Weather news: well our spring did not last long it is back in to the deep freeze again and now they are predicating another storm.
In St. John’s/ Kongsvinger news: Ash Wed services on Mar 5th at 7 p.m. at St John’s thereafter Lenten services will again alternate between St John’s Mar 19th and Apr 2nd and Kongsvinger Mar 12th 26th, and Apr 9th with coffee fellowship to follow. More details in upcoming columns
The final Bible study will between services at Kongsvinger on Mar 2nd.

Good Shepherd Lutheran Church news: Ash wed services at 7 p.m. on Mar 5th and every Wed after that until holy week. I will have more details in future columns. Assumption Catholic Church will have some guest speakers during the Sundays of Lent contact the church office for more details Starting on Mar 4th weekly bible studies on the Augsburg confession, will be held on Tue a.m. @ 9 a.m., until after Easter. There will a community hymn sing at Good Shepherd at 2 p.m. on Mar 9th. This is the last one that has been scheduled, but if your church would like to participate in one, contact Ken or Linda Hodgson.
On Mar 16th the Sr high youth will be serving a basket auction & pancake breakfast to raise funds for a trip to Flathead Lutheran bible camp in MT The mar newsletter is now out extra copies are available in the back of the church

ELCA Glacial ridge conference assembly will be held on Mar 9th at 1:30 p.m. at Glenwood Lutheran in Glenwood
Assumption Catholic Church will have a St. Pats day dinner on mar 16 at the church from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. they will also have guest speakers during lent contact the church office for details
The World Day of Prayer will be held at Federated Church on Friday, March 7th; beginning at 1:30 p.m. Refreshments will follow.
Habitat for humanity will have a pork chop fundraiser on Mar 10th at the Legion in Morris beginning at 4:30 p.m.
Mar 3rd the red hatters will meet at the Herman Bar and grill at 9 a.m. the bookmobile will be in Donnelly at HD & co at 3:30 p.m. and city council and Rendsville 4-h will meet at 7 p.m. in the fire and community halls in Donnelly.
The Donnelly community club will have their annual meeting on Mar 10th more details later

Scott and Ione Ringler of Winona, announce the engagement of their daughter, Chelsea Ringler, to Devin Hormann, son of Dean and Leila Hormann of Starbuck. Devin’s grandfather is former Donnelly area resident John Delong.
Rodney Koser of Elbow Lake passed away on Feb 19th; survivors include his sister, former Donnelly area resident Vonna Jane (Ben) DeLong of Alexandria
Knights of Columbus free throw contest winners include Brandon Jergenson (10 yr. olds) Jackson Loge alternative .
Brooke Gillespie was named to the honor roll at Chokio-Alberta HS
In the past week Steve Fults and I attended the McNamar town hall meeting at the Sr center and the meeting of the Stevens county republican party executive committee at DeToy’s as we made plans for the county convention on Mar 7th at the legion in Morris @ 7 p.m. and dist. 11 convention in Elbow Lake on Mar 22nd at the h.s. at 10 a.m. Jeanne Ennen and I attended the Future Farmers of America alumni supper and meeting at the Morris area H.S., and the frank baptisms at Kongsvinger. Mark and I attended the community meal at Faith Lutheran in Morris and the worship services at the west central homes with PR Mary Dodgson preaching; afterwards we visited my aunt Pearl and Virginia Long there. Jim and Lou Eystad and I attended the bible study at good shepherd.

Mark’s foster dad Stan Koepke who passed away 30 years ago.
Weather news:
after umpteen weeks of cold, snow and wind the sun has come out and it has
actually gotten above freezing this week, meaning we can get rid of some of the
snow and ice around here and be out and about some without getting cold. Unfortunately the
forecast calls for a return to the deep freeze soon.
In St.
John’s/ Kongsvinger news: There will be joint services at Kongsvinger on Feb.
23rd at 11 am with the SS kids singing. Tal Arkay Frank and Nash
Arkay Frank (Randy and Kelly) will also be baptized

Donnelly area resident Jeanette Pedersen-Greiner of Morris passed away on Feb
15th. Her funeral will be held today (Saturday) at Trinity Lutheran
church in Cyrus

in the competition.
The Tiger
gymnasts were honored in Litchfield as the Section 6A Academic Team Champion
and State Class A runner up Academic Team Champion. Savannah Aanerud performed another
stuck beam routine, receiving 10th in all-around competition.
Last week I
stopped into Super Valu when the Stevens county farm bureau had an ag awareness
day there, when I stopped at the table to register, Paul Stark told me I had to
put in the my column that they were there, since I aim to please I am,
especially after I won a Super Valu gift card from them. Thank you.
Jan 16th
Mark and I attended the birthday party at the west wing Village for Marlys Alm,
she is 99 years young. Many of her family were there for the event. After the party we visited some of the
residents there. During the past week I attended Bible study at Good shepherd and stopped into see
Wally at McCollar Jewelry, he was telling me about how he got his start in Morris,
saying his Dad gave him good advice back then. Selling three engagement rings
on one day about 50 years ago was a huge morale booster for him when he was
getting started.

get a break with temps forecast get up to about 30 on Monday. However as I am
writing this Thursday a.m. there is another storm out there causing some
schools in the area to cancel classes again
In St.
John’s/ Kongsvinger news: There will be Bible studies between services (about
10 am) on Feb 16th at St John’s then repeated at the same time at
Kongsvinger on Feb.23 and Mar 2nd.

Shepherd Lutheran Church: Sunday, February 16, after church, Wayne Grunklee
will give an informational presentation on the types of endowment tools
available to us as a congregation.
There will

received a 20 gal pin at the recent Red Cross blood drive in Morris
Sydney Beyer of Morris, Shadow Olson and
MaKenzie Smith of Donnelly were all named to the Minnesota State University,
Moorhead Dean's list for the fall 2013 semester.

central conference gymnastics meet held in Morris on the 8th Savannah Aanerud received
Fifth Place in all - Around, Seventh Place on Bars, Seventh Place on Floor, and
Eighth Place on Vault .Savannah
Aanerud, Kourtney Giese, were honored as All Conference Gymnasts in the West
Central Conference for the 2013 - 2014 Gymnastics Season

was named to the honor roll at Hancock H.S.
Chuck Meixel
of Starbuck and Deb Powell of Alexandria are pleased to announce the engagement
of their daughter, Fallon Meixel to Wade Backman, son of Steve and Cathy
Backman of Morris. Fallon graduated from Morris Area High School in 2009. She
will graduate from North Dakota State University in May with a bachelor of
science in nursing degree. Wade graduated from Morris Area High School in 2010.
He is currently working at C.R. Koehl & Sons. The wedding is planned for
June 28, 2014 in Alexandria. Wade’s grandmother is Liz Aschman
Jim and Lou Eystad
went to Pete Gilbertsons funeral at inhered church by Starbuck on Feb 12th.
In the past
week Jim and Lou Eystad and I attended bible study (2x) and I participated in
the bunko games both at Good Shepherd. I also attended the visitation for Don
Lindor at the Pedersen funeral home his son in law Randy Haas was my classmate
and PR Mike Hanson, Chuck Spohr and I had lunch togather. Mark Koepke attended
the fireman’s’ steak fry at the fire hall on Feb 1st.
I was asked
about who Charles Sather was; his parents were Ralph and Clara Sather of the
Donnelly area.

Welcome to another edition of the Donnelly news
Weather news the weather is starting to sound like a broken record;
cold, cold, and colder and no real relief in sight. The saving grace is that it
is not as bitterly cold as it has been and we have not had a storm in the past
week. The ground hog saw his shadow on Sunday
so 6 more weeks of winter.
In St. John’s/ Kongsvinger news: St John’s annual meeting has
been rescheduled to Feb 9th, following the 11 a.m. services, at St John’s;
followed by a potluck dinner. Leadership ballots are posted at the church.
Kongsvinger Lutheran
church women will meet on Feb 13th all future meetings will be on
the 2nd Thursday of the month instead of the first.
There will bible studies between services (about 10 am) on
Feb 9th, and 16th at St John’s then repeated at the same time
at Kongsvinger on Feb.23 and Mar 2nd.
From Good Shepherd Lutheran Church: the Bunco Family Fun day has been rescheduled
for Sunday, February 9th, after education hour (around 11:45) with
BBQ's and pot-luck. The church will
provide BBQ's and participants please bring a dish to pass. Then the games will
begin - we will play until 2p.m.
Coffee money this month goes to the Stevens county food shelf
the mission of the month is International health services

Former Donnelly area resident Charles Sather of Bloomington
passed away on Feb 8th. his funeral is Feb 10th in Savage
MN.
James Steven Woodke was born on January 31, 2014 at Glacial
Ridge Health System in Glenwood, to Darin and Alexis Woodke of Morris.
Grandparents are Steve and Molly Woodke of Alexandria, Deb Eineke of Madelia,
and Lyle Eineke of Madelia.
Sawyer William Torma was born on January 27, 2014 at Stevens
Community Medical Center, Morris, to Joha and Andrea Torma of Morris. Grandparents are Becky Bergstrom of Donnelly
and Sharon Torma of Hancock. Great grandparents are Irene Strand of Morris and
Lennie Torma of Wahpeton, N.D.
Mason Dunn was one of the winners in the Morris area H.S.
science fair held recently
In the past week Andy Brevig and I attended the Kongsvinger
annual meeting and the precinct caucuses in Morris, Mark and I visited my aunt
Pearl A. Anderson to wish her a belated Happy Birthday (her birthday was Jan 27th).
I attended worship services at the West Wind Village; Pr. Mary was the preacher,
I also stopped in to visit with Wally McCollar for a while at this shop and
helped Jim and Lou Eystad with NAPS.
