Welcome to another edition of the Donnelly news:

 Weather news well after enduring several days of being in the deep freeze temps moderated last week, this week brought some snow.
St John’s/Kongsvinger news: Ash Wed services on Feb. 10th at   St. John’s.
Good shepherd news. No Tue a.m. Bible study until further notice
There will be a special meeting on Jan 30th to discuss the purchase of a new piano

Other church news: “Come Tour the Holy Land” January   31st from 3:30-5:30 p.m.; in the church’s Theatre Room at first Lutheran Morris. Come and join us for a video journey of Pastor Dave’s travels to the “Land Where Jesus Walked”
There will be a Valentine's Day Tea on Friday, February 12th from 2:00-4:00 p.m. in the First Lutheran Fellowship Hall. 
  Adult Forum "Islam 101” will be presented at faith Morris Jan 31st at 9:30 a.m.
Feb. 3rd will be the last “Burgers, beverages and a blessing” until after lent.


Community news: The Bookmobile will be in town on Main Street in Donnelly on Feb 1st from 3:45-4 p.m.
On Feb.1st at 7 p.m. the Donnelly city council will meet in the council chamber of city hall and the Rendsville 4-h will meet at St. John’s church in Donnelly
Benefit for Donna Haugen of Milan on Feb 6th from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. at Kviteseid Lutheran   church (308 North Third Street> in Milan. She is Jeanne Ennen’s sister in law and has been diagnosed with Stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer
Next "Rising up Stevens County" kinship event will be the quarter kraze on Feb. 13th at the legion in Morris from 10 a.m. 1 p.m. advance tickets available at the Rusc office in Morris, more info call 585-7872
Donnelly fire dept. “bar bingo” will be held on Fri eves at 7 p.m. until further notice at “A Place to Be in Donnelly”
The college republicans will have a fund raiser at the Pizza ranch-Morris on Feb.1st from 5-8 p.m.
On Jan 16th a family gathering was held to celebrate Bertha Larson’s 94th birthday. Those attending were Don and Algene Larson   and their daughter Kristi Larson, Janice Halverson, Gayle and Phil Dalseth, Larry Tuffton, Corrine Larson, Jon Larson and his daughters Samantha and Hannah Larson, Jody Loher, David and Hannah Larson and Jerry Jr. and Erica Loher and their children Kaylee and Caleb. Lots of laughter and fun was had by all.




Death notices. Donald Grossman of Morris passed away on Sept 21st survivors include his daughter Mary (Larry) Friesen of Donnelly
Former Donnelly area resident Leonard Wagner of Morehead passed away on Jan. 26th survivors include his sister in law Marvel Wagner of Morris

New National honor society members at Morris Area H.S include Britany Cardwell and Becca Holland.
Weston Ralph Kampmeier was born Jan 25th to Jenna (Moser> and Reed Kampmeier in St. Cloud. Grandparents are Jon and Lori Moser of Morris, Tim Kampmeier of Chokio and the late Linda Kampmeier of Chokio; great grandparents are Harry and Corrine Kruize of Donnelly, Glen and Nancy Kopp of Morris
Tiger swimming: sec 5 Meet: Levin strand was a member of the200 freestyle relay team that took 23rd the 200 medley team that took 27th and 26th individual in the breast stroke

Becca Holland was one of the Academic, arts, athletic winners at Morris Area High School
Tiger wrestling freshman (kms> sub section -Brady cardwell 1st, Tristan Raths 3rd; Kylen Running Hawk (heavyweight) took fourth place; section tournament (Canby> Brady Cardwell 4th at 145 lbs.

St John’s/Kongsvinger news: The Annual meeting will be held at St. John’s Jan 24th following services followed by a pot luck dinner. Clarification: service times were changed only on Jan 17th to accommodate the Kong annual meeting
Good shepherd news. No Tue a.m. Bible study until further notice

Death notices. Janet (Olson> Nordstrom of Donnelly passed away on Jan 17th survivors include her husband Pete, Brother Richard (Val> Olson of Donnelly as many of you may remember she was postmistress in Donnelly for many years
Emma Mary Kaehler was born on Nov. 27, 2015 at the University of Minnesota Medical Center, Fairview in Minneapolis to Kraig and Sarah Kaehler. Grandparents are Bruce and Sandy Loycano of Coon Rapids, Milfred Kaehler of Morris and Eugene Stoneburg of Starbuck.  Most of the family members are former Donnelly area residents

JV wrestling rocori invitational Tristian Raths took 4th Brady cardwell 5th Kylen Running Hawk 6th their respective weight classes
Keaton Long of the Knights wrestling team recently earned his 60th win
Gymnastics vs. Benson/kms savannah Aanerud beam third place, tied for fifth on the vault, took fourth on the bars and fifth on the floor to tie her personal best score of 33.8 in all-around competition, which was good for third place honors. JV action Katie Giese set new personal best scores on the bars (third place with 4.9) and beam (first place with 7.5).Shannon and Castalia Kill were among those who all set new, or tied, their personal bests in at least one event
Tiger swimming Detroit lakes meet: Levin strand was part of the 200 medley relay team that finished 5th the 200 free relay which took 3rd placed 4th in 100 breast stroke vs. Perham He was a member of the 200 medley team that took 2nd, 200 hundred fee relay that placed first, and he placed first in the 100 breast stoke

 Weather news: the weekend has brought some of coldest weather of the winter with bitterly cold temps on tap for next week.
St John’s/Kongsvinger news: The Annual meetings will be held at Kongsvinger Jan 17th and St. John’s Jan 24th both following services followed by a pot luck dinner. Service times will change on the 17th with St. John’s at 8:30 a.m. and Kongsvinger at 11 a.m.

Tiger gymnastics’ Melrose meet: Savannah Aanerud 4th on beam 5th on the bars jv Callista Kill set a new personal best on the beam Katie Giese took third place honors in the beam event  Moorhead invite tigers took first in their division

 Savannah Aanerud earned first place on the vault, tied for third place on bars, tied for first place on beam, tied for second on the floor, and finished in second place in all-around competition. Vs. big stone area    Savannah Aanerud earned first place on Vault, second place on Bars, first place on Beam, first place on Floor, first place in All-Around competition Katie Giese earned fourth place on Vault

Weather news: the New Year brought in some fairly decent temps other than a few days with some cold winds temps have been nice for this time of the year and being out and about
St John’s/Kongsvinger news: the regular schedule resumes on Jan 10th with services at Kongsvinger at 8:30 a.m. and St. John’s at 11 a.m. with ss at Kongsvinger at 9:45 a.m.
The Annual meetings will be held at Kongsvinger Jan 17th and St. John’s Jan 24th both following services followed by a pot luck dinner. Service times will change on the 17th with St. John’s at 8:30 a.m. and Kongsvinger at 11 a.m.

Former Donnelly area resident Caroline E. “Karri” (Flannigan) Hagen of Benson passed away on Jan 1st.
Walter Oscar “Wally” Heins, of Goodview, passed away on December 23rd survivors include step brothers and sisters former Donnelly area residents Pat Dummer of Alex, Geoff Volker of Morris, Bill and Kevin of Herman and their families, he was preceded in death by his mother Nancy Volker.

Sumit Harland was born to Tom Boener and Whitney Quinlan‎ of Mead, COL. Tom is a former Donnelly area resident. They plan to be married later this year.
