In the aft Courtney Lehman was one of the “just for kix’s” dancers who performed during the 2nd day of the expo  In the eve Mark Koepke and I attended the pork producer’s supper at the old # 1 Southside
for those of you who have been wondering about Mark Koepke he just signed a lease on a new apartment in Morris I will have more info in the future in meantime call him here.
