Welcome to another edition of the Donnelly news:
Correction: Donnelly rod and gun club will have their annual ice fishing contest on Pomme de terre (Perkins Lake) on Jan. 17th from 10 a.m. -3 p.m. more info Brad Backman (320) 589-7220 or stop into Super Valu and talk to Craig Awsumb
Weather news: the New Year brought in some fairly decent temps other than a few days with some cold winds temps have been nice for this time of the year and being out and about
St John’s/Kongsvinger news: the regular schedule resumes on Jan 10th with services at Kongsvinger at 8:30 a.m. and St. John’s at 11 a.m. with ss at Kongsvinger at 9:45 a.m.
The Annual meetings will be held at Kongsvinger Jan 17th and St. John’s Jan 24th both following services followed by a pot luck dinner. Service times will change on the 17th with St. John’s at 8:30 a.m. and Kongsvinger at 11 a.m.
Good shepherd news. No Tue a.m. Bible study until further notice
Other church news: “Come Tour the Holy Land” Sundays, January 24 and 31 from 3:30-5:30p.m. in the church’s Theatre Room at first Lutheran Morris. Come and join us for a video journey of Pastor Dave’s travels to the “Land Where Jesus Walked”
Join Pr. Dell and Carolyn on Sunday, January 17th at faith Morris between services for a screening of Islam 101 Islam 101 reviews the fundamental principles, beliefs, and practical aspects of Islam
Community news: The Bookmobile will be in town on Main Street in Donnelly on Jan 18th from 3:45-4 p.m.
The Donnelly fire dept. will meet at 7 p.m. on Jan 11th and 18th at 7 p.m.
Raising up Stevens county will have an open house Jan. 19th from 5- 7p.m. at St. John’s church-Donnelly, also on Jan 20th at the Hancock school and Jan 21st at the Morris library from 5-7 p.m. ;Chokio-Alberta TBA.
Death notices; Catherine Kellen of Morris passed away on Jan 2nd survivors include her daughter former Donnelly area resident Theresa (Virgil) Fults and family.
Margret Waldemarsen of Alex Minn. passed away on Dec. 15th survivors include her step daughter former Donnelly area resident Jeannine (Andy) Disselkamp of Morris and their family
Former Donnelly area resident Caroline E. “Karri” (Flannigan) Hagen of Benson passed away on Jan 1st.
Walter Oscar “Wally” Heins, of Goodview, passed away on December 23rd survivors include step brothers and sisters former Donnelly area residents Pat Dummer of Alex, Geoff Volker of Morris, Bill and Kevin of Herman and their families, he was preceded in death by his mother Nancy Volker.
Celebrations: Jr. High wrestling: Canby tournament; Brady Cardwell, and Tristan Raths took first in their respective weight classes. In varsity action at the Benson tournament Brady took 3rd place at 145 lbs.
Sumit Harland was born to Tom Boener and Whitney Quinlan‎ of Mead, COL. Tom is a former Donnelly area resident. They plan to be married later this year.
