donnelly news

Next edition Nov 28th – Dec 4th

Welcome to another edition of the Donnelly news.

Mostly sunny mild weather last week enabled many area farmers to get most of their corn crop picked and field work done although it will probably take another week or so for everybody in this area to finish up; that is if the weather stays semi-decent. I rode with my neighbor for a while on Fri. He said moisture levels were still about 25%; they had not figured out the yields yet but it looked good and considering the crazy growing season we had this year they were just glad to get a crop.

Welcome to another edition of the Donnelly news. Since this is Thanksgiving week I want to say thank you too all the loyal readers out there who have made this column a successful one. I really appreciate every one who has taken the time to stop and tell me how much they enjoy reading it and hope that you will continue to do so in the future.

An all day rain on Fri put a temporary halt to corn picking for a few days but sunny mild weather the rest of week has enabled farmers to make rapid progress in getting their corn crop out. It has not dried out much moisture levels are holding fairly steady at about 25% according to my neighbor. There are still a few bean fields left to be picked but given the weather forecast I would suspect that most farmers should be done with most of their fall field work in time to enjoy Thanksgiving.

At the last joint council meeting it was decided to extend her interim contract to Mar 1st giving the church councils some time to decide on the future of our parish.

On my blog site I have posted a copy of an e-mail I got from “Weddings and More Video Services” of Glenwood that lists the most popular church/WA related DVD/cd’s that they have for sale. I will also print it and post it the narthex’s of our churches.

The St Co Gen Soc had a short meeting on Nov 3rd at the library in Morris to put the finishing touches on the plans for their 25th aniv celebration.

Many of us from the area took in the lutefisk supper at First Lutheran on Nov 4th. It was very, very good. Many of you may have read the looking back section of the Morris S-T several weeks ago; where Kong served 900 people at their supper 40 years ago.

Jim and Lou Eystad attended the funerals for Lucille Anderson and Hazel Moser this week.
