DONNELLY NEWS

Next edition Dec 4th- 10th
Welcome to another edition of the Donnelly news
Weather news with the exception of some bad weather on wed eve resulting in the cancellation of the parish thanksgiving service the rest of the thanksgiving weekend was unseasonably nice but winter came roaring back with snow and stormy conditions on Mon and Tue. And another storm is forecast for this weekend.

STJ/KONG PARISH NEWS: Parish bible study “I wonder as I wander” will conclude on Dec 9th. Studies will be at St J from 10:30 am ---11:30 am and at Kong from 7-8 pm.
There will be a Christmas carol sing a long at St J on Dec 5th beginning at 4:30 pm with a light lunch following
There will be a red poinsettia garden in the parish this year at Christmas services. If you would like to order one please call the parish office at 246-3211 by Dec 18th.
The parish will again have a hat /mitten tree in the back of both churches. Hats and mittens will be collected until Dec 12th and donated to the Salvation Army
Kong will again once again hold its annual Christmas card club. To participate, you may give your donation to Florentine Erickson or bertha Larson
The Dec parish newsletter is now out extra copies are available in the narthex of ea. church.
Pederson funeral home “a time to remember” will be held at the funeral home on Dec 12th at 4 pm please rsvp at 589-3220 by Dec 8th
A piano recital by Luke Fiskness to benefit local charities will be held at Maes concert hall on Dec 12th at 6:30 pm. This event is sponsored by Thrivent and there will be a free will offering to benefit the food shelf and pamida giving tree. For more info call 589-1731
Wam will meet today (Sat) at our savior’s in Chokio beginning with a short business meeting at 10 am followed by their annual advent potluck luncheon. Special guest will be Julie smith from the 'institute for Lutheran theology" Everyone is welcome.
The 2nd annual holidazzle trim a tree event and silent auction will be held at the Donnelly hall starting today (Sat) and concluding on Dec 5th from 12-4 pm both days. Stop in for hot cider, coffee, sweets and other goodies. Proceeds will be used for renovations of the Donnelly hall. Last year’s event was very successful let’s build on it.
Also going on today (sat) is the annual holiday open house at the schs (9 AM -12 PM) and the Christmas bazaar at the Morris senior center also beginning at 9 am with lunch at 11 am.
Concordia (Morehead) will present their annual Christmas concert at 3 & 8 pm today and at 3 pm on Dec 5th
The red hats will meet on Dec 6th at 1 pm at “the place to be” for pizza. For those that wish to participate in a cookie exchange please bring two dozen cookies or goodies all are welcome.
LU will meet on Dec 8th at 1 pm at the Morris sr. center Laird barber will be the speaker.
Santa will be stopping in Donnelly on Dec 11th at the hall about 1 pm so bring the kids to see Santa
There is a drop box for toys for tots at the bank in Donnelly.
Leo A. Storbakken of Minneapolis passed away on Nov 22nd. His sister Mable Realdsen is among the family members that survive him
Phyllis gausman of Alberta passed away on Nov. 25. A step granddaughter jen (Joey) Fults and their family are among the family members that survive her.
Mildred Stark of Morris formerly of Keng passed away on Nov 27nd. A nephew Jim (Lorraine) Aanerud and his family are among the family members that survive her. We were among the family and friends who attended her funeral at Messiah Lutheran on Dec 1st. She was a classmate of my aunt Mabel’s in Elbow Lake. After the funeral I stopped into the good Sam home to visit with Thelma Leegard. She asked me to say “hi” to everyone in the Donnelly area.
Les Huebner of Morris formerly of Donnelly passed away on Nov 30th. His funeral will be held today (Sat) at 10:30 am at first Lutheran in Morris
Congratulations to Doug wilts on being recognized as a key leader for the redwood 4-h at the grant co 4-h awards program held recently.
Congratulations to Mark and Deb Erickson for being named the 2010 outstanding soil conservationists in Stevens County.
Congratulations to chandler (honorable mention) and Alex Erickson of the c-a FB team who were named to the all-conference team in the pheasant conference.
Congratulations to irv sax who is the new manager of the sled shed (formerly Murray’s TNT) of rural Wendell. His parents are Rosie and the late Clyde sax of elbow Lake formerly of Donnelly.
At a recent meeting of the Rendsville 4-h club the following were elected as officers: cami Aanerud president, Jacob Sperr vp, Shannon kill sec ,savannah Aanerud treasure, Sydney Sperr reporter, Julie kill key leader, Lori Sperr assistant key leader
On Nov 24th I stopped into LL to wish my cousin Bev Hurlbut a Happy Thanksgiving.
Nov 25th a good crowd was on hand at the um church in Herman for their community meal.
Lloyd and Jan Anderson were among the exhibitors at the holiday craft fair at the armory in Morris in Nov 26th. In the aft John and Joan Kopacek, Jan Greiner and I helped decorate St John’s. Thanks to Lowell and Sandy Dunn and their family for decorating Kong. Both churches look very festive now.
Jim and Lou Eystad and I attended services at gslc in Morris on Nov 28th. Afterwards I took in the Christmas open house at Unger furniture in Morris. In the eve eystad’s attended the sing a long at the Eden reformed church in Herman

Nov 25th Pearl A. Anderson and Jim and Lou Eystad attended the community thanksgiving meal at the Assumption Catholic Church in Morris. Jeff and Gayle Gibson and family of Avon and donna frank of starbuck were dinner guests at Sam and Dorothy Johrdheim home in Donnelly

Andy brevig and I attended parish bible study at St J on Dec 1st.
