donnelly news

Next edition June 23rd-29th Welcome to another edition of the of the Donnelly news. A reminder that I have changed the deadlines for my “mailboxes” in Donnelly from Tue eve to Mon noon. Weather news: most of the days have been sunny and mild however several nights have featured some nasty thunderstorms fortunately it has not produced anything other than some heavy rain showers around here. Crops continue to look very good esp. the cornfield by GS. STJ/KONG News: there will be joint services at Kong on June 24th @ 8:30 am note this is a change from what was announced earlier. Service times will switch on July 1st St J at 8:30am, Kong at 10:15 am. The fall schedule will resume in Sept. There will be a 4th of July celebration at Kong beginning with a flag- raising at 11 am; followed by a pot luck dinner (ice cream, bread and beverages provided) come and reflect on the day. Bruce Kyle Erdahl (Aaron and Kayla) was baptized at Kong on June 17th GSLC news: the July coffee money will go to Life right prison ministry The all state Lutheran choir will continue to travel throughout MN until the 27th. New wine homecoming concert on June 25th at 8 pm at First Lutheran Ice cream social St J (Starbuck) June 25th 11:30-2:00 pm June 24th From now until July 31, the Donnelly Threshing Bee Royalty Committee will be taking nominations for girls to run for our 2012 Threshing Bee Royalty. Nominations can be placed in bins that are up in Donnelly or via phone. For more information or call Sandy Dunn at 246-3292. Also if you are a past royalty or a family member of one and you have some pictures please let Sandy know June 28th and July 12th will be the final two games of ladies sb games in Donnelly at 7 pm there are also many Donnelly area kids and/or adults who are players or coaches of the many sb and bb teams playing games in Morris. The bookmobile will be in town at 3:30 pm on June 25th A memorial service for Esther Pasche will be held on June 30th at 11 am at ST Paul’s Lutheran church in Morris, I was among those who attended her visitation on June 16th at the funeral home there will be two showers in our parish on June 30th; the first is an open house baby shower for Charles and Amanda (Greiner) Moser from 2-4 pm at ST J, her parents are Greg and Dona Greiner, step grandparents are Rollie and Jan Greiner, they are expecting twins the 2nd is an open house bridal shower for Corin Zapf bride to be of Tyler Ascheman at the Kong parish hall on from 1-3 pm. His parents are Larry and Peggy Ascheman; step grandmother is Liz Ascheman. Keason Cihak was born to Mike and Jen Cihak on June 9th. Her sister Amanda and her husband Josh Anderson had a baby May 13th Grandparents are Glen and Judy Heinrichs The fmsc packing event will return to Morris again this year Aug. 28-30th. they are in the process of raising funds for this events donations can be sent to Tammy Sperr c/o the Morris e free church. Brandon Jergenson and Miranda Papesh received perfect attendance awards at MAES The following Donnelly area students were among those who were named spring athletes of the week; Megan Mecklenburg and Oliva Reimers sb, Tyler Heinrichs and Tom Holland bb, Beth Holland and Rebekah Aanerud track and field. Tom was also named to the west central tribune all area bb team Congratulations to Rhoda (Mike) Smith who recently became the new director of the Morris area chamber. I also recently learned that Tom Kloos is working for Detoy’s and Patrick Janachovsky for Mobiz. Kellie Wilts was a member of the 400 meter relay team that won 2nd place in a Hershey’s track meet in Morris recently Jim and Lou Eystad attended the funeral for Clarice J. Yerigan at First Lutheran on June 16th and in the aft the Eystad family reunion at Pomme De Park in Morris Good crowds were on hand on June 14th for the fed-tel annual meeting at the MAES (thanks to CNE for the gift card I won there) and at Eastside Park for the Kiwanis talent contest. Syd Beyer was a member of a dance group called “Thunder” which won first place. The DFD was among the units in the 125th anniversary parade in Wheaton on June 17th. I also had an opportunity visit with former Donnelly area resident Rollo Mau before the parade. The threshing bee royalty were in the Keng parade Steve Fults and I were among those who attended the Westrom/Dutcher fundraising picnic at Eastside Park on June 18th and later the ice cream social at the Donnelly hall on June 18th. Thanks to the Rendsville 4-h for making all the delicious pies and the royalty for helping serve the ice cream. After the social the community club had their monthly meeting as we continue to make plans for the threshing bee. Advance sale buttons are now on sale in various Donnelly business and all UFMSB locations (they will cost more at the gate). The theme this year is “the bee something for everyone.” We are looking for people willing to be charge of the kiddie parade and the white elephant sale and of course help of any kind by anybody before, during, and after the bee is always welcome. Next year’s feature will be gas engines. The next meeting will be held on July 9th.
