Aug 26th I visited Mary Drips at her home in Morris later I enjoyed a root beer float at eul’s they were celebrating their 80th anniversary. En route home I stopped at the threshing bee grounds to look around.

Jon and Jack Kopacek and I were among the many that worked on the grounds on Aug 27th to get everything ready for the bee.

A presentation on country churches by Doug Ohman on sat eve and the parade and the horse/pony pull on sun were some of the many highlights of the 45th annual Donnelly threshing bee that Jim and Lou Eystad and I attended on Aug. 28th & 29th. We had good crowds both days, thanks to everyone who came to help us celebrate

Steve Fults and I were among those who enjoyed the NHAS picnic supper at the Pomme De Terre Park. Later we attended the St Co Rep central committee meeting at Detoy’s. It was decided that we would invite tom emmer, Lee Byberg and others to attend a fall rally/town hall mtg in early Oct.

A good crew was on hand again for the second threshing bee work night on Aug. 31st, thanks to the co-op for letting us use their forklift.
Jeanne Ennen and I were among the members of our parish who helped pack food for the Feed My Starving Children org at the Maes cafeteria. Our shift packed about 130 boxes of food. It is a sobering reminder of how a little time and money can make a huge difference in people’s lives.

Gail, Jenna and Owen Gibson of Avon spent some time over the weekend, visiting family and friends in the area and attending the threshing bee.

Bonnie Fabian of Herman and some members of her family spent some time over the weekend visiting her mother Pearl A. Anderson and other family and friends in the area and participating in some of the threshing bee events.

One of the nice things about the bee is the opportunity to see and visit with some of the former Donnelly area residents who were home for the event such as David Aanerud, Arne Sather, Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Gregerson.
