donnelly news

Next edition June 13th-19th
Welcome to another addition of the Donnelly news
St John’s/Kongsvinger news: there will be joint services at 9 am on June 14th at Kongsvinger (note change of location) and every Sun. thereafter and at 7 pm every Wed. eve at St John’s; until further notice. The vbs kids will be singing on the 17th and there will be supper on the 24th before services.

Vacation bible school will be held on June 15th- 17th from 5:00 until 7:30 p.m. each day. Open to four year olds through completing fourth grade. For more info or to pre-register call the Parish office at 246-3211. 
Good shepherd news:  Vbs will be held on June 15-18th, from 1-4 p.m. at Good Shepherd, Held in cooperation with Zion –Morris and led by staff from Lutheran Island Bible camp. To register or for more info call Zion Lutheran 589-2744
Open house bridal shower in honor of Melissa Ascheman, bride to be of Brent Koehl, will be held today (Saturday) from 10 a. m.-12 p.m. at Good shepherd
There is a baby shower for Martin Olaf Hanson on June 22 at 6:30 p.m. at Good Shepherd.
Other church news:  New Wine Performances: at First-Morris (June 14th) and at Trinity -Cyrus (June 21st) both at 9 a.m.
“Burgers, Beverages and Blessings” is held on Wed. evenings at 7 p.m. at the Old # 1 Southside, note new location.
SW MN 28th annual synodical convention of the women of the ELCA is June 19 and 20 at the University of Minnesota – Morris campus
SW MN ELCA synod convention is this weekend at St. Peter MN
Service of ordination for Bryan Taffe June 20th at 11 a.m. at Faith Lutheran Morris
Celebration brunch at Faith-Morris June 14th after services in honor of the completion of the parking lot project
Thrivent financial summer picnic will be held on June 17th at 7 p.m. at Pomme de Terre City Park.
Trinity-Alberta centennial celebration June 20-21st
St John’s –Starbuck annual ice cream social June 28th 11-1:30 pm
The Mn All-State Lutheran choir will be on tour thought out Mn starting on June 20th in Alex with stops in elbow Lake Ortonville among other towns.
Community news The St. John’s /Kongsvinger parish and Donnelly community club have decided to combine two events into one. Our annual ice cream social will be held as part of the block party on June 27th

Death notices: Bob Uhden of Donnelly passed away on June 3rd, local survivors include his wife Rose, daughter Deb (Howard) Kill & their family of Donnelly.  I was among those who attended his memorial service on June 8th.  Our prayers go out to his son Dale who was seriously injured in a motorcycle accident near Kensington on June 4th; thankfully he was able to attend his dad’s funeral on Mon.
Former Donnelly area resident Rollie Mau of Bakus passed away on June 7th his funeral is today (Saturday) in Fergus Falls
Former Donnelly area resident Darlene (Lange) Drewes of Morris passed away on June 9th.

Celebrations: tiger track :girls ;st meet: Savannah Aanerud was a member of the 4 x 800 relay team that finished 9th  ;Islande Sperr was a member of the 4x100 relay team that finished 14th

The Donnelly community club had a lengthy meeting on June 9th as we continue our plans for the threshing bee and other events a reminder the bee is Aug. 29 & 30th the feature is everything made in ’65 and IH.
